We came here mid-week after dinner for dessert. This is a small window with a few tables outside. They make amazing soft serve. They also have these adorable, beautiful fruit sandwiches on display. I also saw they have savoury bento items on the menu. We tried the hojicha soft serve ($6) and it was amazing. It's really just vanilla soft serve with a syrup of a flavor of your choosing - sesame, matcha, hojicha, etc. We were way too full to get the full sundae but we definitely want to get that next. You can have mochi topping too.
Yummy, quick service soft serve! We got the black sesame deluxe sundae, which was plenty to share for 2 people. I really liked the soft kinako mochi, but the meringue was too much and it overall felt VERY sweet by the time we finished the whole thing. Next time I might just go with the soft serve alone and ask if they can add the mochi a la carte.
Baiten offers creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream with your choice of syrup. The key word here is syrup, the ice cream itself is vanilla flavored, and the additional flavors come from the syrup options. They currently offer Matcha, Hoji-Tea, Kuro-Goma (black sesame), and Yuzu (Japanese citrus). The shop itself is very small since it's basically a window shop, either renting space from or connected to Tamari Bar. It's more like a little dessert stand located on the restaurant's patio area, with only a few outdoor tables available. The soft serve was okay, but not as creamy as I was hoping for, and it melted pretty quickly. If you decide to add a syrup flavor, I'd recommend asking for only a small amount. Mine came absolutely drowning in syrup, and honestly, the flavor tasted pretty artificial and overpowering.
It's a cute asian dessert spot. I came here to try their pretty popular (or trending) fruit sandwiches. It was good but it was pretty much what it sounded like. I personally liked the matcha flavour one a lot. But having tried this - I think I can make this home pretty easily - in fact anyone can - just the concept is interesting.
Soooo delicious! Our first visit was February 13th around 7-8pm. We kept walking by so lost at first and so confused knowing it was supposed to be next to the Tamari Bar but after walking past like 4 times we notice an employee open up shop. It's like a to go window next to the Tamari Bar and maybe they were closed unofficially for a few minutes? Once we spotted Baiten we ordered the matcha soft serve and Hoji-cha soft serve. Sooooo delicious and big portion. We were very pleased. Staff were quiet but friendly. I was super happy with my matcha soft serve and tbh it was some of the best soft serve I've had, it was so creamy, so sweet, and perfectly balanced with the matcha! I would totally come back and recommend :)
As a soft serve lover, Baiten is one of Seattle's summer soft serve staples! We tried the black sesame, strawberry matcha and whiskey caramel. The caramel was perfect for sweet lovers, the matcha strawberry was a good mix of sweet fruity and earthy and the black sesame was great for those who enjoy the sesame flavor like me! The location is also really nice to sit out at on a nice day. I just wish there was more syrup for the generous amount of soft serve!
I've had their soft serve here back in 2022, and I came back on a Thursday night just to have it again! This place looks more like a popup but is essentially right next to Tamari Bar with its own seating over to the right-hand side. The front is just the counter with displays of their fruit sandwiches and the bases of their baiten sundaes, which are essentially parfaits. I got their matcha deluxe sundae, which has a lot: red bean paste, matcha jelly, pocky sticks, mochi, corn flakes, vanilla soft serve, a matcha drizzle and small cracker on top. The whole thing looked like it was gonna topple over when I got it but thankfully it never did even as I took videos of the parfait and even ate it all the way. Soft serve has a smooth consistency and the matcha drizzle never took over the taste of the vanilla, while the whole parfait still contained everything matcha-based. Pretty much everything fit in very well, and I found myself eating this much faster than I thought. This is a place I'd bring friends and family to, they have tons of great stuff for your sweet tooth! This is in Cap Hill though, so just be wary of parking.
Came here to get a quick bite with some friends. Got the curry and hayashi rice. Pretty good and decent value. You can order food and then sit and eat at the patio.
Really amazing ice cream here, the texture and creamy taste are soooooo good. The matcha flavor also wasn't overpowering and went really well with vanilla ice cream. Nice lady working there too! The sandwich was fun to try, fresh fruit. Cute little hole in the wall spot.
Excellent service. Super nice lady helped us. We ordered yuzu soft service and Macha one. Both delicious. The custard is really good. We also got mixed fruit sandwich. It was fresh and tasty. Casual place. Would absolutely return.
Small area outside but there are a few tables. Dessert was really good. I got the special and everything about it was good. They made the dessert within 5 mins as well! Would come back!
One of the best Japanese soft serve in Seattle! Their vanilla base is simple, creamy and perfectly smooth and they drizzle the right amount of syrup on top. If you are deciding between flavors, you can order both in the same cup! I have had all of their flavors and I still can't pick a favorite. A must visit for a quick, satisfying dessert!
Baiten was amazing! We ordered the Kurogoma and Kinako Deluxe Sundae, which was the perfect afternoon treat for a warm day. It came loaded with various delicious treats from silky pudding to crispy bites of Rusk (a sweet, crunchy Japanese bread snack). The employees were very nice and greeted us with a smile. I will definitely come back!

