Having spent many a summer vacationing on LBI in Surf City and even lived a year in Manahawkin in my early twenties it wasn't until I was about 13 or 14 (and having a father who grew up at a summer house in Lavalette) that he found Bageleddis. I think it was sometime after our favorite bake shop in Surf City closed and he needed an alternate. In any event, we honestly aren't big bagel folk having been from central CT. For us the epic moment came when we had their crumb cake. I consider myself a bit of a purist when it comes to coffee cake having had it for breakfast most of my life. Entenmann's original and then their "deluxe" version as well as all manner of convenience store varieties and other independent bakeries as well. Nothing and I repeat nothing compares to Bageleddi's crumb cake. It totally fits with what we all as children loved about coffee or crumb cake. The crumbs on top are positively enormous and the ratio of said crumbs to cake is completely disproportionate. Which after having had it for so many years as I have is the way I feel it ought to be and Bageleddi's has set the standard as far as I am concerned. It is so good and so well-loved in my family that one year for Christmas I bought an entire half sheet tray of it and made the drive from Manahawkin up to my parents house and gave it to them for Christmas. And I couldn't have picked a better gift. So thank you to the fine folks at Bageleddi's for doing what you do. This is a nice spot to go for good bagels on the island. Make sure to get there early. They have a great selection of bagels! Everything always looks so good when i go here. I think ill try the crumb cake next time. This place is worth a try. Stop driving by and go in. I loved the old location and the bagels are still decent. I found this experience negative, very unorganized and harrowing compared to other busy bagel shops on LBI for the price. I've been to a few other bagel places on the island and this one was fine like the rest of them. Nothing groundbreaking taking place here, but if you are after a muffin, a doughnut or a bagel you'll find decent ones here. The staff was friendly which is always a good thing. There is more going on here food choice wise, but we were just after the bagels. I'm pretty sure I'll be back to check out what else they have to offer. read more

My wife and I visit LbI every year and during our visits, we always get breakfast at Bageleddi's! Best NY style bagels you can get on the island. It's a really low-key place and you'll see it very busy on the weekends while people are getting bagels or sandwiches for the beach. Would have loved to try the bagels, called 27 times to order takeout, only to be met with a recording that the line was busy. Walked down to try to place an order, line was wrapped around the corner. We were trying to get to the beach early, so waiting that long wasn't an option. We started coming here last year at the old location. Always a line out the door. The new location is very modern and the outdoor seating is a nice addition. Good bagels. Decent coffee. Be prepared to sweat though ! There is no AC so waiting for that tasty bagel could cause heat stroke ! read more

Our favorite breakfast on LBI. Bagels great and it is easy to get em while they are hot. True NY style though at a buck a bagel a bit on the pricey side. Great coffee cake and Apple turnovers too. They have quality products and the staff is really nice, however, they have some operational issues. First the lines. When you have a good product, you gotta be willing to wait, but if you're only ordering bagels there should be a "bagel only" line. (no exceptions. no drinks, not "just one danish", nothing BAGELS ONLY. Second: the air conditioning. I understand that the ovens are right in the main business area and that's heating it up, but add in the heat of summer day and the long wait and customers will bail. Also, they need to hustle just a teensy bit more... everyone here is honestly trying hard...plus working in the heat, but one worker was laying a danish in the bag like it was a crystal vase.... that's valuable time that needs to given back to the other customers patiently waiting. I'm not saying I would NEVER go back, but I'll never go back at 8am on a Saturday again. Worth the trip for good stuff but otherwise, plan your trip accordingly. read more

Went into Bageleddi's looking for a simple bagel sandwhich and iced coffee. A long line was expected, since it was a Sunday morning on memorial day weekend. We waited in line for about 30 minutes to place our order. I ordered an iced coffee, but they were out of regular milk- the only options being almond and oat. I ordered an iced caramel latte with almond milk, and a bagel with sausage and bacon on it. My order was repeated to me correctly. I waited twenty minutes to get my order. The iced coffee came out with expired almond milk, tasting terribly. I checked my bagel and it only had bacon on it, when I paid for sausage and bacon. I asked for them to fix my order, and they pushed me to the side for ten minutes. They finally took me and told me my order would be right out. Twenty minutes later, I still haven't gotten my order and asked what was happening. The workers gave me attitude and told me my order was placed in the back of the line to be fixed. My bagel came out on a mini bagel, when I ordered and paid for a full bagel. Never coming here again. read more

