I went there once without a reservation and was refused seating. No problem. So today being my birthday, I called to make a reservation for myself, my wife and 11 year old daughter who eats off the adult menu and was refused because my she wasn't 15!! That was a shabby excuse and I would not ever recommend this restaurant to anyone. They are apparently too full of themselves....I was a little disappointed because I thought I had found a good Italian restaurant (being an Italian from New York), but instead the owner was rude to me on the phone, so he lost a good customer for life. read more

Reviews built me up, experience let me down. Went here with my parents. At first, they hadn't turned their sign to say open but I took my chances and checked the door. We were in luck, but they almost lost us because of it if I hadn't felt like getting out of the car to check. Not a big deal, but the girl at the counter mention she always forgets, so I wonder how many times people left thinking they were closed. Anywho, we were the only ones in there for most of our time there. It took a while for bread to come out, but boy was it worth it! It melts in your mouth! Our food followed, they delivered each plate separately instead of all at once. Not a big deal again as it was one after the next, just a lot of back and forth for the server. The food was ok, none of us were particularly impressed. Service really lacked here... keep in mind we were the only people in here until the very end. My glass was empty through most of my meal. They never checked on us. Instead we got to listen to them read through a tenant/landlord contract the whole time. That was clearly more important than their customers. My glass finally got filled when we were ready for our check, and only because a couple walked in and he was bringing them water. I told him I did not need a refill at that point since we were done, and he responded "it doesn't matter" as he proceeded to fill the glass. We got our left overs to go, and a cannoli which was decent, but nothing like what you'd get in NY. I'm sure I'll be back to give it a second chance. They have several entree items, not not a lot of variety with sauces. I would love to see a pesto gnocchi on the menu. Hopefully next time has better food and better service. It's acceptable for Denton Italian which isn't saying much. Typical Italian/Albanian restaurant serving the same old same old. Better than most but still cheap Lisanti bagged frozen food and fake New York bravado. Not bad but just okay. Not original or great atmosphere. Servers have an attitude. It's decent at best. I don't write reviews very often but I wanted to make sure to leave one here because I just had the most lovely experience. The owner had just closed because of the weather before we got there (I'm not usually one to go into places after they close, but he insisted!) & stayed open for us. The atmosphere felt like I was sitting in Brewster cafe in animal crossing or some other peaceful-rainy day game. The food was delicious & the owner was so kind. AMAZING! We were the only 2 in the restaurant and he asked us what we didn't like and said he would make us a dish to our liking and surprise us. If we didn't like them, we didn't have to pay for them. Low and behold we loved them, this place is so good! We are in town to move our daughter back to school and wanted to try a new place on this trip. So I did a little research and found this place. Had good reviews and the pictures were amazing. Started with some bread which came to us warm and was delicious and the fried cheese. The cheese was good but it wasn't life altering. You could tell each one of the dishes was made fresh and from scratch. There were 5 of us and each one of us enjoyed what we hot and the portions were huge. I barely put a dent in my tortellini. I've been to this restaurant twice and both times it was amazing!! Atmosphere: This place feels very homey and it really feels like a family-owned restaurant. I felt like I was on a little date in Italy with some red wine. The music wasn't obnoxious at all but instead, it was very peaceful and romantic. This is a great place for a romantic date. You can go casual or dressed up. Food: I got the Lobster Ravioli and my boyfriend got the Chicken Marsala. Both were great options! As an Asian person, I dislike oily and salty Italian food. However, the food here was not salty nor oily and it was perfect. From the sauce to the texture of the pasta, everything tasted just right. They also give you hot bread with butter. It's super soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. YUM. I believe the owner does most of the cooking himself and despite that, the food only took 10-15 min. The food here can get pretty pricey but it's worth it! BYOB: this place offers BYOB, so we brought a bottle of wine and they give you wine glasses. NO corking fee! Overall I give this place a 5/5. The owner here is super kind and is a wonderful man who really tries to get to know his customers. my partner and I came here for dinner this evening really excited to try this place -- we've lived in denton for quite some time and love italian and haven't ever made our way over here. we ordered our drinks and were looking over the menu, when we received a call from one of our family members with an emergency that required our immediate attention. we waved down our waiter and informed him of what was going on and asked for the bill for the one soft drink we had gotten so far so that we could go ahead and leave, but we were told it was on the house and that we could hurry up and get where we needed to go. a man who i can only presume was the owner stood at the register, watching this interaction, and then raised his voice at us in front of all the other guests to tell us that we need to get out and never come back, and that we are never to show our faces there again. my partner communicated to him that again, we had offered to pay and were happy to, but he just repeated himself, literally as I was exiting and on the phone with my distressed family member. as if my partner and I would be low enough to intentionally dine and dash on a cup of water and a $3 cup of soda, after literally only being in the restaurant for 5-10 minutes. unsure if the hostility came from his idea that we were trying to dine and dash, or if it is because my partner and i are both women, or if it was how we were dressed, or what. the owner had been unkind to us from the minute we walked in. wouldn't recommend this place. read more

