[[HIGHLIGHT]]If I could rate Backyard's ambiance and commitment to the FIFA/sports experience 100000/10, I absolutely would. The concept is so well done, it feels like you're sitting in a lush outdoor backyard patio, but you're actually inside a massive, air-conditioned space with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, panoramic views, and TVs in every direction. The energy during a game is unmatched, and it's easily one of the coolest sports bars I've been to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was great too. We ordered the Buffalo Grilled Chicken Pizza along with a few beers, and everything hit the spot. They also offer beer pitchers, which is perfect if you're coming with a larger group. That said, the prices were definitely on the higher side, and the service was painfully slow. We waited almost 45 minutes for our pizza, which took away from the overall experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For the vibes alone, I'd come back in a heartbeat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But between the steep prices and slow service, I can't give it more than 3/5 stars. If they improve those two things, this place would be an easy favorite.

Came here to catch the USA/Bosnia match. Our first experience here back when they first opened wasn't great because the food wasn't up to par, but after hearing they had a new menu, we decided to give them a second chance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe was great and our server was wonderful, but the management practices here are incredibly dishonest and frustrating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the bill came, I realized my beers were marked up $2 each over the menu price. When I questioned it, I was told there was a surcharge for the game. The staff claimed there was a sign at the door and that guests were being verbally warned. None of this happened. The line to get in was so long you couldn't see the host stand, our server never warned us, and the friends who arrived before us never heard a word about it either. Funnily enough, I was the only person at our table who actually got charged this fee. When I brought the manager over to sort it out, she didn't seem to care. She first blamed a "system glitch," then pivoted to arguing that it was a "bigger game" so a surcharge applied. Then, in a complete shift of logic, she tried to claim that they had actually undercharged me for my potato skins, so I was "already getting a discount." It was an insulting attempt to brush me off, and they just took a random $3 off the bill to get me to go away. When we actually checked the front entrance for this "sign" on our way out, it was written in barely legible red chalk on a blackboard, stating only that there may be a surcharge--with absolutely no details on how much or on what items. We actually had tables already reserved to return here this coming Monday, but we will be cancelling them immediately. Instead of doing the right thing and fixing their mistake, the manager doubled down and argued with me. It's not about the money; it's about the principle. They blew their second chance with us. Sneaking random upcharges onto the bill and then fighting a returning customer about it is terrible business. I can't even imagine how much they are making off these secret charges! Won't be back.

We were so excited when Backyard opened in Desert Ridge because this area really needs a casual, family friendly sports bar. It has such great potential with the huge TVs everywhere, lots of seating, and space for kids to wiggle. Unfortunately our experiences have been consistently disappointing. The biggest issue has always been the service. Almost every visit has involved very slow service and long waits. A few times we watched the hostess stand with multiple open tables available while people waited with no explanation as to why no one was being seated. At first we gave them grace because they were newly opened and figured they just needed time to work out the kinks, but years later it honestly has not improved much. They have updated and expanded the menu over time, which was definitely needed because the original menu lacked variety for this type of restaurant. My kids do enjoy the pizza, so that has been one positive for us. Unfortunately the food has been hit or miss for us. We ordered the Backyard nachos without meat on one visit. They use more of a liquid nacho cheese instead of melted shredded cheese. Shortly after eating them I became extremely sick and had to leave before my entree came. I assumed it was just a random stomach bug. Then months later my husband ordered the exact same nachos, again without meat, and about 20 minutes later became very nauseous and got sick at the restaurant. Nobody else in either group got sick, but after two separate incidents tied to the same dish it definitely left us uncomfortable ordering certain foods there. I do not eat meat, so I have wondered if there is some sort of animal fat or ingredient in the cheese or preparation that did not sit well with me. Another frustrating experience involved drink charges. A friend ordered a vodka with grapefruit juice and was charged not only for the cocktail but also an additional $3 just for the grapefruit juice. Our group thought that was excessive. We have also heard similar complaints from other friends about unexpected extra charges appearing on bills with drinks. It's a bummer because Backyard could be such a great spot. The atmosphere is fun, the kids enjoy it, and there honestly aren't many places with better TVs for watching sports. We just wish the service and food experiences matched the potential of the place.

