Had a great quick meal while in town on business. Ribs fell off the bone; sauce had good taste (although it has some kick so watch for that). Sides were average. Definitely might hit them up again before heading out of town. read more

Fantastic BBQ just as good as any other paducah BBQ. Fall off the bone ribs, tender pork and good sides. Never a crowd and the food is fantastic. Eating in is a pretty simple and rustic, but you still get great food. read more

The people were very nice, but the rub they use is hideously over salted and I used their sauce, something I never do to smoked BBQ because the flavor is in the meat, not the sauce. By the way their "mild" sauce was as hot as Tabasco and I'm afraid to try the hot sauce, I'm not sure it's not nuclear waste. If they had some smoke flavor in the meat and backed off the salt in the rub, they would have great ribs. The ribs were very tender, but lacked smoked flavor and the cook didn't slice the into individual ribs as I had requested, making them difficult to eat in the car on my two hour drive home and I specifically told them I needed them cut up for this reason. I wouldn't go here again because although the sauce made them edible, without it, they were flavorless and way way way too salty. read more

I just wanted to apologize to the patrons and fellow workers for the massive fart I ripped today in y'all's restaurant. Overall pleasant experience and the BBQ sandwich and coleslaw were great. read more

Took a customer there and the food tasted like it was a week old. Sides and service was good. I would not recommend.

Was driving through on the way to Orlando and stopped. Great pulled pork, great Cole slaw and the beans were fine. Service was good and fast. Both myself, and my daughter, loves their sauce. Would certainly stop again. read more

I discovered this western KY gem in 2004, and have been a faithful customer ever since. The sides are always consistently yummy (although just a little of Backwoods' delicious sauce in the baked beans works wonders) and the pulled and chopped pork, the ham and the ribs are always moth-watering, taste-tempting and finger-lickin' good! If I can borrow a line from "Next Friday", Backwoods "tastes so good, it'll make you wanna slap yo mama!" If you're in Paducah, do yourself a favor and dine with the crew of Backwoods! read more

Evacuted hurricane irma from Florida and are staying nearby. Looked this up and drove over...Pork is excellent...Chili is spicy n good...service is excellent....we love it!!! read more

BBQ is good! Staff is friendly! My only problem would be that the building is a bit run down...

Fantastic! The food and the sevice were great. I tried a little of everything on the menu and loved it all and so did my wallet. Prices are very reasonable. read more

If I wanted to describe Backwoods BBQ in one word it would 'mediocre'. When I visit a BBQ place for the first time I usually get the pulled pork and fries or baked beans. The pork was OK nothing special, and the bread it was between was plain and smashed down white bread. The sauce seems like it could've been store bought, just like the baked beans. Normally a BBQ place will add their own touch to the beans, but these beans were bland. As for fries... there aren't any! You can get a bag of chips, but who really wants that? Overall I was pretty disappointed, and I won't be going back. On a positive note, the service was friendly, but even so, I'll pass on Backwoods. read more

We love BBQ and were greatly looking forward to this new culinary adventure. Upon arrival, the shabby building took me back some; we even questioned if it was open. Then 2 other patrons left. We went in and were greeted by a waitress right away who sat us. We both ordered pulled pork sandwiches, my husband trying a side of hashbrown casserole, and I stuck with chips. The food was served quickly. However this pitiful bun and minuscule quantity of pulled pork posing for a sandwich, which looked like it had been flattened with a clothes iron, arrived. What a disappointment. The BBQ sauce was very runny, but had a kick to it. The portions were small and the quality left much to be desired . 2 hours later, I started to feel slightly ill and with an upset stomach. I doubt food poisoning, but definitely did not sit well. Needless to say, we will not be returning, nor do we recommend. read more

Delicious barbecue and the hot sauce is amazing!! I could drink it!! Make sure you get a portion of the hashbrown casserole and baked beans too. Top it off with a slice of awesome Chocolate pie. YUMMY ALL AROUND!!!! read more

Really delish potato casserole! Homemade potato salad served icy-cold (a good thing!). Unfortunately the ribs we ordered were burnt well done. The meat we did get off the bone was tasty. Pulled pork portion bountiful, but on the dry side. Absolutely perfect sweet tea. Great sauce--vinegary with a hot tail! read more

This place was OK I must say I was surprised there were no beef offerings. The chicken sandwich was a bit dry, but sauce it up and it was pretty good. The pork ribs had excellent flavor, but were a little more fatty than I'm used to They didn't give me a knife, but non was needed as they were fall off the bone good. The sides are smallish, get 2 if your hungry. Grabbed a slice of chess(?) pie for later, it was very good. read more

Backwoods BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Paducah, Kentucky

We stumbled onto Backwoods and were we ever glad we did! The chili was terrific--meaty, spicy. The pork sandwiches are served either on a bun or on bread. Your choice. The hashbrown casserole was like cracker barrel. It was good. The beans were fantastic. Just a hint of heat to them. It was really cheap. We will be back! read more

Placed order for a Christmas eve pickup , was third in line at 8:00 in morning. The manager for the day instead of filling the orders as the woman had placed them according to who got there first , he instead decided to fill orders of everyone that he knew that came in after. Waited for over 45 mins. before ours which was a simple order was filled. Will definitely will not place orders with backwoods again!!!! read more

Friendly folks. The food to my tastes was uninspired. It was ok, nothing horrible, but not a place I would return too.

