I went with a friend for lunch yesterday (Thursday), and after trying pretty much all of the major restaurants in the Hingham/JNorwell/Cohasset area, this restaurant was clearly at the top of my list. We were served the Wagyu Beef Sliders and the Bacon & Carmelized Onion Arancini for appetizers, and the Pulitzer Short Rib Burger and Norwell Hot Chicken Sandwich for entrees. I say that we were "served" those things because we actually ordered the Bavarian Pretzels and not the Wagyu Beef Sliders, but because the sliders were so delicious, we figured that we'll try the pretzels on the next go around. All four of our dishes were absolutely fantastic. The sliders and arancini were absolutely top-notch. I've had so many average arancini that I forgot what it's like when cooked at a high-level. It's as good as any I've had anywhere. And the Pulitzer Burger is now my favorite burger ever. Just the right amount of char on the outside with the inside a perfect medium. The chicken was moist with fantastic seasoning. The unexpected surprise were the fries. The fries here are outstanding. And they achieve something that I've never seen anywhere else: their fries are "pillowy". They are crispy on the outside, but the inside is remarkably moist and fluffy. I'd have to categorize these as steak fries, but steak fries are usually a bit denser. Service was terrific, and the decor of the place is not "dated", as another reviewer commented. The place was clearly built to give off a classic and intimate vibe. I didn't try any of the fish offerings this time, but I plan on returning and checking them out. It blows my mind that I never heard of this place until a few days ago.

Unfortunately, the service felt rushed and somewhat impersonal. Our waitress was responsive when she was at the table, but she tended to disappear for long periods of time. As for the food, it was honestly just average. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and I'm sad to report it was a disappointment. The hollandaise was cold, the eggs were over-poached, the English muffin only was toasted on one side and the hash browns lacked flavor. Even the coffee I ordered with my meal arrived lukewarm. Surprisingly, the best part of the experience was the Bloody Mary I had at the start of the meal. Maybe the the food would be better during lunch or dinner service. I might give them another try in the future and hope for a better experience.

Hanover has the good stuff!…read more As a Quincy resident we are lucky to have some phenomenal restaurants close by. Hanover is another city that also has some excellent places to dine and 3Brothers Grill is just one of them! Met some girlfriends here just a few days after that nasty blizzard and the reason for mentioning it, parking was tough, but the restaurant was very busy. Upon arrival, the place is very modern and looks brand new. I think our server said they have been there for 2 years now. Same owners as Brothers Roast Beef in Quincy and numerous South Shore cities, which was new information to me. We all had some drinks and then ordered the Buffalo Chicken Dip which was okay. My only complaint is it wasn't whole chicken pieces, it was more of shredded chicken but still not bad. We all ordered salads. I got the Greek Chicken salad which was good. My friends also had salads and there were plenty of leftovers to bring home. I couldn't resist their banana fosters bread pudding! It was delicious. The bar area is perfect to watch sports games with their big screen TVs. I know I will be back for sure sometime. If you are in the area, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out. Cheers~

We've been to the Hanover location a few times now, twice for dinner and once for lunch yesterday…read more Very nice interior and the bar is great but limited seating. They have some good draft beer options, but it could be colder. We tried the Korean wings for an appetizer and shared the plate between the five of us. The bread service is excellent with crusty type bread and it's served with green oil and yellow olive oil and cheese dipping sauce, a must-try. So far i have always gone with the chili seared yellow noodles either with chicken, shrimp or just noodles and it is spicy as it has some red peppers in it but it is excellent, served with chop sticks if you prefer to use them. I would not recommend the salads there, my wife hasn't been happy with them compared to other restaurant offerings. Reservations are recommended and watch the hours because they close after lunch at 3pm and re-open for dinner at 5pm. The menu is varied but I am always laser-focused on the yellow noodles for good reason. Service has been good and attentive.

My favorite chive oil (complimentary) remains Sorelle in Abington, but The Square offered a very tasty version of their own. My pork belly tacos were delicious--maybe fewer raw red onions in the slaw, or use pickled ones, since they did dominate the flavors. My friends enjoyed the burger and the smoked turkey grilled cheese--more club sandwich than actual grilled cheese. The fries were crispy and hot. We didn't have room for dessert, but I'd like to go back and try the salon burger and the Wedge salad. I didn't get our server's name, but she was friendly enough and checked back a few times. There were plenty of staff to clear dishes or refill water glasses. The price point is a bit high for lunch as compared to similar establishments, but the interior is clean, modern and hip, so I'm sure the rent factors into the overall costs. I'd go back again.

