Comfortable homey atmosphere. Great service. Family owned and operated. Great food. Only place we've been to serving soft shell crab Benedict for breakfast. Small crab but crunchy outside but still soft and mildly seasoned. Not a bacon person but honey/apple bacon was the best. Thick juicy sweet and a little touch of saltiness. Good flavor of corned beef and some crunchiness added texture and made it more enjoyable. Great first time breakfast family experience. Definitely a place for an early day tummy fill up.

I wasn't aware of this place but we stopped by last minute. The place was busy but didn't have to wait too long. The food was good and the staff friendly and attentive. Definitely a good choice. We enjoyed the restaurant and atmosphere. Plenty of parking around. Until next time. Chao!

Deep fried french toast

I can't say enough about this place, five star Service with five star Food, one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Marin! (you must try the deep fried french toast!)

We were heading to Petaluma and decided to have lunch at this place. It's a small cozy place but a friendly staff and the first thing I noticed here is the sign, no cell phone use. We ordered a salad, BLT sandwich, matcha green tea latte cold beverage. The service was great and quick. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was homely. You can see more senior citizens spending time indoors and youngsters sitting outdoors. They have a clean unisex restroom with a clear message about which lock to use and to be kind with flushing with their old plumbing mechanism. I really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it.

Regular bacon and overmedium eggs

Excellent place for breakfast or brunch! The Honeybee Bacon is a real awesome treat! Absolutely freshest squeezed orange juice! Great regular bacon too! Only place that did overmedium eggs correctly! Excellent ambiance, excellent food, excellent service!

Frittata perfecto!

We ate there again today. Staff always polite, excellent quality of food and served quickly. Very generous portions Outside seating awesome. I suggest ordering a frittata

Extensive breakfast menu with lunch options as well.

Bacon has been on my list to try for awhile. If I could give half stars it would be a 4.5. We finally got there today for a Saturday brunch. Place was hopping tho we were able to be seated outside right away. In warm weather the outdoor seats would be much in demand I am sure. Service was attentive and pleasant. We did wait awhile for our food but ultimately so worth it. And it was piping hot - even on an overcast slightly chilly day. The Bee Frittata was one of the best I have ever had - perfect portion size and the ingredients were so good - great hash browns too, French Toast was very good as well with fresh fruit. Bacon comes crispy and the pancakes were solid tho the French toast was my fave after the frittata. Latte and cappuccino were good as well. Overall it's a 4.5 for me - 5 if the food had come out quicker. We will try a weekday for sure when it is less busy.

3 eggs with bacon, which was being eyed by my little guy. They're very dog friendly.

Bacon is so awesome!! Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly. I love sitting in their outdoor patio, especially on a very hot day.

I chose the Lamb Papardelle, which was earthy and savory with gloriously wide noodles. My companions had the grilled salmon and rigatoni. Jessica, the adjacent Speakeasy restaurant manager, made my custom cake. It was amazing. She made a gluten-free, fluffy chocolate cake with fresh raspberries between the layers--slightly sweet and tangy. Soooo delicious. She added red roses to match the roses on the tables. And they honor your celebration of birthdays and anniversaries with an adorable (Scrabble) sign on your table. And those exciting candles...feel free to check out the lovely photos. What an absolutely delightful memory we made for my birthday. The service is always accessible, attentive, welcoming, and friendly. It's a cozy space, so be sure to make reservations. The ambience is so elegant--at any point, you expect a member of the Rat Pack or some performer to be dining there. They have excellent live piano music I believe on Fridays and Saturdays.

We ordered the truffle risotto and lobster bisque for the appetizers, and I thought they were both very hearty. Truffle flavor was there, and the risotto texture was great! For the entrees, we had to get the steaks. They were cooked medium-rare like we requested, and the meat was very tender. I would definitely want to come back to try a few things I've seen on their menu that weren't offered during the Valentine's Day special dinner service. Service was phenomenal and super friendly, even during the busy night. The live pianist and vibes added an extra touch to the atmosphere and made it a very pleasant dinner!

I ordered the carrot soup and my friend got the egg salad toast. My soup came in a really generous bowl, so generous that I actually had leftovers to take home. For dessert we shared the princess cake, which was definitely the highlight. The whipped cream layer was so light and airy and balanced perfectly with the cake. It wasn't overly sweet. Overall it was a really enjoyable lunch and we both agreed we'd definitely come back to try more things on the menu.

Two companions ordered and raved about their burger. Everyone loved the crispy-on-the-outside and tender-on-the-inside fries. They were gracious to create a special order for me: 2 eggs scrambled with spinach, diced tomatoes, and chorizo; iceberg lettuce, plantains, and homemade hollandaise. Since l adore extremely lemony hollandaise, I asked for lemon wedges; they brought 3 and I could have used even more. (I really like it lemony!) Our server was fun, sweet, competent, and friendly. There are so many wonderful options on the menu--breakfast all day including omelets, waffles, and pancakes. Thursdays are for special pricing for pupusas I can't wait to try. The ambience is adorable. It's a Western theme. Our server wore a fringe vest. There are adorable stools (see photo!) that are actually as comfortable as they are cute. There are two big screen TVs that had lovely spring scenes that made me pause, smile, and soak it in. There's a rack of Western hats--perhaps for little buckaroos to wear when seated on the horse getting their photo taken. There's a huge white throne bench for photos, too. Super fun. I'll be back!

