I have been a fan of this place for years! My first appeal with it is the wonderful Victorian home that houses the restaurant. It kind of sets the tone and ambiance for me right of the bat everytime I come. I have always been impressed with the service here. It feels a little "homey" sometimes, and to me, that's what good Italian food is all about, family and home! On this visit I ordered cheese sticks as an appetizer and Chicken with Alfredo. We went here for my mom's birthday since she was in town visiting and our kids wanted to see where my wife and I had our rehearsal dinner many years ago. My wife have been once two years ago and were disappointed but wanted to give them another shot. Giuseppe's impressed at our recent visit. Our server, Caleb, was excellent. The food was so good and the desserts were all fantastic especially my favorited the tiramisu. It was hot where our table was but I can't totally blame them for how hot it is in Denton right now. It would be nice if the space was cooler or had more fans. We will be back though likely without kids next time to better enjoy the experience. This place is not for me. The lighting is far too dark and made seeing our food so difficult we literally took out cell flash lights in order to see what we were eating. The server forgot my dessert which was my meal so I never ate it. The house salad is the saddest salad I've ever seen. The kitchen and restroom are less than kept to the standard I refer and deserve. The restaurant is located in an area with beautiful period homes. It looks like a residential home on the outside. We entered behind another couple and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The table was covered in black tablecloth and the lighting was yellow and dim. It was difficult to read the menu and I had to take out my phone flashlight to see it clearly. Our server was friendly and prompt. She was nice, but she never introduced herself. We ordered: -Bruschetta ($5.95). Rate - 8/10, definitely different, but nice flavor, needs more tomatoes and basil. -Granchio (crab-stuffed mushrooms) $7.95. Rate - 5/10 & 8/10 - I didn't like it that much. The "champaine" sauce drowned the flavor of the filling. I could not taste the crab due to the sauce. My husband liked it. -Insalata Caprese ($7.95). Rate - 6/10 - Large, thick slices of mozzarella. Included lots of ingredients, but husband said just okay. -Veal piccata (Grilled veal scaloppini sauteed in lemon butter sauce, w/mushrooms & capers) $15.95. Rate - 6/10 - Husband said it was different. Described it "like a chicken fried steak with a lemony sauce." He said the noodles sauce was like from a bottle. -Pasta Della Positana - after server suggestion instead of lasagna. (Pasta with italian sausage, ground beef, mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions in an alfredo sauce with a touch of marinara ($15.95). Rate 6/10 - I was excited to get this because server said she would pick this over the traditional lasagna dish. When she brought it, my first impression was "Spaghetti and meatballs?" I flipped the meat over and that's when I saw the marinara sauce was covering the sausage and the ground beef underneath. The alfredo sauce was underwhelming. The dish was just okay. Authentic, cozy, and so nice for a large group if you call ahead or a small date night. In an old 2 story victorial right off the square in historic Denton, this place has been a staple for years and years. The staff are either family or mostly long time friends of the family of the owners ans really pour themselves into their work and service. Rhere is nothing better than authentic Italian dishes. Giusseppe's grandmother turned in her grave last night! This place is an insult to Italy and it's great cuisine. We were a group of eight and only one person ordered a dish with marinara sauce, and although the rest of us all ordered different dishes, they all looked and tasted the same. All were covered in some sort of the same whitish sauce. I ordered chicken artichoke in a lemon butter sauce and what I got was 1/4 of a piece of canned artichoke, no lemon, no butter. The accompanying pesto pasta was green but had no taste at all. No idea what this Italian chef is thinking when his dishes leave his kitchen. The greatest insult of the evening was the server, who came around with parmesan cheese. Oh boy, this powder was straight out of a plastic can. The service was as bad as the food, slow and painful by 8:20 we got out checks handed although we were still sitting, talking, drinking. The credit card machine also died that night and some of us were forced to pay in cash. Guiseppe should also invest in a decent dishwasher, the plates were dirty and sticky underneath. In all, save your money, go to Kroger buy a package of pasta, a jar of fettuccine sauce and a nice bottle of wine. Cheaper and better. read more

This is was our first visit to Giuseppe's and I have to say it is the last. Our family friend used to come here with her husband about 10 years ago and told us how great it was so we came to try it. She told us about their freshly made pasta that they make in house, I doubt that is the case anymore. The building itself needs needs A LOT of work. The decor is non existent and the all black linens on the table is a bit depressing. There are huge cracks in the plaster of the walls, dirty windows including spider eggs sacks on the inside surface closest to the table. The waiter attempted to take our order by memory and got it wrong. We didn't say anything and just ate our food. I wish wait staff would just write it down! You don't impress anyone by trying to memorize the order and wrong at that. The food wasn't anything great. The salads were kind of small and dressing on the house salad was weird. The entrees were mediocre at best and lacking, I dare to say the sauces are out of a jar. Tiramisu was unathentic as you can get. A funny thing also happened while we were there, I asked for some teaspoons to eat the Flan with because the waiter brought forks. He came back with a soup and a huge serving spoon! I guess people do not know what a teaspoon is? My 7 years old granddaughter even knows what we