It was a small gathering (just 4 of us) and this seemed like a fun thing to do. We've been to SOT a few times and it's always been great. I checked the website to see if there was a Thanksgiving menu, and there wasn't. This suited us just fine because we love the menu. Our out-of-town guest brought desserts, so the plan was to have dinner at SOT and dessert at home. Imagine our shock to arrive and find an unappetizing and expensive prix fixe Thanksgiving menu. I had the Caesar salad which was utter slop. It was like a packaged Dole salad, but far worse because there was too much dressing and too much cheese. Upon further reflection, I'm not sure this *wasn't* a bagged salad that someone tried to spruce up with more dressing and cheese. Blech. Two of us went against our better judgement and got the $72 (!) Thanksgiving entree and it was slop too: Slices of dry turkey piled atop gross stuffing with a pile of squash on one side and a scoop of mashed potatoes on the other, all slathered in nasty brown gravy. The cranberry sauce was the only good thing and it helped ameliorate the shabbiness, but there wasn't enough of it to save this unappealing orgy of brown food. It was sad that there was no vegetable in this entree, but I guess vegetables would have been too difficult to pull off for the crowds they had. Two of us got the haddock and said the corn chowder with bacon was much too salty. Dessert was nothing special. Before being seated, there was the chaos we encountered at the front of the house. The restaurant was clearly overbooked. We got there at 5:05 for our 5:15 reservation to find the area from the bar to the front door packed with people waiting to be seated. A senior citizen was sitting sadly on a chair by the front door, getting blasts of cold air every time the door opened. When she and her party were seated I had my mother (80 years old) sit on the lone chair. People just kept piling in... it was loud, stressful, and dangerous. KUDOS TO THE STAFF FOR ENDURING THIS LEVEL OF CHAOS WITH PATIENCE AND GRACE! The second star is for them. I have to ask: Did someone at SOT decide to foist a Thanksgiving menu upon everyone at the last minute? If I'd seen that menu I wouldn't have made a reservation. I've always liked SOT but I'm not sure we'll ever go back. We had fun together because the atmosphere there is always festive, but we truly felt insulted by that dinner, and bamboozled by having to order from a menu we didn't expect. Our dinner came up to $316, $386 with tip. If the food had been spectacular we wouldn't have minded, but this was shameful. The owners will have made a killing yesterday, but this experience killed our Thanksgiving. NO THANKS AND NEVER AGAIN.

True to their name, they offer fresh local oysters, as well as littleneck clams, shrimp, and of course, locally caught fish. On our first HH visit, I ordered the Duxbury-sourced oysters. They were sweet as sugar and a tad briny, Perfecto. Plus one ordered fried oysters, and they were fried perfectly. Since our golf match was rained out, we stopped by for lunch. My fish tacos were on point. The cod was so tender, and the cole slaw was a perfect accompaniment. Plus one ordered fish and chips, and according to live feedback, they were as good as the ones she had in Seattle. Lightly breaded tender haddock equals 5-stars! She judges all fish and chips by the one she experienced in Seattle! Service is on point, and we rarely, if ever had to flag down our bartenders for refills. They do have a full bar and an interesting (in a good way) wine list. The main bar area does get busy, but there is a satellite bar area and a patio. When we were waiting for our table at the hostess stand, we and another party saw a mouse. My husband stated he thought it ran over his foot. I asked if we should go... but as we are veterans of living in the city and mice being pretty normal, we decided to stay. Maybe we should have gone to have a better night. Service at the start was fine, but then drinks did not come until after the first round of food. In addition, as I've seen from a few reviews here, we received an additional tray of tacos that was not ours, which a runner then took away and looked to serve to the correct table. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I know you never take a plate of food from one table and move it to another. Everything came out within 7 to 10 minutes, which was great, but a few of the tacos seemed like they had been sitting and were soggy which I took to mean they were sitting prepped in the kitchen and just popped on the table. Who knows. Because then when we ordered a few more tacos, we waited about 20 minutes before starting to look around and our server not once making eye contact. 10 minutes later, my husband and daughter left to go to the bookstore while I waited for the check and as soon as they had left, the tacos came out, in a to go box. The server did not offer to do anything in regards to the long wait time, which even if I wouldn't have taken, should have been addressed. We won't be coming back for a long time... It seems they've lost their way. If you do go...the pork belly taco and the crispy oyster taco were both delicious (even if soggy).

