I contacted him in advance and asked if he could come Saturday or Monday to get the water properly treated and balanced. He told me he couldn't come until Thursday. Since I didn't want a newly filled pool sitting that long without being properly treated, I told him I understood and that we would find another pool maintenance company that could come sooner. I then asked him to refund the unused portion of the $150 monthly service fee, since he had only performed one service that month. Instead of simply discussing the cancellation and refund professionally, the conversation became extremely hostile. He told me, "You pay thousands of dollars for a remodel, yet you won't pay me $200?" and eventually called me a "low-life" and said he "could wipe my ass with that money." I understand that there can be disagreements about charges, and I had no problem paying another company for the chemicals and startup service. My issue was the way I was spoken to simply because I chose to discontinue the service and requested the unused balance back. Unfortunately, after the way this situation was handled and the personal insults I received, I would not use this company again. Update after the owner's response: His response unfortunately reinforces the reason I decided to change companies. I did not cancel because I was looking for free service or because I did not want to pay for chemicals. My new pool company charges me $159/month, which is actually more than the $150/month I was paying him. They also charge separately for the freshwater startup chemicals, which I agreed to pay. I have no issue paying for services or chemicals. I changed companies because I was unhappy with the service and, most importantly, the way I was being communicated with. Even after I ended the service, the owner continued calling me "low-class" publicly in his response to this review. I think his own messages and response speak for themselves.

The pool smart team gave me practical advice on how to do the repair economically, and was even cool with me shopping for parts online. No upsell or up charge pressure at all! It turned out to be a really complicated replacement, due to a lot of difficult job site conditions that weren't expected at the beginning of the job. The pool smart team completed the repair the same day, and everything is working perfectly. Solid choice. Look no further!

This triggered another $500 bill to install a blower. Verbal reassurance from Johnny the technician and texts/emails from Trinity in customer service that the pump was covered by a two-year warranty from PoolSmart. I requested a copy of the warranty multiple times, Trinity always said she would send it but never did. Almost immediately the pump wasn't functioning correctly, and PoolSmart canceled appointments, then quoted over $1000 for additional repairs. Within a few months, the entire pump blew out, and when I contacted them to honor the warranty, no answer. Crickets. If you want a good pool repair company, contact Purpose Pools, they came in after these jokers and repaired everything right away for a fraction of the price. Avoid PoolSmart at all costs!

I called them back on July 27, but they didn't return until August 4. Instead of standing behind their work, they claimed the repair was outside their 30-day warranty, even though it was the exact same capacitor they had installed. Because of that, I had to pay my American Home Shield service fee again. That's $100 on the first visit and another $100 on the second visit--all because the part they installed failed. I'm now out $200, have wasted weeks waiting for repairs, and my pool has turned green because it couldn't run properly. American Home Shield should seriously reconsider using this company as one of its service providers. A reputable contractor should stand behind the parts they install, especially when the same part fails so quickly. Based on my experience, I would not recommend JNJ Pools to anyone. The low rating they have is consistent with the service I received. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration, and choose a different company. Mine to Matt came here and tried to tell me that my capacitor went out because it's hot outside.