Yummy bagels and a great selection of choices. The bagels are warm and toasty and there is a nice variety, and good cream cheese too. We love this place. Best bagels by far compared to all of the other local places. They're fresh and tasty and if you're from up north, you'll appreciate the authenticity even more. The restaurant is clean and the staff has always been very pleasant. The layout is perfect and large enough to accommodate the crowds when they get busy unlike other places. Been coming to LBI and Bageleddis for almost 30 years now. First time I've had a terrible experience. Not sure if there are new owners or a new sense of operations after moving, but the breakfast sandwiches are absolutely disgusting now. So much grease and egg everywhere they're almost uneatable. Sandwich contents are bigger than the bagels which are now jokingly smaller. Sandwich was almost impossible to even hold and hold together Ripoff and mismangement clear as day. Just spent the week in LBI, and this place was easy to find, relatively easy parking (if you like to get up early!), and solid bagels. Definitely recommend, and especially if you are driving onto the island just to grab breakfast - easy on, easy back over bridge. read more

Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches today. They forgot about our order and we waited about 20 min there. When I said something I was given an excuse it's because there were phone orders ahead of us... right, that's why I watched over 10 people behind us order food at the counter and get their orders before us. Not one apology. Used to come here years ago and stopped because the service was bad and every time they were out of what I ordered (chicken cutlet). I left a review two years ago after the new owners took over and I was disappointed in the unsteady schedule. I stated that I was forced to go to Bagels and Beyond, which USED to not be as good as Bageleddis, but given the current state of Bageleddis' bagels/breakfast sandwiches, I now much prefer Bagels and Beyond (for one thing, their everything bagels actually have stuff on there and aren't a weak attempt at throwing some seeds on a bagel). Bageleddis used to be my summer staple and a go to for many of the locals and lifeguards, but it has taken a steep downturn under the new ownership. I've tried returning last summer and this year..still no bueno. Like many other past repeat customers, this place is off the list. read more

I've always loved their bagels and everything is always very fresh. However I'm really disappointed as they never seem to get my orders correct. The girls will even repeat the order back to you to confirm what you asked for, and then you will unwrap your bagel and it will be the completely wrong order. I don't understand the earlier reviews. I live a stones throw from Bageleddi's, have been in there dozens of times and have yet to get a decent bagel. Small, hard and lousy. An LBI favorite. This place has great pastries and bagels and great HOT fresh brewed coffee. Since the bagels are fresh out of the oven (or boiler?), there's no need to toast these puppies. Bagels to go are roughly $1 apiece. Salt bagels are perfect- not too salty, not under-salted. Cream cheese is plain only. Make sure to bring cash as they falsely advertise they take CCs. (There's a third party ATM inside if you don't read this review upfront!) Not just the best bagels on LBI, but some of the best bagels anywhere. Bageleddi's has some of the best bagels I have ever had. Period. They strike exactly the right balance among, crispy, chewy and flavorful. They are not too rubbery, are not under-cooked and have just the right amount of salt in the dough. They were not too bulky or puffy Over a week on LBI, I went several times to bring bagels back to our party and had the chance to try a variety of flavors, none of which are crazy. The sesame bagels tasted of toasted sesame, as did the crunchy garlic bagels of garlic, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is that the "famous" crumb cake was nothing special, being flavorful but dry. read more

I had the most unpleasant experience at this bare minimums bagel place on Long Beach Island. I will get to my biggest complaint first. The handlers of the bagels wore no gloves with the exception of one girl. The owners were 2 of the the rudest people I have ever met. And they also wore no gloves while handling money, touching the cash register, opening the back door to bring bagels outside. Disgusting!!! The older woman with the short blond hair constantly scolded people to move outside of the establishment to wait for their food. She actually said the fire code only allows 40 people. Now there weren't close to 40 people in there and if this was really a concern, they should have had somebody at the front door like they did at the old location. But she did not like people standing in front of her. The older bald headed guy was just as rude. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese for me and my girlfriend ordered an egg and cheese on a bagel. They brought mine out quickly by itself. We waited and waited for my girlfriend's bagel. Finally, I went up to the large bald owner. He looked at my receipt and said it ONLY been 10 minutes. I said 10 minutes to make that bagel. He replied and I quote "you're not the only sandwich back there". Wow. That's the response of a business owner to a customer. By the time it came out it was 15 minutes. Totally unprofessional people. I will never go back there. And just keep in mind that they DON'T WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING YOUR FOOD. So I've been going to Ship Bottom every summer since I was about 2, having owned a house there for over 20 years. I've gone to a lot of bagel and breakfast places in LBI, and none of them beat Bageleddi's. The bagels here are always soft and fresh, the breakfast sandwiches they make are amazing, and the owners and workers are very friendly. Plus everything is very inexpensive.
