Stopped here for an early dinner on a friends' recommendation. The process is that you walk up to a counter, place your order, then find a table and they bring the food to you. Lots of picnic-table style seating, although some of it is cramped and a little too close together. I spent most of my meal dodging little feet into my back from the kids sitting behind me. I mean, there was a foot or less of room between my bench and theirs. Atmosphere is very casual, with lots of sawdust and peanut shells on the floor. Sometimes they have live entertainment. A game room and a banquet room are also on the premises. I ordered a two-meat combination, selecting the tri-tip & chicken, along with the coleslaw and tri-tip chili as my sides. I was hungry! My wife ordered a 1 meat platter and my kid had the kid's meal. I found the food to be good, with the chicken being my favorite. The tri-tip was cooked well and tender with almost no fat. The chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful. The chili was great, with just enough zing to remind you that you're eating chili. While the food was good, the portions were scrawny! The size of each of the meals ordered was almost the same! I expected the two meat platter to have twice as much meat as the 1 meat platter. Not so. As a matter of fact, all 3 platters appeared to have almost the same amount of meat! WTF?? A 2 meat platter contains the same amount of meat as a kid's meal or a 1 meat platter? (Edit - To clarify, my 2 meat platter contained approx 2 very thin slices of tri-tip about the 2/3 size of a playing card and about 4 "strips" of chicken breast meat. Not even a 1/2 breast or steak's worth! Sides were about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of each. Also had 1 roll. For $13.00??) Because of this, I won't be going back. If I'm paying extra for a two-meat platter, I expect extra meat!

    Arcade separate from dining area.

I like this type of casual restaurant. Picnic table seating, concrete floors and free peanuts, throw the shells on the floor. They have an arcade completely separate from the dining area for the kids and pool tables in the back of the dining area for the big kids. Definitely a locals place. You walk in and order at the counter then take a seat and they bring all the food to your table. I think the BBQ here is really good. It's real BBQ that's for sure. They give plenty of it too. I'm not one to share a meal or usually have a doggie bag but I've done both here. I've had, BBQ chicken, ribs, tacos, sandwich, etc. ALL good.

I agree with most of the posts about this spot...the food is good, the service is just not great. The girls behind the counter don't care if you go there to eat or not. The atmosphere is not bad for a strip mall. They could use some live music though...they could use music at all (the TVs and sound system was on the fritz during our visit), it was too quiet. Weird they close at 8pm, even on the weekends...

Backwoods BBQ is the best barbecue in SoCal. Hands down. Great, Quality food for a price that no competitors can touch. On site catering comes with a huge BBQ and smoker and they carve the tritip and chicken on site on the buffet line! Bad ass! Not to mention the smell that that bad boy produces is insane! Your whole neighborhood will smell like mesquite barbecue. Drool. If you haven't tried the tritip chili, you are truly missing out on a party for your tastebuds. It's loaded with meat and flavor. Steve is awesome to work with and will make sure all of your requests are addressed. If you're looking for some great food, awesome service and to wow your guests, I highly recommend Backwoods BBQ.

Pulled pork, chicken, cheesy corn, mac n cheese

We had Backwoods BBQ cater my daughter's baby shower this past Saturday and the food was the hit of the party! We had pulled pork, mesquite chicken, tri-tip chili, macaroni salad, baked beans, dinner salad, mac n cheese and cheesy corn. I was worried I would run out of food for my 60 guests, but Steve showed up on time and with enough food to feed 100 people! Everyone was able to take to go plates home. Honestly, the food was the topic of the party even 2 days later people were calling us and texting us asking who prepared the delicious food! Steve is very professional and communicates well. I highly recommend Backwoods BBQ for your catering needs!

We had a ton of questions about what to order and he provided excellent recommendations. He brought us fresh baked rolls right away which were AHMAZING We both ordered the lunch special which came with soup or salad, 2 sliders, and a side. I chose the garden salad, Western tri-tip, the brisket, and Mac N Cheese. The salad was absolutely delicious!! I dug into it before I took a pick so it's blended together but it had the most delicious croutons and fire grilled corn. The ingredients were really fresh and the salad was not over dressed. The sliders were also really good, however, my first bite of the Western one was literally all fat and I had to spit it out. It made the rest of the sandwich unappetizing but I did hunt for any other major fat pockets and didn't see any. Both sliders were really good. The Mac N Cheese was not my favorite, but I saved it for my daughter and she loved it! Tyler really made our experience epic and the food overall was really good.

Not much if the manager or the waitress want to turn the around quick, but we were rush through our dinner. For the food, the ribeye was cooked perfectly. Best steak I had in this area. The brisket on the other was nothing to write home about. It was drier than a school lunch turkey, which tells me this came out of an oven and not a smoker. Overall, not the best experience for an anniversary dinner.

It took quite awhile to wait but the length was not the issue... The waiting process was confusing. The waitlist text provided minimal info and just said it will update later, but inside the restaurant there was a separate wait line. A bit confusing for first timers to know where to go... Moving on the the actual food. The bread is AMAZING. It was served warm with honey cinnamon butter. The bread itself had a slight cinamom sweetness already, adding the butter spread makes it even more addicting. Worth the calories, asked for more during the meal and packed some home as well. I will 100% come back for just the bread at least. For entree got the fried catfish for $21 and it came with 4 pieces with 2 sides (picked house salad with made in house honey lime dressing and baked sweet potato). Everything is a bit pricey cuz it's a steakhouse, but the food tasted fresh and according to server almost everything is made in house from the marinated pork ribs down to the salad dressings, which was actually pretty good. Had a taste of the table's ny steak order and it was pretty good so might go for that next time... and/or their ribs... p.s. Don't forget to ask for peanuts!

We were greeted immediately and helped right away. They have iced water available right by the register. I had been eyeing the salmon from their Yelp menu photos, but sadly they didn't have that. So I decided to go with the pulled pork tacos on the recommendation of the cashier. The tacos are served on 3 corn tortillas with pulled pit smoked pork, mango-pomegranate salsa and chopped cilantro. Served with a side of homemade chips, which were amazing! The tortillas are extremely hot when the plate first comes out because they are actually quesadillas--nice added feature! I'm a saucy girl and needed some extra sauce on my tacos, so I went with their house BBQ sauce which you can help yourself to--it was perfect! The tacos were VERY filling, so I had to take some home as leftovers. My friend got the Yellowstone burger and THAT looked incredible. May have to try that next time.