This Star Restaurant deserves at least seven stars!…read more My son and I just came back from a two-week vacation in Spain and the first craving we had was for Latin American food. How lucky were we to discover that Star Restaurant was just around the corner. First of all, I used to remember it long ago as an American diner. What is surprising is that it still is (serving breakfast all day, along with favorite American food like burgers and baby back ribs) but in addition, there is a delicious selection of Guatemalan dishes. My son had the Bistek (with all the fixings: salad, rice & beans) and I opted for a huge moist flavorful chicken tamale appetizer with my "Mojarra Frita" which turned out to be one whole (head to tail) fried tilapia that also included rice, beans, salad and handmade (thick but fluffy) corn tortillas. How do I begin to describe every item on my plate?! I can't. I only know that I will go back and try their whole menu dish by dish, if it takes a lifetime. Every biteful was mouthwatering and completely satisfying. Definitely try a glass of horchata (made with rice, water & milk) with your meal! It's sweetly delicious and soothes the stomach when you've eaten too much! I should know. I can't say enough good things about Star Restaurant. (Okay, I'll try!) Their customer service is excellent. (If you ask them to omit the cilantro & onions, they remember.) The staff are there to make sure your experience is unforgettably positive. There are more reasons to try Star. White tablecloths on each table! What casual diner has white tablecloths at dinnertime?! Star does. Their menu is extensive but nothing about it screams fast food. The western decor is cute and friendly. The restroom facilities are clean. (There must be a word limit but here I am still typing!) All that aside, the main reason to try Star Restaurant (again and again) is the food. I'm talking about Latin soul food made by a family who cares about quality and attention to details. Cooked with love by their family to our families. Muchas gracias, Star Restaurant! We will be back with more family and friends (so that we can try the rest of the menu)!

We were just looking to…read morehave kind of hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail and just hang out together, because we found ourselves with a rare four-hour window where the kids were occupied and we could just do whatever we wanted. This was a nice way to spend a few hours. The space is neat. It's as small, somewhat dark ambiance with the windows blacked out. So, you do loose your sense of time a bit inside. That's actually nice as it feels like you went somewhere/somewhen else for a while. We had a Manhattan and a Kentucky Mule, and, additionally, we had three different shareable appetizers. First thought, we ordered and devoured a really exceptional cheese plate. I know cheese plates seem a little meh sometimes, but this was really good! I would absolutely order it again. In fact, I would definitely go there just to have the cheese plate again with a drink, a glass of wine. We also had the three tacos shareable. There were three tacos that were stunningly good. Lastly a dish with some little steak medallions and a shrimp. Each of these was about two bites and the flavor and texture was excellent. All three of the shareables and the drinks were exceptional. I have to call out that, with the cheese board, came a little loaf of bread. That bread was really good all on its own. I would definitely want to eat it. I can still taste it. It was really good, but my wife, she's gluten intolerant. They offered, because she couldn't eat the bread, they offered to also bring her out some gluten-free crackers, so she got to enjoy the cheese board just the same without the bread. They gave her the crackers, and do you know, they just gave her those extra. They didn't ask for something more. They didn't do anything. They just took care of her. I really appreciate that. I have to also give a shout out to the Jessica. I don't know how she did it, but she was taking care of the whole room of tables I think. Nice. We ordred all three shareables at the same time and she thoughtfully said, 'do you mind if I course these out for you?' We said yes and she did. I don't think anybody felt like they didn't have everything they needed, so a shout out to you, Jessica, really well done. We're grateful for the service and the high quality dining experience that you gave us on a moment's notice. I hope we can visit again soon. And, especially we want to check out The Boardroom soon. NOTE: This is in a kind of older looking strip mall. Don't be concerned about that at all! It threw us off a little at first and we did wonder when we pulled in though if we were in the right place. Happily, we were!

Attached to The Boardroom restaurant, The Speakeasy is a real find featuring a wonderfully robust appetizer menu, a full bar, and a daily happy hour menu that applies mostly to alcohol purchases. If you're looking for wine here, the bar offers a variety, with the house wines - excellently priced at $8-$9/glass - comprised fully of Rutherford grown grapes. Somebody here knows what's up. A friend who'd talked up The Speakeasy for years is besotted by the Marsala Sautéed Chicken Livers ($11) on the bar menu. Not ever a fan of liver, I avoided sampling his until we'd collectively polished off an order of Baked Goat Cheese ($10) and a trio of Pulled Pork Tacos ($13). He'd grown full and much liver remained which is when I learned that I do like chicken liver. Or rather, I like chicken liver as prepared at The Speakeasy. All of the above pretty much had me fan-girling out over this place but then this happened: We were done, requested our check, and were told that someone that evening had picked up the tab for the entire bar, something I've not experienced in my lifetime. I already liked The Speakeasy a whole lot before learning my food and drink were free of charge. Like changed to rabid fandom when this occurred. I know that I can't expect a full repeat of this experience but even if it's just chicken livers and Cabernet, that'll be enough.
