First off, please note that this review is based only on the service as I did not get to try anything. Recently my family has become addicted to snow cones thanks to the Hokulia by our house in Riverton. We frequent them very often. This evening when my wife came home from a meeting she stopped by to get us something and was disappointed that they closed due to the weather. So we looked to see where else we could go knowing it was already 9:30pm on a Tuesday. I was excited to not only find Bahama Bucks, but also because they were open until 10:30pm and they had pretty positive reviews. I got my wife's order and headed over to Draper. When I pulled up it was very colorful and lit up...nice decor to set the island mood. However, that was about the extent of "my" mood for the evening. I pulled in the drive-thru and began going over the menu when about 20 seconds in a female voice came on and said, "I'm sorry, but we are already closed". I responded and said "but your website states that you're open until 1030pm." She replied with "Yeah, that was before the school year." It was 10:02pm....if your times changed then you should update your website to reflect that. And if a customer shows up because of that and it's 2 minutes since you closed, do the right thing and serve the customer. They shouldn't be inconvenienced because of your neglect. Finally, it wasn't super far to drive to, but it was still 5 miles and incredibly disappointing. We will stick with Hokulia. read more

Bahama bucks is as close to the true islands shave ice as it gets. It's like eating snow! The flavors are delicious and there's quite the variety. They let you have more flavoring if you'd like (the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because a couple of times I've gone and there wasn't enough flavoring and I hit pure snow. If I had gone through the drive thru and experienced that I'd be sorely disappointed). In-store its awesome!!! read more

My son and I were so excited to see what was inside the cute building resembling the snow shacks we frequent in the summer. He'd been asking me for over two weeks to take him there, so tonight was our night. Sadly a disappointment!!! The price was right, the presentation of my shaved ice was adorable..... but the taste was less than satisfactory!! I'm going to assume here that they spent way too much money on their real-estate, which forced them to make their own blocks of ice using the tap water of their sink. Literally the shave ice tasted like water from a hose and in addition-left an after taste. The blue raspberry sauce couldn't even cover the taste. I sat at the window, after having paid, for at least 10 minutes while at least 4-5 customers received their orders inside. Stopped in today for the first time. Love the overall island vibe. My kids ordered their traditional shave ice and it was so soft and powdery. Also ordered a small pina colada smoothie with ice cream. The flavor was pretty good and I love the whip cream and cherry on top. I hate leaving bad reviews but I was so disappointed with Bahama Buck's. My husband convinced me to try Bahama Buck's a few nights ago, I usually love sno cones so I decided to give it a try! First it wasn't busy at all. There was only about two people in the restaurant and we were the only ones in the drive thru. We ordered a watermelon snowie and I ordered a frozen strawberry lemonade. After paying for our treats it took us 13 minutes to get them. The cashier didn't even apologize or tell us it would be a minute. After we drove away we were hoping that our frozen treats would make up for the wait as poor customer service, but they were disgusting. My husband who eats anything and everything wouldn't even eat my lemonade. He also made it three bites into his watermelon snowie until he gave up. We were so so disappointed. I have a few friends who have been raving about this place for the last few months so I figured it was time to try it out. I was pretty impressed. I love love love shaved ice and theirs was really amazing. It was shaved so thin that it was almost soft. The baby size was perfect for me and my 3 kids who got that size. Almost everyone there was so nice and helpful. In fact while we were sitting there eating two employees came up to check on us. One of them gave out a buy one get one free coupon. My son actually asked me "why is everyone here so nice?" The only person who was not nice was the lady taking our order. She was seriously less then helpful. She almost seemed annoyed at us for not knowing what we wanted. Made me feel a little rushed to order. We were all super happy with our choices thank goodness. Took us more than 40 minutes to receive our orders, the customers 5-6 people behind us got theirs before we did and the people in front of us never even got theirs and had to come back up to complain. When your staff appears to be a handful of 16-year olds, one of which loudly said "Deadass Bro" twice during our wait time, and nothing seems to be getting done... you can't help but wonder about the competency of your management staff. read more

We yet again have come to bahama bucks (BB), the person tells us to wait and we have waited 10 min and no-one is at the counter ordering. As we sat we watched the gal who put us on hold, go to her car and we still waited another 5 min. We just left a few minutes ago heading to the little shaved ice in front of Ream's. If you want to be extremely humiliated go here. They have terrible service and treat you like crap. I've been multiple times hoping for a better experience each time but it is always just as awful. The last time I went there I found many fruit flies in my drink. I showed the guy, but he and his friends were messing around throwing snow balls and one hit me. I always have great service and I always have great shaved ice! It's so soft and delicious and it melts in my mouth! It's definitely a teen hang out spot, which can not be so fun depending on what time you're there but doesn't take away from how good their shaved ice is! They can get pretty busy sometimes, especially close to their closing hours, so sometimes it may be a little bit of a wait. I lived in Arizona and was so excited to see it come to Draper. but when I come in and the place is nearly empty of customers but there are several kids working, and it takes 20 minutes to get a small Bahama mama rama because the staff of high schoolers are too busy talking to their friends, and I then have to take it back because there is very little syrup on it, it makes me rethink wanting to come here. The last couple times I have come there have been teenagers camped out in the line or by the cash register talking with the staff and slowing down the service. The staff consists of high schoolers who curse so loud for all to hear, a bit unprofessional, also they had 8 employees on a rainy dead weekday afternoon and kept cars waiting in the drive through, inside the store there was only 1 other table being used and still took about 10 min for the minimum wage workers to do their job. All of them just talking and swearing like they were hanging out and not at a job in a business. Kids were in the store and F bombs were flying. Today when we received our order at the drive thru window it was wrong, and when I explained the error to the young cashier, she said, "Oh," and abruptly closed the window in my face. I have come to this location two times now. I thought that maybe this time would be better. Sadly it wasn't. The shaved ice was great. The service was horrible. It took nearly 30 minutes from the time I pulled up to getting my order, and I only ordered one shaved ice. While ordering at the drive-thru I had to repeat myself twice and then on the third attempt the girl taking my order started joking through the headsets with another employee. I have taken my family of 4 there quite a few times sense the weather has been heating up. First couple times was great but lately there quality has been seriously slipping!!! 2 times we have gone and ended up with shaved ice that was nothing but flavorless snow in the middle and left us very disappointed! And we just went this afternoon and again it was mediocre. Don't let them "flat top" your order if your going drive through because that cuts out a lot of what you order. The drive through is also always seriously lacking in service generally. The girls that run it are always flirting with guys from there school (I assume) that drive through and talking about there weekend plans on the headsets. With that in mind I do think the fun and laid back atmosphere should be well maintained but attentiveness, service, and QUALITY should be equal priorities also!!