Came by on a Tuesday with a decent sized group. Had some tables reserved so seating wasn't an issue. Started ordering as soon as we sat down. Menus were straightforward. Started with the huge sample platter, multiple wing varieties, sticky ribs, tater skins, and numerous pizza pies. Orders came out pretty quick and were decently done. Typical bar food. Sticky ribs and wings were the crowd favorites. The Brookie dessert was how we closed out our meal. Wasn't bad. Host kept things lively as there were trivia and bingo games with nice prizes. Our waitress came by every so often to check on us and kept our drinks full. Not a bad choice if you needed to quick place for a large group.

So, the review is for the mismanagement and miscommunication on their end and for keeping me waiting for a response on the critical day when the USA is playing a Round of 32 game. When I called them yesterday (June 30), the person who called herself a host didn't share a single detail about the minimum spend inside or outside, and all of a sudden, just to get a table, they introduced new rates ($400 for inside and $250 for outside). When I called the restaurant today (July 1) at 11:55 AM, the person speaking with me confirmed that she would text or call me within an hour to let me know whether the reservation was confirmed. Since they did not communicate with me, I called again at 2:29 PM. After spending 13 minutes on the call, the manager (?) told me that I had to pay for the table. Their unethical behavior and unprofessional service led to me missing reservations at other places that were not charging any upfront money, while I stayed committed to watching the US game. I am definitely never going to this place, and I will also let my coworkers know about this experience.

Came in after doing the Sip and Stroll at Desert Ridge. This place is HUGE with tons of seating options. We grabbed a shaded spot on the patio. Spa Water - Tito's, cucumber, lime, simple, soda water Hubby loved it. I didn't try it because I'm not a cucumber person. Tee Time - Crown Royal Peach, lemon, simple, unsweetened tea I'm a sweet-tea kinda gal, but this was actually pretty nice. The lemon and peach make it feel summery, even though it's November in Phoenix. Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot - Fireball + RumChata These should be illegal. They are SO good. Poolside Punch - chili mango rum, triple sec, OJ, lime, simple Tropical and tasty, but we make almost the exact same drink at home. Spinach & Artichoke Dip - Do. Not. Order. Super runny, basically tastes like warm milk with a little shaky parmesan. The baked flatbread is good on its own but terrible as a dipping option--it just turns soggy and falls apart. You can't get any actual dip on it without it sliding right off. Really disappointing start, especially because this came out way before our drinks (which we ordered at the same time). The manager offered a substitution, so we swapped it for the pretzel. Bavarian Pretzel Over-the-top presentation that didn't match the actual quality. Pretzel itself was good--nice salt, good bake. But the dipping sauces were a letdown. Queso was basic food-service, and the honey mustard, while tasty, is absolutely not the right mustard for a pretzel. Give me a spicy whole-grain mustard and we'd be talking. As-is... meh. By the time our second round of drinks took nearly 20 minutes to arrive, we decided to skip ordering any entrées. Overall: Fantastic service, decent drinks, but the food was a major disappointment. With so many better options nearby, we probably won't be back.

A great sports bar if you're in the search for one! As soon as I walked in, I was amazed by the huge tv screens and character of this sports bar. On the right side, there's an old-fashioned car and vibrant, image-plastered walls. They also had a live DJ in the back who played bangers during commercial breaks. There's lots of natural lighting from huge garage-looking doors, which I heard they open for a nice cool-down during evenings. It was super busy and lively when we arrived. Tiana was our server and was very nice and attentive. They have a very extensive drink and food menu. The espresso martini was one of my favorite espresso martini's I've ordered! Very sweet tho (to my liking). I got the backyard burger, which was okay. I was hoping it was a little more spicy, even though it did have a grilled jalapeño. My partner got the chicken sandwich, and while it was good, he also thought that the honey mustard sauce was interesting and was willing to try something else on the menu when we return. My partner's brother got the Hawaiian pizza, which he liked. It was a decent serving for the price. I think it's decently priced/on par with other restaurants in the area. I do like that they give you a pretty decent serving of crispy, crinkle-cut fries! They were delicious.

