Friday night is the "free" night where there is no cover charge. I have visited this club on three occasions during my trips to the ATL (from the SF Bay ~ RAIDER Nation). My most recent visit was on 8/24/2012 and the club is "under new management" - whatever that means. I arrived very early with a group of 8. The tables are very small and the decor is very tacky, even for GA standards. The disco ball and strobe lighting effects are just past season (by 2 decades) and not very attractive. There is a 2 drink minimum, no problem. We had a great waitress named Anna and she visited our table quite often. My main gripe is that the music totally sucks. It too is 2 decades past season and line dancing is just, well, country - to say the least. The ratio of females to males is approx 24 to 1 ~ BORING!!! Trust and believe that if you want to dance, you will have the option of dancing alone or with another chica ~ I'm cool. The dance floor is ridiculously tiny and you will find yourself freak dancing by accident and circumstance. The club closes at 2 a.m. but my mind shuts down 10 minutes after walking in and my ADDHD sets in. On future visits to the ATL, I will pass on this country bumkin establishment and locate something more upscale. read more

Fish plate wasn't good. Fight broke out with police ending up falling on my friend and I and it was on from there. Table and three big men on top of us. Needless to say her back is hurt, my left arm and side are hurt. Police get in a shoot out and kill the man. I'm nervous, felt like passing out but we made it home. read more

FOOD IS NASTY AS FUCK!!! I ordered 3 different things, the salmon, shrimp and wings.... salmon was over cooked and dry, shrimp was burnt and the lemon pepper wings taste like season salt wings... NEVER AGAIN! read more

I really enjoyed this place. It was smoke free, clean, dimly lit, and perfect for dancing your butt off. The DJ for Thursday nite is hilarious. She asked all the single men to line up, then requested the single women to pick which guy they wanted to dance with. My friend was quick to be the first in line. The DJ asked, "are you married? do you have kids?" Then she threw a bombshell: Do You Swallow?" In shock, my friend asked, "can you repeat the question?," The DJ asked again, "Do you Swallow?" My friend stood with her mouth wide open, while we all were laughing as hard we could. Without any answer, the DJ said, yeah, she swallow, look at her mouth. OMG, was not expecting to laugh so hard. Ages and music vary- gotta love the 90s, and they don't mind playing, finally someone understands me! Also, the majority seem to be 25 and up. I had a good time. Visiting out of town and met up with friends at Backstage. Admission fee $10 but there is free parking. It's location is behind stores. