I just wanted some desserts after eating nearby so I went there because Hien Khanh was closed. The store is well lit signs and a few tables to eat in. They have different types of Vietnamese desserts which I wanted to try something different. I ordered two jello cups one with coffee and the other coconut. Then I ordered a durian dessert for my wife the cashier told me they have a sample box of 5 items for 7 bucks. This is what is on their menu anyway but when I came home the box was one item of jelly with mung beans in the middle. If I wanted this I can get it at any shop. I wasn't happy when I called back asking about the variety samples. He explained to me that they ran out and said that I can get 5 items for 7 bucks. I told him I only wanted the durian dessert and can careless about the other items. The mung bean and cassava were very dense and not chewy. The taro was the best one. You can taste the taro pieces and very chewy. Again, I've never had it before so nothing to compare it to, but its similar to like filipino halo-halo in a sense of it being a shaved ice and milk sort of dessert. Very light and not too sweet. It did seem pretty pricey, about $7 for each cup. My Vietnamese friends who I was with were like "my mom makes this better", but to be fair, all people usually say this about their culture's food when they go out compared to their family's way of making it, haha. Finally a chè place that takes credit cards! Located in the T&K supermarket plaza is Bake & Che. They specialize in a variety of chè and Vietnamese pastries. I have tried their Dac Biet (#1) and chè Thai (#2). Be warned that the dac biet has a strong taste of durian which I love but some of you cannot handle. Each cup of chè was a good size and were $7 each. You can also ask them to make it less sweet and pay additional for more toppings or extra durian. I loved both the chè that I have tried but the dac biet is my favorite. Besides chè, I also tried their Cassava (Khoai Mi/$1.50) pastry which was good. My mom was also impressed. Extra plus point - because they put the allergen notation on their menu such as gluten free, dairy free, vegan etc. This place gets crowded on the weekend at night and the line will get longer out the door. While driving in the area, I saw a familiar popular shop on the social media. There was a huge line, so I decided to check it out with my family. The place is nice little bakery with famous dessert drinks. The line was long, but the service was fast. We got our order within 5-10 min. We ordered one pandan layers dessert. It was delicious with mung beans. It was freshly made, and the sweetness was perfect. We tried the Palm Sugar cupcake. It was sweet textured cake. It is a similar to the sweet rice cake dessert you would find at the dim sum dessert cart. It was just little bit too sweet. We also ordered two drinks: C5 Clear Glass Jelly and Pomegranate and C8 Premium Soy Pudding. We asked for the ice on the side so we can try it at home later. Both drinks were perfectly made. One of the member of the family did not like the peanuts in C5 drink. Hopefully, next time, we will see if we can modify any of the drinks. We enjoyed our delicious drinks and the desserts. Employees happily broke down the menu for us and recommended banh bo nuong, che dac biet, and che ba mau. I love durian and pandan, so the Durian Pandan Layers Cake was a must-try. The layers were perfectly squishy and chewy. I liked how the durian flavor hit stronger than expected! The star of the Pandan Grass Jelly Che was the COCONUT MILK - So delicious and addicting!