Stopped in this afternoon w best friend, "Need a bib" and my niece, her husband, and their youngest son. Pet friendly, and lots of furry four-legged pups frolicking. Happy hour, at least during weekdays, is from 3 to 6. Certain drinks and appys reduced. A cool vibe. With numerous big screen TVs, some of which are GINORMOUS! Three of us ordered shaved steak sandwiches, one a wedge salad w chicken, and one a sausage/ pepperoni pizza. Service was exceptional. Madison was attentive, efficient, and friendly. I polled everyone. The consensus was the ambiance and service rated a 5. But to us, the food was just ok. The cheese on the steak sandwiches seemed (and tasted) like melted Cheese Whiz. For $19, the Back Yard needs to up its game. A bit noisy and not the kind of place to bring a date. Good hangout for friends after work for a few drinks and some apps. In general, prices a bit higher than what I'm used to. Last, my friend, NAB... could not determine the sources of the multiple stains on his shirt. Take your pick among salad dressing, cheese whiz, steak drippings. Maybe all the sbove. 4 stars

This was my second time here. My first visit was shortly after they opened, and the food and service were bad enough that I didn't come back for years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With the World Cup on, we decided to give it another shot because we wanted to watch the USA game on the big screens, and the Backyard does deliver that !![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was packed--standing room only--which wasn't an issue at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then I went to the bar and ordered two Tito's and sodas. $38. For two single Tito's and sodas. At first I thought there had to be a mistake. Nope. Just two drinks served in plastic cups with plastic straws. No handcrafted cocktail. No top-shelf bourbon. No fancy presentation. Just Tito's and soda (out of the gun). If I'm paying almost $20 for a single vodka soda, I expect to at least wonder where the other $15 went. I understand businesses have to make money, but there's a difference between charging a premium and taking advantage of customers because the place is packed for a major sporting event. They obviously won't miss my business--the place was overflowing--but on principle alone, I won't be back. There are plenty of other places to watch sports that don't charge steakhouse prices for a vodka soda. read more

We were looking for a fun place to have lunch on Saturday afternoon and decided to give Backyard a try as it looked like it had a fun vibe. We were not disappointed. This space is huge and is set up like a backyard in many ways. The chairs were comfortable, the music pumping with a live DJ, and the fresh air coming in through the giant garage doors was wonderful. Our server, Valerie (I think?), was great. She was very friendly and chatted with us a bit about food and cocktail selections. I got the pulled pork Mac and my friend got the margherita Pizza. I also got a smoky bourbon cocktail and she got an espresso martini. Our drinks and food arrived quickly and all of it was fantastic. We'll definitely stop again. We're wanting to check out some of their nightly events like trivia night. read more

My initial visit to Backyard was marked by a warm greeting from my server, Madison, very nice and attentive. The restaurant's atmosphere is lively, with numerous TVs and ample seating to accommodate groups of various sizes. As a dog-friendly establishment, I appreciated the option to bring my canine companion. The outdoor area, where pets can hang out is cute. The dog area is not covered so keep that in mind. The food was good. The cleanliness and overall ambiance make it a great spot to meet with friends. With multiple large-screen TVs, it's also great for watching sports. I did not have to wait for a table, and the food arrived quickly. The have great happy hour prices for drinks. The convenient location and ample parking make it easily accessible. read more

The vibe here is fun -- lots of sports on TV, families around, and it feels like a great place to bring friends for a good social time. That said, the bar service was disappointing during my visit. A group of off-duty employees and their friends seemed to be the main focus of the bartenders' attention, and it felt like the rest of the bar came second. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu because I was planning to order food too, but no one came back to check on me until after I had already finished my drink. By then, I was ready to get my check and leave. Came to watch the World Cup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere but hated the fact the second bar closed while the main was too packed to sit at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Me and my friends had to order at the main and take them across the bar which was really inconvenient given that the place was extremely packed and busy. Visited backyard on a Saturday morning for brunch. Honestly the ambiance is just fantastic. Live music, games, tons of tv to watch sports etc, a few cutely designed spots to take pictures. Very good service from Lex. And when it comes to food, we ordered a French toast, veggie omelette and margherita pizza. Pizza was the best followed by omelette. French toast was a bit disappointing. It was slightly burnt and some fresh fruit would have helped it. Overall a great place to hangout with friends and family. Bonus it's in desert ridge market place so can also cover few other places during the visit :) read more

This is a big, loud bright place, with standard bar fare. Our table had chicken wings, nachos, crinkle fries and a salad. All the food was okay, but not great. The wings were well-cooked and juicy, just didn't love the "hot" flavor. Also, the fries were the breaded kind, not my favorite. The portions were decent for happy hours appetizers, and the price decent. Our server disappeared for a long time, not sure why. read more