It was a mixed bag of responses from our group, seated past any lunch rush in a nearly empty dining room. A day after St. Patrick's day, I tried a special of Beef Stew. I found it was . . . meh at best, A little too salty for my taste, and it seemed to be getting down to the end of it. One potato wedge, 2 carrot slices, a few bobbles of stew beef and a lot of thick, over-salted stew. The accompanying wedge of soda bread had 2 hefty butter slices that couldn't save the dryness, but Irish soda bread is always a hit or miss prospect. On the other hand, a takeout Wedge Salad had everything I could dream of putting on a wedge of iceberg, accompanied by a healthy piece of delicious salmon that was cooked perfectly. A Reuben sandwich was full and seemed to please one of our party- the most difficult one to please - and the giant pile of french fries that cozied up to it looked like twice-cooked salty goodness. The third in our party had a simple Garden Salad that, like the Wedge, looked like it was a good salad. Coffee was good, and served alongside a little tray of a petite creamer, sugar and a single spoon was just a simple but sweet touch on a gloomy day. For me, the standout was the responsive waitstaff- servers were professional, informative about the menu and friendly without being overly pushy to order - the best combination. Overall, it was good and probably would be a lot better with more careful menu choices next time. And I'll definitely return for another Wedge Salad!

This place has a neighborhood bar and grill feel with a nice driving range (and pro shop) out back. In my opinion, it's a 5-star atmosphere with 4-star food and drinks. We visited on a Thursday night and the place was PACKED. The parking lot was completely full with cars overflowing onto the side of the main road outside. I can't imagine how crazy it is on the weekend. We got on the waiting list after finally finding parking, and it was about 45 minutes until we got a table. No complaints though since it was the perfect amount of time for my husband to hit the driving range, and there's a little outdoor bar where you can grab a drink while you wait. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and while there were people of all ages drinking, golfing, or enjoying a meal, it's all definitely very family-friendly with lots of kids running around. The food itself was actually better than we expected, though a bit overpriced. I get the sense people are really coming here for the golf and the vibes more than anything else. Since that's what we were expecting, we were pretty satisfied with the quality of the wings, fried haddock sandwich, and strawberry salad we split. I also tried the Cool As a Cucumber cocktail and was super happy with it. Not too sweet and nice and refreshing on a hot day sitting outside. With lots of golfers in my family, I have a feeling this won't be our last visit!

The bread basket came out fresh and warm (dangerously good), and set the tone immediately. I had the stuffed fish, and it was cooked to perfection--flavorful, well seasoned, and not heavy at all. Paired it with a fresh salad tossed in a mustard vinaigrette that was light, tangy, and just right. And the mocktails? So good. Crafted beautifully, refreshing, and not an afterthought like some places make them feel. What I love most is the consistency. The "togarashi-crusted" tuna was not crusted at all--completely bland, with no seasoning or flavor. It tasted like it had been frozen, thawed, and simply dropped into the bowl. The rest of the ingredients were just as underwhelming. Everything was placed in separate, unappealing mounds around the bowl: a pile of tasteless sushi rice with a few sesame seeds, hard and underripe avocados chunks, unseasoned raw shredded carrots, smashed vinegar cucumbers with no trace of cilantro and beside that were the overpowering pickled red onions. To make matters worse, it all sat awkwardly on top of a mayonnaise ginger-soy aioli that did nothing to bring the dish together. There was no balance, no cohesion, and absolutely no flavor. It looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. I barely touched it. The server never asked why, and even if she had, I was with coworkers and wouldn't have felt comfortable saying how bad it was. For $28, this was unacceptable. Honestly, it felt like something a child threw together--bland, poorly executed, and completely lacking care. Would not order again.
