I didn't really use the gas fireplace this past winter, mainly because the season was fairly mild, and also because when I went to use it in November 2021, there was a problem with getting the unit to start. So after budgeting for it, I contacted Bryan at NOVA Fire Design for inspection and service. Bryan was very responsive and after my initial inquiry and he returned my phone call the same day. NOVA Fire Design (as of this review) charges a straight $199 for the visit and service + additional charges for parts if repairs are needed. Having contacted three other vendors who are in this field, NOVA Fire Design was the most reasonable. On the appointed day, Bryan showed up on time and made sure to lay down a blanket so as to not scratch up the floors and to catch any dirt and debris. Upon his inspection, he discovered that one of the gas lines was a bit clogged so he cleared it out, also found out the problem with the battery back-up ignition system, cleaned the and reset the logs, and even shined up the glass. One of my neighbors indicated that I "could've" done all of this myself by watching a few YouTube videos...which is technically true. However, when it comes to anything gas and something which could potentially burn my house down, I'll stick with a professional who knows what they're doing - and Bryan certainly does. I initially hired Gerber to tune-up all my existing pavers, add a new paver driveway, and add some new path lighting. Adding the new driveway was somewhat of a challenge as the adjacent paver sidewalks were initially constructed over 10 years ago. So, Gerber was able to find a great match to my existing pavers and masterfully piece the new driveway together in such a fashion where old and new appear seamless. Amazing!!! During the process, we learned that his team also offered landscaping. So as the hardscaping and lighting was coming to an end, his team met with us for a design consultation. Both Kathy and Katherine brought some great experience/knowledge to assess our current situation and offered wonderful ideas to the overall design.