There were 7 of us for lunch. The table was dirty. Old dirt - not 'they forgot to wipe it down' dirt.I could scrape off the grime with my fingernail. There were crusty old ketchup stains on the table. The server brought a sandwich and we asked which sandwich. She did not know. The service was slow. The bills came back with the wrong cc. The place is filled with big screens everywhere you look, making it perfect for watching any game. The vibe is lively, fun, and super welcoming. They hosted our girls' soccer team along with all the parents, a group of 40+ and handled it incredibly well. Our waitress, Tiana, was amazing! She was super friendly, patient, and on top of everything. She took everyone's drink and food order without missing a beat, and we truly appreciated her hard work. Went to the Backyard twice in one week. I had gone about the same time 5-6 PM both times. Two different waitresses, same experience. They were both excellent, very nice, conscientious and were excellent at their jobs. We felt welcomed and our drinks were kept full. We were checked on frequently and always with a smile and willingness to keep us happy. Who's ever doing the hiring , I want to commend. These were our first times there but definitely not our last. Located in the heart of desert ridge mall. This place is huge. I was blown away when I walked in looking at the huge screens at the center of the restaurant. Office party, family time, friends hanging out or just getting a drink, this place has it all covered. We had our office party and about 20 of us, but had to be split since the seating was a booth and all could not fit in. The place is new and our waiter was young who was having difficulties remembering the drinks and the orders were getting messed up. She was sweet and very nice, so brownie points for that. We ordered lot of cocktails and I loved the camp which was tequila based and had a slight spice to it. For food, we had nachos, tacos, wings, pizza, quesadillas, fries and more. We loved the margarita pizza, the nachos were loaded with cheese which was alright. Overall the food is very standard and bar kind. The drinks decent and the service still needs to be worked on. Very disappointed with the service. While we were watching the World Cup, the servers repeatedly checked on and talked with the tables around us but kept skipping our table entirely. We had to wait far too long for attention, and no one came by to see if we needed anything or if our food and drinks were okay. It felt like we were being ignored the entire time. We came here to watch some games, as they probably have 50 tvs in this one large space. It was ideal to catch multiple games at the same time. That being said it was quite loud, and the ambiance was exactly as its name implies -- it is very much like a backyard. This beer-focused bar isn't the easiest to find because it's underground down a stairwell. Look for the signage close to the stairwell. Ambiance (3.5/5): We sat at a booth at the bar. It's one of the few seats that have back support (which is important to me due to my old man back). Outside of that, it's all barstool seating with no back support inside. Outside, they have a small patio with chairs. That would be another option for me when the weather cooperates. The decor inside is your typical beer bar decor. Laid back. Comfortable. There's a jukebox. A cool place to grab some brews. Service (3.5/5): Two bartenders were working that evening and they were pretty solid. I did have to grab their attention a few times but no biggie. The Whining Pig has daily specials including a beer and grilled cheese combo on Wednesdays. I was curious on the price. They didn't know nor did they find out. That was a miss. Food (N/A): No food for me on this visit as I had dinner prior. They have a small menu, mostly made up of various grilled cheese sandwiches. They have a classic one, a pizza one, and a few others. I'm a dan of grilled cheese so I'll definitely try one out at some point. They also have charcuterie boards. Drinks (4.5/5): Now for the good stuff! Unlike most beer spots, they also have wine and several cocktails. But when in Rome, so I went with a beer flight. You can choose five beers of your choosing from a list of 40 beers or so. While they don't brew their own beer, they have an interesting selection of local craft beers and European ones. The types of beers you're not going to find at your neighborhood bar, including saisons and sours. The flight is served in a pig shape holder which was pretty funny. Flights are always my go-to when they're offered as they allow you to try out a nice variety. Added bonus: Walk down the hallway past the bathrooms and you'll run into Pigtails---a speakeasy owned by the same folks. That way, you can get both your brews and elevated cocktails fix in the same night.

Food wise they have a charcuterie board, grilled cheese sandwiches& potato chips. Menu items from Pigtails are also available at the bar. There is a big bar top area and other indoor table seating, patio is shady during the day. I'd recommend this spot if you're out shopping and need a break or if you just want a cool bar to hang out at. If you like ciders the Black Widow -Original Sin cider is very delicious.

Also I got the AZ frosè and the rosemary syrup was just way too pungent to enjoy the whole beverage. I wished it had been more balanced. Especially when the French fries are heavily seasoned with rosemary--a bit too much.