some of the best soft serve in the seattle area. extremely smooth consistency with subtle sweetness. the syrup can be a lot--very sweet toward the end since it's in the middle of the ice cream. i got yuzu and black sesame and it was the perfect combo of fruity and nutty. tbh the meringue didn't do much though and would've been better without it read more

Parking was a bit hard to find and no indoor seating. They did have to outdoor seating but very small. It looks like a ice cream stand and when I got there around 9pm on a weekday, there were quite a few ppl there. I already knew it'd be good based on ppl ordering here. I got the Hojicha soft serve! Honestly, I was expecting the whole soft serve would be Hojicha flavored soft serve but it was actually just the syrup that they used that was Hojicha. It was still very delicious regardless! The soft serve was so creamy and soft, had a slight hint of cream cheese note which I found it pleasant and not just plain vanilla flavor. It was around $6 and I honestly think it was more than enough to share it with 2 ppl. Would come back again next time I'm in town. read more

Hands down--probably my favorite ice cream spot in Seattle. We got the black sesame Sunday and split it between 3 people. It was so good! I love that the ice cream has an extra milky flavor--but what I really enjoyed was all the fun textures that were hidden in the custard. Flavors were well balanced and not too sweet. read more
Absolutely love this soft serve. A lot of different flavor or sauces they put on top of the soft serve. My group of friends for the red miso, matcha, yuzu, and hojicha. Hojicha was by far my favorite. Deep aromatic flavor and wasn't too crazy sweet. Highlighted the roasted matcha flavor and combined very well with the soft serve Matcha was pretty standard, i think it was great. Always a solid choice. The yuzu was a nice citrus compliment onto the sweet soft serve. It was like a lemon sorbet, really nice! The red miso was by far the most interesting. It was salty and sweet, really deep miso flavor. It's like a japanese version of salted caramel ! 5/5 would come again, service was super nice and friendly, and made all the soft serves really quick with precision as well! read more

