This is my favorite bagel store! The huge line tells you how fresh and delicious everything is. I've driven from two towns over to go here, passing about a dozen bagel stores on the ride. Easily the best bagels on Long Island! I've been going here for at least 20 years and I've never had a bad meal. Everything they serve is delicious. The interior is clean and nicely decorated, theirs lots of seating, and even when the line is out the door (which is all the time) it moves pretty quickly. I can comment about restaurant aspects, but that is not what impels this. They make the best bagels,bialys and flagels obtainable at a single place in the tri-state (and beyond ) area. The free half dz, (or cream cheese) with each dozen bought is also ,tough. Location in shopping center in SE quadrant of nexus of the Vet, JerichoTpk,, Town Line Rd, et al - is lousy. So I would recommend avoid feeding times at the Zoo because of the crowds. Their Menu features a wider selection of options than found at national bagel chains like Brueggers and Einsteins, and their coffee ,surprisingly, is better than most places featuring that beverage. Keep in mind we are not discussing "candy coffee" here. That stuff only exists for people who don't like coffee to begin with.. Since most employees of Starmuck, Seabilge , etc- don't give a crap about what they are doing - I suppose that isn't much of a recommendation. In any event, since they aren't kosher, they provide an array of foods wrapped in bread stuffs that is more varied than usual in the sandwich shop/deli axis. They have dessert items which are OK like breakfast cakes, cookies, yogurt,etc.. Since I make my own desserts , and go to Carl Ehrmer's , Bolskis, and Feinsteins for cold cuts from the sources - my focus is the bread. They are peerless for non confectionary types of bagels (i.e. sans chocolate chips, and other confectionary elements -albeit they make them), based upon whole grains and seed/herb ingredients. So sitting down with your favorite collection of spreads and accessorial meats,cheeses, vegetable matter and your own favorite beverages along with Bagel Chalet wares is what eating is all about. As for the atmosphere, the music isn't too loud and the servers are friendly and personable. As for the food, way overpriced and not fresh. If you want a sandwich they don't make it fresh for you, they take it out of the display and simply heat it up. I worked at the bowling alley across the street and ever since ownership has changed they seem to not care about anything but profit. We had an agreement where they would deliver up to 9 dozen bagels a week and we would pay them weekly. The bagels were old and hard, which led to my league bowlers complaining. When I called to complain they acted dumb and told me there's no way. If you travel up Commack road to Everything Bagel it's worth it. Everything Bagel charged me $6 for a bagel and Snapple. Bagel Chalet charged me $13. read more

I don't know why everyone raves about this bagel store. They are way overpriced and their bagels taste like a loaf of bread; way too airy and always hard. The wait to get an egg sandwich is about 15-20 minutes long and not worth the wait. Try The Everything Bagel on Commack Road. read more

One of the best bagel/delis in the E.Northport/Commack area, however I must say I like to get their tuna salads and it crazy expensive. I want to say a 1/2 pound is around $13? A little more reasonable prices would make this place 5 stars in my opinion. read more

I am from Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania- about 3.5 hours from Commack. I went here and was blown away. THE best bagelry I have ever come across! I now know all the fuss about New York bagels! I walked in there and was overwhelmed with all the menu choices and delicious-looking baked goods on display. I got the North Shore Old Fashioned bagel, which is Vox and scallion cream cheese, and IT WAS SO GOOD! I am considering moving to Commack just so I can go here everyday! Not only that, but the staff were very nice to me and my friends. It was very busy both times I visited there, but the line was fast moving. The staff were very attentive and took care of us well. They had rockin cantaloupe, I might add. Considering road tripping just to go here. Sinking Spring doesn't have bagelrys like this. read more

The greatest bagels I have ever had in my life, hands down. Slightly biased, of course, because I was raised a Commack kid. That being said, I've converted other Long Islanders into Bagel Chalet lovers as well. My friend from Nassau used to go out of his way to stop here after a bike ride. The bagels are always chewy, doughy, and delicious. Their other food is great as well. Line looks intimidating, but moves fast. I now live in Floral Park (parents are still in Commack), it it irritates me that I can't find a bagel as good as Bagel Chalet. Whenever I'm in town (which is frequently), I stop by. If I sleep at my parents' house, I'll even pop in at 5 am to grab a bagel before driving to Brooklyn for work, THAT'S how delicious they are. In college, I used to fly with a dozen Bagel Chalet bagels at the end of breaks when I had to return to Boston (zero issues shoving a bag of bagels through TSA security, in case you were wondering BTW). read more

I work in Hauppauge and stop in here fairly often on my lunch break when I need to get a few things at the Target next door. The line is always long but I skip it and grab one of the wraps that they have pre-made near the register. They appear and taste like they are made fresh daily and they come with a side salad that someone will go grab for you while you pay. I usually get the veggie wrap and cucumber salad. Today I tried something different and went with the grilled chicken and spinach wrap with macaroni salad. Wow! Very tasty. The chicken was cooked perfect; not like most delis where you get dry, chewy, tasteless chicken on your sandwich. The macaroni salad was good too; nice and vinegary and not overly sweet. Now I want to try the other wraps and side salads they have too! I'm only giving 4 stars because I have only tried the pre-made items since the line is just too long to waste my time on my lunch hour to order anything else. read more

Been patronizing this establishment for many years. Consistently the best bagels and bialys in an area saturated with bagel bakeries. These bagels are different then all the rest. They are quite lite and airy unlike most bagels which are heavy and dense, quality is always consistent. Service is fast and professional. In addition they sell high quality nova lox. At 38 bucks pound somewhat pricey but honestly worth it as its really high end. Other items are a bit pricey as well. Even though you pay alittle more then elsewhere you seem to be getting nice quality food items, After sampling many other bagels from around the area I keep returning to this place. And will continue to do so. Place is humming on weekend mornings so get there early! Highly recommended. read more

bagels are excellent, but they use to give a dozen bagels with some free bagels for around 10 dollars, then they gave a dozen bagels with 1 free for 12 dollars then they went to a dozen bagels with a small free cream cheese for 12 dollars now i go today and the dozen bagels jumped to 14 dollars. That increase will make me stop going there where does it end more than a dollar a bagel that is out of control. read more

I usually don't write a review, but wanted to let families know about my experience. Went in on Sunday morning, ordered food, sat down. No complaints about the service or food. The music being played was filled with profanity. My family was with me, and was displeased the entire time. As a fellow business owner, I was upset about how this conduct was allowed. Definitely not a family place in my opinion. How can you let this music like this be played in a public place with families? Common sense people goes along way read more
