Got the $3.50 bubble tea special - 3 tea mix. It was pretty good  - frothy, strong but not horribly tannic and undrinkable like Hong Kong style milk tea. However there's a bait and switch - tapioca is included in the picture, but you need to top up $0.50 to get it in your drink. They have $3.99 daily drink specials too. Toppings might not be included for those too.

This is a great little bakery Hong-Kong style bakery off of Yonge St. They have a good selection of sweet and savoury, usually running out of things near the end of the day so you can be sure your goodies are fresh. Best of all, they sell Japanese Milk Bread, which is hard to find. The Butter Pudding Cake is quite nice with tea or coffee, medium-sweet offering that dense-yet-delicate texture so unique to Asian baking. They also have an excellent collection of cheesecakes, Swiss roles (mango, vanilla and matcha) and other selections that will thrill dinner guest.

Brand new Asian bakery on prime yonge real estate between Dundas and college station. I was walking by and found them outside sampling several of their pastries. They were also have several promos! I chose the strawberry bun because it was SO GORGEOUS AND ONLY $2.50. The place reminded me of bake code but prettier, more patisserie looking while being relatively CHEAPER. I enjoyed the experience very much as well as the egg tart which was the perfect amount of sweetness with a crispy, flakey tart. They also had tons of drinks with some new ones I haven't seen before. Id love to try them next time and I can't wait to come back for other buns!!

Breads are pretty hit or miss, some have the perfect amount of topping/filling while others are stingy and feel lacking. The mochi croissant is a standout. While a little greasy, the flavour and textures are delicious.

Very overpriced buns, that weren't even that good. Service is absolute garbage, cashier didn't look at me or speak a single word. Bread itself was mediocre, the $1 buns from HK bakery in Chinatown tastes better and it's less than half the price. If I'm paying $3.99 for a bun it better be the best damn bun Ive ever had.

Extremely clean and bright environment, pastries are aligned neatly in their respective showcases. It does get crowded if some people are inside the store as there is enough room (comfortably) for one person. I've tried their matcha cookie and it tasted okay, didn't really get the matcha flavor from it. Other pastries look tempting but they are quite pricey. I'd say it's one of the better places to grab a classic pearl milk tea (they do often promote this drink for 3.49 for regular size).

Got the Strawberry Cream Bun and it is AMAZING. The strawberry flavour is strong and the cream is not overly sweet. Both the cream and the strawberries are fresh and I would definitely get this again!

Someone handed the creative torch over to Bake Island and screamed: go at it, champs! For it's here you will see Chinese buns in slightly different forms, flavours, and combinations. Price leans on the higher end for buns.

I went into Bake Island early in the day when they just opened. They were still filling their cases with buns and pastries at that time but we knew everything was fresh. The store is very clean and organized. I like how they had a little "hot" section for some of the buns that should be eaten warmed. They had a case by the cashier filled with some cakes that you could buy by the piece or as a whole. They also offered some bubble tea drinks and as well as your typical asian tea drinks (milk tea, half & half, lemon tea, etc). I ended up getting 5 buns and a milk tea. Since we went when they just opened the buns were still nice and warm when we ate them. I got the following: Shredded Pork Pastry Bun - I really enjoyed this bun, it was filled with pork floss and had a nice flakey pastry bun. It had the sweet and savoury flavour of your typical asian pastry buns. Taiwan Bun - I ended up eating this one a few hours later and it had dried out a bit. Its similar to the traditional pineapple bun but the crust was not as buttery and flakey. I wasn't really a fan of this one, the bun was a little too dense but it could have been because it was a bit dried out. It might have tasted better if I had warmed it up perhaps. Hong Kong Crispy Bun - Also similar to the pineapple bun but a much more crispy top. It was my favourite one. I liked the crispy sweetness with the nice soft and warm bun. Black Sesame Bun - The black sesame filling was really good and not overly sweet. I wasn't sure what the topping on the bun was and to be honest it didn't do much for the bun. It was very messy to eat due to the topping breaking apart into a powdery mess. Sausage Bread - Saw this being brought out from the kitchen so had to get it. It was in the "hot" warming section. Reminded me of the typical chinese hot dog bun, but this one had some cheese and ketchup on it which gave it some added flavour. I really enjoyed it. It had the nice sweet and savoury flavour and the bread was soft and warm. They had a really good variety of buns, cakes and pastries. I think there's something for everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed them but the price is a little high, although given it's location I understand why. I would still say it's worth it given their variety and the fact that they have more unique buns than the typical ones in Chinatown. Overall I'd definitely go back to try out the other buns and cakes as well!