The storefront itself is pretty small, but its attached/next to Tamari bar! Card only. their soft serve menu is pretty small, but they always have new or seasonal items out! Service was quick and fast, and there is outdoor seating for us to enjoy our treats. They give you a good amount of soft serve, so its worth the price imo! * Yuzu soft serve - refreshing and light, the black sesame cracker it came with compliments the ice cream very well * Matcha cookie sand - pretty hard so you gotta wait a bit for it to melt just to take a bite read more
The portions are very generous, like no way would I be able to finish an order by myself, I just ask them to fill it half way just so I'm not wasting ice cream that I wouldn't be able to finish anyways. There's the more simple ones with just a single syrup or there's ones with a bunch of fancy toppings, now I really don't know who can finish that on their own. I would prefer if the ice cream are actual flavors and not just vanilla with flavored syrups though because at this point, McDonald's has a really good vanilla soft serve, it's just their machine only works half the time. Lol. This is a window right next to Tamari Bar which I still haven't been able to try, but is meaning to after seeing the beef cooking on hot stones. There's a few standing table in front of it and they also serve fruit Japanese sandwiches if you want food. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:) read more
I love exploring foods around Cap Hill area. This dessert place caught my attention when I saw a few IG foodies posted about this place. So I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the kurogoma & kinako sundae since it caught my attention when looking at the menu. The soft served cup was packed with sesame pudding and syrup, and topped with red bean paste, matcha cookie and kinako mochi. This is similar to Nana's but a bit on the pricier side. I thought the parfait was good but it did not justified the cost. There's outdoor seatings connected to the restaurant next door to enjoy the ice cream. I saw they also sell fruit sandwiches ($7 each) but they only offered strawberry that day. Do keep in mind that they are not open everyday, so plan accordingly. read more
Baiten is this cute walk-up counter in the Capitol Hill area that serves fairly delicious Japanese soft serve ice cream and other items, like the fruit sando. We ultimately settled on a fruit sandwich, hochija and black sesame ice cream. As a heads up, the soft serve vanilla is the same ice cream for all but the flavor difference is in the syrup. Not bad and the soft serve wasn't too sweet. The fruit sando was pretty to look at and to take pictures but it was just okay, consisting of that heavy whip cream flavor. It wasn't too sweet at all, so I think it threw me off a bit with the bread but a must try at least once. I'd come back to Baiten again. My recommendation: Go when the weather is warm to satisfy your dessert cravings or preferably during the summer time. read more

Cute little hidden spot, so glad we decided to check it out while walking and exploring the city! Everything looked super yummy, they had a variety of Japanese flavored ice cream with a matcha sauce and a bunch of toppings! We opted for the fruit sandwich which was full of whipped cream. It was delicious! Not too sweet or heavy, great dessert and very pretty! Definitely have to stop by when in Seattle! read more

My favorite dessert place this trip was by far the soft serve from Baiten ! Their soft serve was so creamy and refreshing in that Seattle heat wave. Highly recommend their yuzu and Kinako flavors! Definitely stop by if you're craving something sweet and cold! read more

Wonderful window shop next to Tamari Bar with some outdoor tables to dine on standing. They actually extended their hours on weekends! I made some time in my schedule to visit during their limited hours and learned, so that's amazing for everyone. Choco Banana Sando - first initial bites are a delicacy but then it just becomes overly sweet. Recommend sharing this with another person. Very much a dessert. Mixed Fruit Sando - two grapes hidden on the bottom with orange, kiwi, pineapple, and strawberry. While sweet, this one is more reasonable as a snack. The orange was a bit sour which contrasted starkly with the rest of the sweet sandwich. Personally didn't like that, but I could see how this clash enhances the taste a bit. Matcha Sando - decent matcha flavor and super creamy. I mean if you look at it, it's basically all matcha cream so makes sense. Another one of the more desserty options. Matcha Cream Puff - generous filling of matcha cream inside and for the price, not too shabby. Comparable to other cream puff spots but unique in the matcha flavor. Baiten's Matcha Deluxe Sundae - this is the sundae to get if you want to try everything this place has to offer. Pair it with a sando. Lots of matcha items with varying levels of matcha intensity, this is for a true matcha lover or someone wondering if they even like matcha. read more