were brought was incorrect because she held the spoon up and laughed saying look at this spoon. Upon leaving, my daughter noticed the metal staicase outside and the rusted out supports on the underside. This restaurant needs Gordon Ramsey to come by for a visit. Save yourself the trouble and just go to Olive Garden. Terrible experience. Server offered to customize any dish ordered but when we began customizing, quickly became agitated and very obviously annoyed. Server requested our orders be changed to "make it easier". Orders still came out wrong with pastas/sauces all mixed up and on the wrong plates. Moscato wine was watered down. Awful quality. About 95% sure the Mozzerella Frita is frozen and not made fresh. The mozzarella cheese inside doesn't even stretch when bit into. Ordered bruschetta without garlic and onions. Bruschetta came out the first time with garlic and onions. Was taken back to kitchen and then came out with garlic after we were told garlic and onions were taken off. The server questioned if "I was sure" there was garlic still on it. We were charged for the appetizer after sending back again and refusing any new one. Pasta was extremely over cooked and mushy. Basically disintegrated as soon as you put it in your mouth. Picatta sauce was more like hollandaise sauce. Have never seen a picatta sauce look like this sauce. Server brought butter for bread and proceeded to throw the butter cups that were just in her hands into the bowl all over our bread. When asked if everything was tasting okay, I simply replied, "Not really. I think we're ready for our check." With platefuls of food, we were given our $88 check and never questioned once as to why it wasn't tasting okay or why we didn't eat. read more

We had Our dinner delivered from here and once received nothing looked appetizing at all. Ordered a salad and it had no lettuce, bruschetta one order was thrown in the box the other wasn't even cut up. Manicotti looked like they put ketchup on top and the fettuccine Alfredo barely had any Alfredo sauce. When I called up there to let them know they argued with me about everything. I ended up taking it back up there to show the manager. The manager tried to put it off on the delivery service. The delivery service had nothing to do with the poor quality of food delivered. The pasta was the only thing that somewhat made it through. It lacked in flavor, temperature, and overall quality. The bread they start off with is likely just a french roll from a grocery store. Not hot at all! Just bread. What they called bruschetta was an insult! It was garlic bread, not toasted, will stuff thrown on top! HORRIBLE. I ordered a caesar salad and my friend ordered the creamy Italian. The dressing were incredibly watery. I'm normally the picky one, but this time my friend agreed. For my entree I ordered pasta with mushrooms. I ate it after adding some salt and pepper. The mushrooms weren't cooked long enough like everything else. Really low quality. Ok so the food here was ok. The appitziers were a bit of a disappointment to me. Bruschetta had way to much balsamic vinaigrette on it and all I tasted was vinager. The stuff crab mushrooms were just ok. The main dish was salmon with a cream sauce and the pasta was good. I liked this the best. The dessert was good too. I loved the setting of the restaurant in a house, so A plus to ambiance. They had a very good wine list, but I wasn't drinking. So go try it if you want to and see if you like it. read more

Went here with average expectations based on Yelp and other reviews. Had a below average experience. Owner and staff seemed harried when we entered (before the dinner rush). Didn't receive a proper greeting/welcome. Bruschetta was half a loaf of Italian bread with melted cheese and a few chunks of diced tomato drizzled with balsamic. Portabello mushroom appetizer was small portion compared to other restaurants and lacked flavor. We had 4 entrees all of which were barely fair. The lemon butter sauce tasted more like hollandaise. Presentations were lacking. For a few pennies more they could have made it more visually appealing. The decor/ambiance missed the mark. And no thank you from the owner on our way out. On September 13th we had my Son and Fiancee Wedding Rehearsal at Guiseppe's Italian Restaurant in Denton. We had a group of 35 there that evening. Guiseppe himself called me before the start to ask if we had any questions... The Day of the Dinner Guiseppe called again to make sure or ask if we had anything we needed. We were very lucky to to have Piper as one of the Servers. Piper had been assigned to us several weeks before the event and she made sure we had the best Menu and choices of food for our party. She even made sure we had a Portable Screen for a video we wanted to show. The night of the Rehearsal Dinner we had Piper and Caleb who did everything for us and everyone was very happy with the food and service. arrived on a saturday and surprisingly wasn't busy. we were able to get a table quick and the service was awesome, our server often coming by with more bread for the table. the food was absolutely amazing. i ordered the salmone al granchio, which turned out to be the best tasting salmon i've ever had. the pasta pesto was the cherry on top. the sauce was creamy and just perfect. i loved the atmosphere of the place, as the restaurant was basically a home, and everyone seemed nice. read more