We were looking for an Italian restaurant to eat at that wasn't Olive Garden and we stumbled upon this cute mom and pop shop. The owner was the sweetest, we called ahead to make sure they weren't too busy as it was a Friday night and they actually set aside a table for us. Bread, fantastic. Parmesan cheese, unbelievable. DENTON'S BEST KEPT SECRET: The music was relaxing and appropriate for fine family dining, The food was delicious and piping hot. Caesar Salad was great. We recommend the Sausage Lasagna and also the Spaghetti bc that's what we had but I'm sure anything on the menu would be just as good. GENEROUS PORTIONS so after the salad I couldn't eat much of my spaghetti. So Sid (owner, manager, cook) put it in a container for me. EVERYTHING WAS LOVELY. If you like cardamom try the ice tea - DELICIOUS - we bought some to take home. Obviously, we are going back and we will be taking more family and friends. So much fun and what great food. This is such a great place. It's family run by such wonderful people. We ordered so much more than we needed but it was all so good. The sausage, the meatballs and the beef ravioli top notch. Not to mention the homemade bread brought to the table. Our favorite Italian in the US is a place in Dania Beach, Florida called Mundi's. Tried the place on a whim. Walked in and while at the counter, I could see the guy in the kitchen handling cooked spaghetti, pulling it out of a bowl, with his bare hands. I wasn't impressed. Apparently the owner was the only person working, cook, waiter, server, busser, and cashier. The guy didn't come across as very friendly. My meal, was ok, nothing to write home about. My dates food, well, she spent the next couple of days down sick with food poisoning, most likely from what she was served there. The menu is unreasonably pricy in my opinion. The owners do everything with care, making just about everything from scratch, the wait times may be a little longer, but the end results are delicious; from the fried appetizers, to the pastas to the pizzas, everything comes together with fantastic flavors. Bagheri seems like a hole in the wall place. It's on the side of University that no one really passes by. It may not look like the fanciest restaurant to dine in but the food is absolutely mind blowing! First of they make their stuff from scratch! The pasta is not of barilla caliber. You can absolutely taste the difference and texture in their freshly made pasta. And the warm toasty bread which they serve as a free appetizer is absolutely delicious! I also had the fried mushrooms and of course it did not disappoint!. Now to the winner of the overall meal! *drum roll* The winner went to the Chicken Marsala with mushroom and pasta. The chicken and mushrooms were so well infused with the sweetness of the Marsala. Pair that with their homemade pasta and you're in heaven! This is definitely hands down my favorite restaurant in Denton. The restaurant is family owned and they do a fantastic job of making you feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. They have plenty of parking and getting a table at dinner time isn't a hassle. The most distinguishing characteristic about Bagheri's is that the food is delicious and they don't try to maul your wallet. They start off the meal with a heavier fluffy bread that I usually coat in butter and Parmesan cheese which they keep for you on the table. After which you order your meal and proceed as usual. I ordered the spinach Ravioli pimiento. pimiento peppers are simply added to a spinach ravioli dish. The ravioli is fantastic, it doesn't crumble as soon as you pick it up, the inside isn't too dry and outer layer of the ravioli noodle isn't too thick. The sauce that the ravioli comes in is a creamy tomato base that I usually sop up with a piece of their bread so that I don't waste a drop. service has always been on point, the chef will come out every now and then and say hello to people and the waitresses (not discriminating, just didn't see any waiters) are prompt and friendly engaging you in light conversation even if you are new to the place. By far the best restaurant in Denton and I'll keep going back. read more

This place can be good or bad depending on your expectations and experiences when walking in. If you're looking for standard American Italian, this will likely be your jam. All of my friends seem to love this place, and I can understand why. For me personally, my favourite part was the crunchy, oily bread. It's not comparable to anything I've ever had, and it definitely doesn't remind me of of any Italian/American Italian breads/rolls I've had. It's a fiasco all in itself, and it's great with some butter and parm ontop. The dama bianca sauce is also good, and the portions are pretty hefty. If you're looking for more authentic Italian cuisine (or at least more al dente/less saucy dishes), this place isn't for you. I just came back from Italy about a month ago, and an authentic/close to authentic joint does not exist in Denton as far as I know. I can kind of appreciate American Italian cuisine at this point, but I really don't care for it or crave it at all. With my expectation (more authentic Italian cuisine), this place was disappointing. For American Italian, this is one of the better joints in Denton, but they're all the same standard/likely not fresh-made dishes one can expect. It is what it is. Came here with my best friend. She was passing through Denton and wanted Italian, found it on yelp. I had the spaghetti puttanesca, the waiter warned me it was salty, (of course, I mean it has anchovies, and capers!) but yeah, it was salty. Not bad though. My BFF had the lobster ravioli and it looked really good, but she said it seemed quite salty as well. She ordered a can Dr Pepper, and they give free refills. All in all, a good dinner, though.