Amazing Japanese desserts that look super pretty! Nothing is better on a hot day than a cooling sweet parfait or a fresh fruit sandwich. This place is located in Tamari Bar so they also offer delicious Tamari Bar bentos which make a great lunch before the desserts. The deluxe matcha parfait is truly deluxe. I actually liked the fact that the soft serve was vanilla since everything else was matcha flavored. The soft serve is super creamy and lightly sweetened which went well with the bitter vegetal flavor of the matcha toppings. The matcha rusk was crunchy and sweet, the matcha custard was rich and velvety, and the matcha jelly was soft and bouncy. All together the parfait was an amazing combination of flavors and textures. The bentos are really good too. I got the hayashi rice bento and was pleasantly surprised when it came with a good portion of vegetables. The demi-glace sauce was super beefy and rich and had fatty chunks of beef. The eggplant and kabocha squash were really tender and went well with the rich sauce. The fruit sandwich was also pretty good but I probably would've preferred Japanese milk bread instead of just regular white bread. read more
Baiten is a pop up dessert shop that is located at Tamari Bar before it is open for evening service. A friend sent me this dessert shop & since I was in town, I had to check them out. Even if I was full after a meal, my motto is always room for dessert! I'm not much of a yuzu fan but they had a soft serve with this flavor I had to try because it's the first time I've come across this flavor. The storefront is cute and is a pick up spot. They only accept card, no cash, and are open Thursday-Sunday. If you want to, you can enjoy your treat at their outdoor standing table or take it to-go. You can see the display of their sweet sandos that are beautiful to look at. I ordered the Yuzu Soft Serve & a chocolate banana sando. Both were the right amount of sweet and the yuzu wasn't too tart. I liked it, so I imagine if you're a yuzu fan, you'd love this. Great lil spot for dessert! read more
Baiten is a cute little dessert stand in Cap Hill that offers a variety of Japanese desserts. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and we tried the yuzu soft serve and fruit sandwich. Yuzu soft serve: Contrary to what I was expecting, the yuzu soft serve is not actually yuzu flavored. It's actually a plain vanilla soft serve with yuzu sauce. I liked the bright, citrusy flavor of the yuzu sauce and the soft serve was smooth and creamy. Because the yuzu flavoring is just a sauce, the yuzu flavor wasn't evenly dispersed with each spoonful. Fruit sandwich: I didn't like the fruit sandwich and would not recommend it. The bread tasted stale and even though the fruits look cute, they didn't taste good in a sandwich. The orange was explosively juicy and sour, the kiwi was really tart, and the other fruits didn't balance those flavors. The fruits also made the bread soggy on the inside. Tres Sandwich House in Bellevue is way better if you're looking to hit the spot with a Japanese sandwich. Parking can be a little tricky in this area since it's street parking only. I would consider stopping by to try other desserts if I were in the area, but it's not something I would go out of my way for based on this experience. read more
It's easy to walk by this spot, as it's a hole in the wall. The line can move slowly at times. They have milk soft serve with a variety of flavored syrups, mostly Asian - yuzu, matcha, hojicha, etc. You get a pretty generous serving! Outdoor seating and street parking only. This was the perfect soft serve with unique flavors. I got a soft serve flight to share. It comes with a plain soft serve cup which was milky, the perfect amount of sweetness, and delicious. It came with 6 flavors of topping. My favorites were the matcha, yuzu, and soy which all balanced out the sweetness of the ice cream well. The restaurant is basically just a stand in the side of a building. It has a small standing/seating area outside. read more
One of my favorite dessert places in the CapHill area! Baiten is connected to Tamari bar and window service only which adds to the experience! They have japanese sandwiches and soft serve but I love the parfaits! They are consistently so yummy and not overly sweet. My favorite additions to the parfaits are the red bean, mochi, but the cereal they add is the best! One can be easily shared between two people. The people working the window are always super sweet. Based on the weather and if Tamari bar is open, they might have patio seating available or you have to take it to-go! read more
Soft serve is good and light! Not too heavy and I like the citrus flavor of yuzu. Sandwich was okay, cream is too thick, I prefer a lighter and airier whipped cream. The milk bread is also not as soft as I've had before. The fruits in it are slightly on the sour side, which would usually be fine if the cream were sweet enough but it's not. Wouldn't get a sandwich again, but would come back for the soft serve! read more