We were surprised to see the restaurant had the front door propped completely open letting the hot air into the restaurant. Since this is a small restaurant you really couldn't escape the heat. The heat unfortunately caused us to leave after a short while.

Watch out for fees: They auto-added a 1.5% credit card surcharge without informing us upfront. It's frustrating for a larger, modern venue to pass off merchant fees like that. Check your bill carefully!

From the moment my friends and I entered this establishment, we were greeted not with hospitality, but with a palpable sense of disdain and hostility. Our group, comprised entirely of respectful patrons over the age of 18, was subjected to a profoundly unprofessional and frankly humiliating display of condescension and antagonism -- all, it seems, due to the simple fact that none of us were ordering alcohol. Our server, whose demeanor oscillated between apathetic and openly combative, made her disdain immediately known. After only a few of us had placed our food orders, she returned and -- with the grace of a DMV clerk on her worst day -- sharply inquired whether the rest of us planned to order, her tone dripping with contempt. It was not a question of curiosity, but of interrogation, as if our very presence in her section was an inconvenience to her evening. Her relentless pestering continued with unwarranted frequency and increasing hostility. Before we could so much as take a sip of water or enjoy a conversation, we were approached by a manager who might have moonlighted as a failed stand-up comedian. With an unmistakable air of sarcasm, he declared, "We are a for-profit company," as if we were naïve children in need of a capitalism lesson -- all because we had not collectively ordered a feast worthy of royalty. His tone made it abundantly clear that our party was not welcome unless we intended to fund his quarterly bonus. If the experience had ended there, perhaps I could chalk it up to a bad night. But unfortunately, the indignity only escalated. Not long after, the same manager returned with a newfound accusation: we were told that anyone under 18 must leave. We politely informed him -- with the documentation to prove it -- that we were all, in fact, of legal adult age. His response? A dismissive "Oh," followed by an unceremonious retreat, as though our very presence disgusted him. Moments later, the server reemerged, this time with a new fabricated policy: we, as individuals under the age of 21, would have to vacate the premises by 8 PM. Strangely, every publicly available resource -- including their own website -- stated that this supposed age restriction only takes effect after 10 PM. When confronted with this contradiction, the manager once again returned, this time abandoning all pretense of professionalism. He blatantly admitted that the rules were being invented on the spot at the behest of his superior, who allegedly declared he "wouldn't wanna see people like this." Let me be perfectly clear: this was not merely an uncomfortable dining experience -- it was a grotesque display of ageism, classism, and unjustified elitism. We were not intoxicated, unruly, or disruptive. We were a group of young adults trying to enjoy a modest meal and conversation, and were instead treated as an unwanted burden to be removed. In my many years of dining out, I have never encountered such deliberate alienation and outright fabrication of policy to ostracize a paying table. This establishment has not only lost our business but has secured a place in my memory as one of the most flagrantly inhospitable venues I have ever stepped foot in. Verdict: Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy being lied to, talked down to, and asked to leave simply for existing. read more

The Backyard Restaurant was a complete disaster from start to finish. I genuinely don't understand the hype -- unless you're into overpriced food, nonexistent service, and a chaotic atmosphere. We waited 45 minutes for a table, even though several were visibly empty. When we were finally seated, no one came by for another 20 minutes. No water, no greeting, nothing. We had to flag someone down just to get basic service, and when the food finally arrived, it was borderline inedible. The burger I ordered was dry and flavorless, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The bun was stale, the toppings were sparse, and the "house sauce" tasted like watered-down ketchup. My friend's chicken sandwich was somehow both greasy and rubbery -- a real feat. The ambiance was equally awful. Loud, disorganized, and dirty. Sticky tables, chipped paint, and a weird mildew smell in the air. Honestly, the whole place felt like it was being run by people who had given up. To make matters worse, our server disappeared entirely after dropping off our food -- no check-in, no refills, and when we finally asked for the bill, it took another 15 minutes just to get that. Save yourself the time and frustration. The Backyard is one of the most poorly run restaurants I've ever been to. I won't be back, and I'd actively warn people to avoid it. read more

