Bagels are OK... Not horrible. The rest of the experience is just unnecessarily bad. The prices on the menu behind the counter don't match the price they actually charge you. I asked while I was waiting just to make conversation and they blamed the owner. Said "she" just changes things! Oh yeah and $1.20 for butter on your bagel. Can't wait until they have competition. They do not put prices on the menu because they charge different prices for certain bagels (like $1 extra for an asiago bagel). And when we asked the price for a breakfast bagel, the actual price was much higher than what she quoted us. We will not go back here due to that alone, because when a food place has to hide prices, and cannot be consistent on what price they tell you 3 minutes before they ring you up, we do not trust the company and do not want to give them our business. The breakfast bagel was okay, but not for what they charged us. And $1.66 for a bagel and an added dollar more for an asiago bagel was a turn-off to us. read more

I need this place near my home! The reviews drew me to it for a bagel breakfast this morning, on my way to the beach. I was glad to see they serve Nova lox, because that's usually what I purchase at bagel shops. It is served with onion, tomatoes and I added capers. The ratio of each was perfect. OMG - so delicious. I usually get everything bagel, but again, the reviews pointed me to Asiago and it was heavenly. A nice touch is a pickle spear and a small cup of pasta salad on the side. If I get off beach early, enough I may be back for a bagel for the ride home. read more

Wow, I feel dumb for not finding this great bagel joint earlier! It's been here since 2016, oh well. Ok so the Asiago bagels were the best my wife has ever had according to her. We've been to many bagel shops so that's saying a lot. I had a Lox bagel made all the way with capers, tomatoes, and onions and I'd say it's very good! Not the best I've had but pretty dang good. The chocolate muffins are very moist and tasty. We enjoyed it so much that we took a dozen with us back home. The staff is super cheery and happy to help with any selection choices. We are putting this one down as a must go to along with the Purple Onion and Joey O's! read more

Stopped here on a Tuesday around lunch and split the Godfather on a plain bagel. The sandwich was good and fresh. We ordered it with a side of potato salad. The salad really didn't have a lot of flavor but it was cold and fresh. I didn't see the asiago bagels until after I ordered, next time we will try that. Everyone here was really friendly and it was clean. Give them a try if you are in Shallotte. read more

I loved the bagel I had, but I think y'all should definitely try the different bagels like French toasts and definitely go for some cream cheese. I know some might think it's disgusting putting cheese on a French toast, but not trying is a loss for you. In conclusion if you are ever near the beach go to this bagel and get yourself a warm bagel with some weird cream cheese and enjoy it. I would like to though give a suggestion to the owner and say that I would have wanted more choline's in the meet and eggs and vegetable. Pretty close to a NorthEast bagel but not exact. Bagels not substantial enough, you go right through it. A real NorthEast bagel requires a lot of chewing. They must not use much of the high gluten dough. These are just a little better than what you buy at the supermarket in the bag only because of the crust. My cinnamon raisin bagel had a small amount of raisins. I thought maybe they were associated with the Bagel Dock in Calabash and the bagels come from there but I guess not. Bagels at Bagel Dock in Calabash do pass the test. read more

We stopped through Bagel Dock Express last weekend when we were leaving OIB and I am so glad that we did! The bagels were so delicious! The perfect mix of soft and crisp ( if you are from NY you understand what I mean). The staff was kind and quick and the place was crowded! I highly recommend their chocolate muffins! I stopped into this restaurant on my way to the beach and might I say, I am so glad I did! The owner Phil and his employees were happy to fulfill my dreams of getting a Sausage, Egg, and Cheese. They were very professional and quick to get my order out to me on the outside patio. I also sampled the Greek Macaroni salad and Egg salad, all made fresh daily. Further, the price for my Sausage, Egg, and Cheese was only $1.60 without tax included. I cannot wait for my next stop in Shalotte so I can try yet another thing on the menu! read more

My new favorite bagel shop. It is hard to improve on the original, but BDE in Shallotte far outshines the original shop in Calabash. BDE trucks the bagels up from Bagel Dick in Calabash, but their cream cheese mix is better, service is better and ambiance is WAY better.