One of the first things I saw after moving to Paducah was a sign that read, Mutton Monday. I was intrigued. As I patiently waited for the next Monday. I pestered my wife with how excited I was about this. You see, where I moved from people don't eat mutton. If they do it is a lamb chop and not served in any restaurants and certainly not barbecue. Well Monday came and off we went to backwoods. So me and my wife both had the mutton plate. (she got it because I told her she could not try mine). At first I found it a little dry but flavorful. But when I added a little sauce. I really came to life. I first tried the hot sauce. I was good dont get me wrong It was not great. Then I tried the Normal sauce. It was also good But a little sweet for my taste. But when blended about 1 part normal to 2 parts hot it was fantastic. As for side I had just the slaw. Which was pretty good. Nice and crisp. Next time I might try the hash brown casserole or the beans. With how good the lamb was I look forward to trying their pork or what ever they are willing to cook up. read more

My husband and I love backwoods. They have amazing BBQ, ribs, chicken and the best hash brown casserole I've ever had ! They catered our wedding and did an incredible job. Everyone raved about the food and the service. Thank you backwoods ! read more

Pretty good BBQ and good size sandwich. Chocolate Meringue pie was good although filling was more like thick pudding. Employees seemed nice. read more

Not a bad restaurant... nice people working there, great prices on the food and a great atmosphere, and do not forget the desert there great!!! read more

Great food! All the food was excellent! We loved the baked beans. They taste like the ones mom used to make.

Generous portions. Simple sides but very good. Good pork. Would have loved to try the pie but too full from the hefty lunch plate.

Be warned! Went an hour before closing on a Sat night. Not crowded at all. Was told, "Take out orders only". Ended up at a chain restaurant again. read more

Excellent as always. I've eaten here for over a decade, and it never disappoints. A suggestion: try half a slab of ribs with a side of hash brown casserole and one of the other sides(all of the others are good but the hash browns are a must-have). Don't like pork? The chicken is great. Sauce is a homemade sweet/hot, thick but not like KC's Masterpiece, more the consistency of Sriracha. Friendly wait-staff, nice family management, and quality, true southern barbecue. If that's what you are looking for, you've found it! read more

You cannot get more legit barbecue in this area. It's delicious. It's cooked to perfection. I have seen the process and they do not cut corners. The cheesy hash browns or brisket will make you come back. They are the best. The owner David is an extremely nice gentleman and the customer service is authentic country. I recommend the whole chicken...deboned! :) read more

Probably the worst barbecue we've ever had. No smoke at all noticeable on the pulled pork, which was quite dry and flavorless. Only two sauces on the table, but neither was very good at all. read more

I was spending the night in Paducah and jogging along U.S. 60 when I saw Backwoods Barbecue in front of Lowes. On a whim I decided to stop in for a late evening dinner. Even though I completely undid all the good I had accomplished during my 3-mile run, by the end of the meal I knew I had found what I was looking for - a barbecue joint worth returning to again and again. The half slab was perfectly done - the meat falling off the bone with ease and covered lightly with what I'm guessing is called a dry rub. Those who like their barbecue floating in sauce will have to put in a special request. The hashbrown casserole side was something I'd never had before and found to be an extremely pleasant surprise. Finally, I know I shouldn't have but I did anyway - I ordered some ice cream. Three scoops were more than I expected and, like everything else on the menu, reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back. read more

Cheap but good bbq. Very simple food, lots of flavor. I liked the chicken a lot. Ribs looked a little dry but I didn't try them.

Not very good barbecue. All the sides taste like they came directly out of a 5 gallon bucket, not homemade. Friendly waitstaff.

We've been here a few times over the years. Restaurant was always clean and neat. Servers have always been fast, courteous, and helpful. Food was always hot and fresh. Im from the south south so BBQ was a part of my life growin up. This is pretty good for KY. Its no Jim and Nicks, but its good when you have a hankerin for some BBQ . We will be back. Keep up the good work. :) read more

As a traveler from saint paul I enjoy me some bbq when in in more Southern States. This page fits the bill for lunch. Backwoods has good service and good food for a bargain price. Last visit I had a puked pork sandwich and hashbrown casserole, which handsomely did the job for me. I will be visiting again on my next trip. read more

Good BBQ, good value. However service was lacking Saturday night when we were in. Can't let the kids run the store, it's not just cooking, it's service and cleanliness. I am still a fan. read more

Horribly nasty Faux-BQ. I'm from Owensboro, Ky and we are known as the BBQ Capital of the world. I think I know good BBQ when I taste it, and this ain't it. They serve their BBQ dip on the side instead adding it to the meat. This place needs to head up to Owensboro so they can learn the right way to cook BBQ. read more