Delicious fruit sandwiches, soft serve, and more!! The place is small as you can see by the picture but the sweets are great! I found it hard to make a choice but ended up with the fruit sandwich. I've seen on their Instagram that they even have cuter designs, but I didn't see any floral patterns when I went at the time. Perhaps next time :) I saw someone in front of me get a soft serve and that looked great as well and is beautifully decorated! The customer service is also great! Definitely come here and check them out on Instagram since they post cute posts with their floral pattern sandwiches. read more

I highly recommend this little pop up store. The Japanese lady serving there has the japanese service manner which I sincerely miss. I had kurogoma kinako parfait which both are my favorite. As a little girl, my favorite sweet was kinako mochi. Soft ice cream is what I remember of tokyo milky Ice cream. I also bought two mixed fruit sandwich. Tiny square one is my favorite because of the size. The whip cream is just well prepped and as wonderful as it can be on simple shokupan. This was the highlight of our night. May I also add the packaging was perfectly neatly wrapped around the sandwich. read more

i've been waiting so long to try this but it didn't meet neither my expectations or the hype unfortunately. i tried the matcha deluxe sundae. it's way too big for one person so share between 2-3 ppl!! also the soft serve melts really fast and theres so much matcha jelly, custard, cracker under the soft serve it was too much matcha/sugar in one cup. i wish they offered smaller servings. nonetheless the matcha soft serve was soo good, although its just matcha syrup on the soft serve I would enjoy that alone than get the deluxe again. will come back to try the sando and bento bc it looks so good! happy they changed their hours and is open until 10 pm! beware limited seating especially during happy hour the tamari bar outside seating is full so there is only 6 chairs outside baiten to enjoy your sweet treats read more
Great value for dessert in the area! My Hojicha soft serve was piled high so I feel like I really got what I paid for. It definitely checks off the soft serve cravings! Only downside is that the hojicha flavor was a little understated. I really had to focus in order to make sure I was actually tasting hojicha rather than the vanilla soft serve base read more
Ambiance: it was a hold in a wall, literally, type of establishment. I can imagine it would be very fun eating outside of here during the summer but be prepared to dress warm when going here during the fall and winter. Service: standard as usual Food: the yuzu ice cream was a real delight. Extra creamy and the citrus flavor of the yuzu really balance it all out! I am looking forward to trying all their other flavors! read more

TLDR; a pop-up shop with japanese desserts, including cakes and vanilla soft serve ice cream with asian flavor drizzles. **emphasis on vanilla soft serve with a very subtle drizzle flavor** was super excited to come to baiten after hearing about their hojicha and black sesame soft serves! baiten is a small pop-up shop located in capitol hill. it's a very small shop with a few tables outside to sit at. // black sesame soft serve $5.00 // i was super excited to try the soft serve. it's $5.00 and was a really big portion - i honestly should've shared it with someone. i think it's important to emphasize that this is vanilla soft serve with a light drizzle of black sesame. i could barely taste any black sesame since the drizzle was pretty light -- once you eat the top, the rest is just vanilla. i thought it would have more flavor so i was underwhelmed. my friend got the hojicha soft serve and even when eating the syrup, i couldn't really taste any hojicha flavor. on its own, its good soft serve. i was just expecting the soft serve to have a stronger flavor. the service was friendly and the portion was big, but i left feeling like i just ate only vanilla soft serve :/ read more

Very interesting dessert place. I never tried fruit sandwich before. it was $7 and it's good that I shared with my husband because it's very sweet. Bread has a salty flavor, sour-sweet refreshing strawberry and sweet whipped cream. It was interesting experience. I saw also sundae but $13 it's a very steep price. Maybe I will try that one day too. read more
Located next to temari bar. Fruit sandwich: The cream is a little on the thicker side, which pairs well with the light/airy bread. I've always brought the sandwiches home and they were still yummy many hours later. However, I never tried leaving it in the fridge overnight. Strawberry is my favorite, but honestly they were all delicious. Sundae: the sesame was nutty and pairs well with the other toppings. Wished the soft serve was creamier though. Some outdoor tables available if you want to snack there. read more
