While I'm not sure Desert Ridge needs another casual restaurant this one does stand out from the crowd of chains in the area. The interior is very large and open with garage doors on three sides. There are 2 bars, one on each end. A nice outdoor area. Some games, fun for the kids and adults. The furniture is right out of my parents' patio in the 50's but the seats are padded (my butt thanks you). Service was spot-on. I ordered the backyard burger and my spouse got a flatbread. The burger came with fries that were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The burger and the flatbread were both very good. The price was about as expected. Around $40 for out meals/soft drinks plus tip. We'll be back. read more

We ate dinner at the Backyard on 4/10. This was our first visit to the new restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. The setup is similar to sitting outdoors with picnic tables, patio-style chairs, and artificial grass. The service was good (No real WOW), and the food was served promptly. The food wasn't served hot which was a disappointment however we didn't bring it to anyone's attention. The entertainment was hard to hear over customers talking, no one seemed to be listening to the singer. We would probably return and give them a second chance. read more

Been waiting over a year for the "Dog" Patio to "finalize finishing touches" so we can bring our dog but everytime I call I'm given conflicting information. Yelp says dog friendly but social accounts say it's still in the works. I called tonight and the host said yes the patio is open but we don't have any servers out there. The ambiance of this place is the only reason for the higher rating. I think Backyard would be good for games and drinks, but the food is really, really terrible. Literally no one at the table finished their meal and it was t because of a lack of appetite . They have some monster TVs, which look like they were plucked right out of the Coyote's defunct arena. I've been here twice before and had a good experience. Tonight it was awful. The waitress was less than attentive, had tables across the restaurant and hardly checked in. We ordered potato skins as an appetizer. They came out cold and soggy. It was like they had been sitting in the fridge all day and were pulled out to sit under the heating lamp for a minute before they were served. They were understanding and took them back. We ordered dinner and while the burger came out wonderful and warm, the fries were soggy and cold. I wasn't going to say anything but ended up stopping one of the food runners and the look on his face when he looked at the sad soggy fries on the plate was pretty priceless. I got new fries and they were wonderful. Maybe just an off day for the kitchen, I don't know. But for the price of the food the portions are small and the quality is mediocre. read more

Terrible Experience - Unprofessional and Rude Security Guard I will never spend another dollar at this establishment. The blonde security guard with a man bun was rude, power-hungry, and far from professional. I understand the need to enforce rules, but his condescending attitude reflects poorly on the business. After a long day, I wanted to take my family out for appetizers and drinks. As we approached the door, we were told it was a 21+ venue, which was surprising considering there were clearly children playing in the arcade. While I questioned the inconsistency, we accepted the explanation and began walking away. Out of nowhere, the security guard started yelling at my son without provocation telling him to live and learn. When I confronted him about yelling at us, he said it was his right to yell at who he wants to as he is a "bouncer". In the meantime, he let a group of girls go in without identification. If you value respect and professionalism, I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. BJ's is right around the corner and far more deserving of your hard-earned money. read more

The only issue we had was the volume, the tvs were SO LOUD, so loud we could not even hear the person sitting across the table from us. It was so loud! He was the one that denied my request from the server and myself. He was the one that said they "had to" show the UFC fight because of a contract. And, HE was the one that assured me he would put the Oregon game on the big screen as soon as the fight was over. they left they game on a small screen close to us (that had sun glare) but then removed the game before it was over to play the Texas game. We were visiting from out of town and were looking for a place to watch the Monday night football games and boy was this a great choice. TV's everywhere! And even some of the largest screens I have ever seen outside of an actual stadium. The selection of beverages (adult and otherwise) was great and the menu looked absolutely delicious. We were greeted right away, seated right away, and didn't wait more than 30 seconds before the server was there to take our order. Great experience so far for sure. Since there were 6 of us we decided to abuse the appetizer menu. We ordered the Nachos, Loaded Cheesy Chorizo Skins, Backyard Tenders, the Kung Pao Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and a side of Brussels Sprouts. The $18 nachos came out first and the portion size was not up to the $18 price tag. They were also cold and the chips were quite soggy especially at the bottom where the canned cheese sauce seemed to pool. Flavor was good though. A few minutes later the Backyard Tenders, Kung Pao Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Brussels Sprouts arrived. The tenders were crispy and juicy and done well but were cold and really had no flavor to them. The fries on the side were crispy and would have been better warm. The Kung Pao Chicken Lettuce Wraps were also cold, quite soggy, and flavorless. Most of the lettuce was so soggy that if you tried to make a wrap, it just fell apart and again, there was very little flavor. Finally in round 2 the Brussels Sprouts were so blackened that they were mostly ash and were also cold. The crushed red pepper in them did give them a bit of a kick but all in all quite disappointing. About 20 min later we did finally get the Loaded Cheesy Chorizo Skins we ordered. We were excited that we had forgotten all about them. They were lukewarm and had good flavor but there were maybe 3 or 4 tiny pieces of chorizo on the top. With about 1 quarter left in the game and even with the disappointing food experiences we had so far we decided to try out the Bananas Foster Egg Roll. It looked divine on the menu and the concept sounded delicious. This dish actually arrived WARM with ice cream in the center topped with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle surrounded by 4 banana egg rolls. The banana egg roll had no seasoning so was basically a deep-fried banana with a quasi crunchy shell. Had they added some cinnamon and/or brown sugar to the banana egg roll it would have been delicious. If you got all of the components into one spoon it was palatable but left a lot to be desired. The game watching atmosphere is amazing and will be even more so when the weather cools and they can open up all the garage doors and the drinks and drink specials were great but the food was very lackluster. read more

Been here a few times. This place has a great atmosphere, but the food and service is unfortunately not good at all. Today we went back and had the quesadillas which were all vegetables and no cheese. Almost inedible they were so bad. Ordered a side of guac which was an extra $2 for a tiny cup. Our friends had the nachos and they barely had anything on them. Our waitress never came to check on us, we had to constantly ask for more water and drinks. My husband came here for 3 days straight during March Madness. I then got the chance to go myself and I have to say this place is great! Just what that area needed. An awesome, open, wall to wall TV, sports bar! Great selection of beers and spirits. The service was awesome. My husband said the food was fine but they are working on their menu so I have hopes of some good bar food. I loved how big and spacious it was inside. Almost every wall opens up for when the weather is good. They had some games to play and lots of Instagram worthy places to take photos. We will definitely be back.