Today my grandma passed, I wanted a salad and pasta to settle my upset stomach. I called Giuseppe's and placed a Togo order. I arrived and everyone was friendly. I felt completely out place but thought hey this should be fine. Needless to say the restaurant is 1 mile from my house. I get my food stop for brownie and head home. I opened my salad box which was what I was excited about only to see what looks like someone else leftovers. I am all about food presentation. Just looking at this made my stomach turn. You can't tell me this doesn't look preate. I called twice to notify them, yet was left on hold. I just counted it as a loss. I added time stamps just to show from the time I paid until the time. I threw everything away because my wouldn't let me eat the pasta either. So I had a brownie and ice cream. The very best thing was the fact that we had a lovely dinner and we were all able to hear each other and actually have group conversations. Located in that pretty Victorian home on Locust, I've seen vehicles struggle to get in and out for years. I had never tried them between the limited parking and reports of them being overpriced. However, they had a reputation for good Italian and so my expectations were high. A couple of months ago I ordered some desserts for my birthday. Their cheesecake was pretty good and lived up to the price. I found their gluten free chocolate tort to be bitter and dry and disappointing. I wondered if I just like my gluten too much, or if this was as bad as I thought. A few days ago I was struck with a craving for Italian, and after reviewing the prices, decided I didn't mind giving them a try through delivery after all. I'm super close, so I knew the food wouldn't get cold, and I wouldn't have to find parking or wait for my husband to get off work, I could eat now! I agonized over the menu for a while, a lot sounded good, but I was held captive by their specials. I chose the Tilapia alla Florentine for $12.95 which is grilled tilapia with a champagne cream sauce, served with shrimp, capers and pasta pesto. I felt like the price wasn't bad at all, especially if they were as good as they claimed. I would say many of the prices are average, or just slightly higher than others in the area. The salmon dishes were much higher, and also on my radar, but the tilapia won out. I also had a difficult time deciding between a lobster sauce and a dish with a champagne sauce, the menu has a decent selection. I also ordered the Tiramisu for $6.95. The food took a while to make, longer than expected. Not sure how busy an average Thursday is though. The bread is very good, I wish I had more of it. The salad is simple with just a few tomoatoes and onions mixed in. The dressing was excellent and kept me eating the salad, it was very good. Good bread and great dressing was a great start to the meal! The tilapia was cooked through and was cut with a fork with no effort, but the dish was very messy. There was entirely too much of the sauce drowning everything and I just thought the sauce was okay. I think it would have tasted just as good dry to be honest. The tilapia was fine, the shrimp were pretty good, but there were only two pieces. I liked the pasta pesto, there were some bites that tasted too strong, but overall it was a good side dish and there was plenty of it. I would like to point out that the pasta was cooked correctly, which is something that goes wrong at a lot of places. The tiramisu was quite decadent, but the texture and temp were all wrong. It was too cold and the bread wasn't as soft as it should be, so it kind of fell apart. 2 out of 3 desserts were a bust, that makes me sad, I love dessert. I'm sorry though, $6.95 for what they served was kind of insulting. I might give the food another try as it was okay. It just didn't fulfill the expectations I had for this place based on their reputation. It wasn't bad, it was even better than some of the local competition, but it wasn't great and there are better places in town. To be fair, since dessert shouldn't be as heavy a factor as the entrees (Gasp! What??) I would say it was actually more like 3 1/2 stars. If Zero stars was an option I would have used it! Let's start by saying the appetizers where not very special - The small Caesar was a simply bag lettuce with some cheap, barely there dressing- such a shame they don't take pride in their food! Next and this is huge, almost all entrees are sauced with Alfredo, I'll bet it comes out of a food service company's can. Not much to say, other then it's not good. I sure don't understand these reviews, I would eat almost anywhere before eating this trash. I will never go to this restaurant again, it's really not very good, we have way to many great options. Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant looks like a little bed and breakfast in from the outside. Upon entering it's a small house they have changed into several dining areas. Since we have a big group we were lead into the back for a family meal setting. It was a fixed meal selection but 9 choices to make a decent selection. I choose the Pasta Positano, which has pasta, sausage, mushrooms and onions. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and we were the only ones in the place. He was curt with our questions as he poured the water. Thankfully I opted for tea because a lot of the guest in my party didn't like the taste of the water. The bread was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed my pasta. I think the only concern from everyone was that the food wasn't seasoned. Everyone was fighting for the salt and pepper to get some flavor out of the bland food. I would like start off by saying that if you have not been to Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant, then you have been missing out on some great Italian food! Plus it is just a short walk from the Denton Square! I was nervous it would be too formal of a restaurant, but instead it was a very calm and welcoming environment. Everything was very clean, including the table cloths and silverware, and the service was fantastic. My waitress checked on me several times, refilled my water, provided more bread, and asked if I needed anything several times. The food was AMAZING! This was Italian good that didn't sit heavy, but instead everything was light and very tasty. This is the first place that I have seen a combination of chicken parmesan and alfredo, and it was delicious. I've been coming to Giuseppe's for a decade, and the last 3 or 4 times I've gone have been a little sad. I understand that the last year has been hard on businesses, so I'm hopeful things will pick up. When last I visited, about a week ago, the interior of the restaurant was notably unclean. Stains on the walls, cobwebs, lots of dust. The food was bland, and much of it tasted as though it had previously been frozen. The dishes were over-sauced, and the sauces seemed thin or watered down.