Our experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing. From the start, we were met with confusion and dishonesty. We placed our food order, only to be told afterward that we needed to order -- as if our previous order had vanished into thin air. Then came the constant backpedaling and rule-changing. First, we were told we had to be over 18 to stay, which we all were. Minutes later, that magically changed to "you need to be 21 after 8 PM," which is a flat-out lie. Every official policy we found online clearly states that under-21 guests simply need to leave by 10 PM, not 8. The staff clearly didn't want us there and were just throwing out excuses to get us to leave. To make matters worse, one particular waitress -- with reddish-brown hair and visible tattoos on her arm -- was incredibly rude and harassing. Her tone was condescending and aggressive, and she treated us with zero respect, as if we were a nuisance rather than paying customers. There was no reason for that kind of attitude, especially when we had done absolutely nothing wrong. The unprofessionalism, lies, and outright hostility from this place were shocking. If you're looking for a welcoming, honest, and respectful dining experience, this is not the place. I strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I used to come here a couple years ago when it was Sandbar and I was happy to see that they decided to reimagine the restaurant. I think this place has a great vibe for desert ridge, surrounded in garage doors to make it feel like you're actually in a backyard. And the fact that they are extremely dog friendly just adds to the "backyard" vibe. TVs EVERYWHERE! They show all the games and have view of at least 5 tvs wherever you sit. The food is MUCH better than it was at Sandbar. They got a new head chef, Chef Tony, and he really knows what he's doing in the kitchen. I had the BBQ sandwich, the meat was really tender, and the BBQ sauce tasted homemade and very good. Also get the chicken tenders and the waffle fries. Drinks were very good too and the best part was the service of the bartenders. Even the barback takes the time to make sure you're okay. 10/10 happy with the new addition to Desert Ridge. read more

A complete loser. Arrived on Friday at 12:45 pm for lunch. Was told by hostess it was a 30 minute wait for a table when in fact I counted over 22 available tables. Since we live in the area and eat out a fair amount we decided instead of leaving which would have been the intelligent choice we sat at the bar. Another mistake. The bartender was not particularly nice and just wanted our credit card for the check run up. We ordered a couple beers and looked to order some food. This is where the decision was made by us to NEVER go here again and to tell our friends to not waste their money. French fries for $9.00, $17.00 for a simple burger, $16.00 for chicken wings for food quality was adequate at best. If you want to pay 28% more than their competitors then do it. Gets a D rating and that is generous. read more

I recently visited Backyard and had an amazing experience that I just had to share. The manager went above and beyond to make my father-in-law's birthday celebration special by surprising him with free tacos and an extra birthday discount. It was such a thoughtful gesture that truly made his day. The food at Backyard was outstanding. The wings were flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. The drinks were also top-notch and the vibe of the restaurant was just perfect for a casual and enjoyable meal. I can't wait to come back to Backyard and experience their amazing hospitality and fantastic food again. Thank you to the manager and staff for making our visit so memorable. My favorite new hangout spot in the area! The food is delicious for being "bar food", the service has always been great & I really enjoy the live music they have. I bring my dog here since they're dog friendly and he loves it too! They have a really good happy hour from 3-6 during the week and that's typically when I go, but I'd say the prices are fair even when things are full price for the portions you get! I ordered their new Asian chicken salad most recently and it was big enough I had left overs, it seemed very fresh. Highly recommend you try this spot out whether it's just for a quick lunch or to celebrate a special occasion! read more

I will never be returning to this restaurant after witnessing appalling treatment of my Black friend during our visit. It was clear they were being singled out and treated with disrespect solely because of the color of their skin. No one should have to experience that, especially not in a place that claims to welcome all customers. Restaurants that condone or tolerate racist behavior have no place in our community. I hope they take a long, hard look at their staff training and values. Until real change happens, I will be telling everyone I know to stay far away. Unacceptable! read more

I came to backyard desert ridge to celebrate my birthday with some friends. We had the lovely Olivia as our server. She attended to our every need promptly and with a smile. Olivia had the best attitude and really was the face of the restaurant. She was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and was able to give us some amazing recommendations for food and drinks. I visited Backyard for brunch on a Saturday morning and loved the ambiance. There's live music, games, and plenty of TVs for sports, plus some nice photo spots. Lex provided great service. We ordered French toast, a veggie omelette, and margherita pizza. The pizza was the standout, followed by the omelette. The French toast was slightly burnt and could have used some fresh fruit. Tiana was our server at Bayyard and honestly I'm convinced she runs that place like an air traffic controller with espresso in her veins. She kept the drinks full, the food flying out, and somehow still had time to roast us for taking 20 minutes to decide on appetizers. 10/10 service, great personality, and somehow made us feel like regulars on the first visit.