coconut bun, ginger black sesame, strawberry, green tea red bean and taro Japanese bun and very good sesame bread

Very fresh, clean and ok Asian bakery downtown. As it is downtown, yes, items are much more expensive than in Chinatown but they are still good and some are very original (strawberry bun good, green tea red bean ok, ginger black sesame bun ok, sesame red bean bread very good). I would go there without hesitation if craving for a coconut bun or other type of Asian bakeries or buns in the area. Lots of young employees always bringing some fresh items out of the kitchen in the back. I just wish their pace was a bit faster, especially the cashier (as it is quite warm inside and lining up to pay carrying a loaded tray is annoying - weak a/c and real busy pastry kitchen with running ovens in the back)

It was gross when you ate a molded Swiss roll in the morning.... I feel sick...never go again...

The nice display cases for the various buns.

It's a very nice-looking Asian bakery shop on Yonge St. Everything is presented nicely in the glass cases and makes use of every inch of space in the shop. I walk by more often than not when travelling between work sites and found myself wandering one day after the positive review from a coworker. I can definitely say that the buns are presented better here with a little more artistic flair to make it enticing for you to buy. Eye appeal can be buy appeal. I only had one bun which was the HK BBQ Pork bun. It was about 40 cents more than a similar bun that you could find at other bakery shops. The bun on the outside doesn't look all too different but the differences are a little more clear when you take a bit inside. I found that there was more filling as well as more authentic chunks of BBQ pork in this bun. Is that extra cents worth it? I'm still undecided but no hesitation that when I have a craving for some buns, I can come here and expect nothing less.

    Outside is nice and simple

The bread items are flaky and tasty. However, the fruit flies are joining the bread party as well in the store... The drinks are mediocre; they are not sealed top lid, so make sure to be careful when you have more than two drinks to carry.

The mango cake that we ordered tasted stale, and the mango slices on top of the cake were sour. Will never get food from this place again.

Buns are nice and fresh. The fruit tea is made out of real fruit. They also have wide variety of cakes.

The pastries and mochi breads are absolutely exquisite! I tried the black sesame mochi bread--light, pillowy, and filled with a delightful little white mochi surprise. The crème brûlée almond tart was incredible too, with its thick, eggy custard and a blueberry-almond center. And the Hitotoki matcha tart? Gorgeous and just perfect. It was my first visit, and I discovered the bakery through their 2nd-anniversary IG post. I bought about $20 worth of treats and got to spin their prize wheel--and I actually won the Grand Prize: a limited-edition gold Nespresso & milk frother kit! I literally jumped for joy. Yet another reason to love this incredible bakery!

It was okay. Tried three items:…read more Matcha Lava Tart - The staff said this had the strongest matcha flavour among their matcha items. But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

My wife always judges a French Cafe by their Butter Croissant ($3.00) and she liked it! She also noticed all the  staff speak French sp it gives it even more legitimacy.  She also ordered a Flat White ($4.50) which was also good. I ordered a Plum Almond Tart ($7.25) because it was the prettiest. It was super delicious so it was definitely a good choice! Service was courteous and friendly. You place your order at the counter and bring it to your table. Someone will come around to clear the dishes when you are done It is a great place to have a nice casual time eating and socializing. There are products for sale such as coffee beans, fruit syrup, maple syrup, smoked sauces, olive oil, scented soap, wine glassware, etc. I will definitely come back again to try other items. Hopped on my bike and a half hour later I was there. The friendly staff helped me by answering my question regarding eggs and which items did not have any in the recipes. This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
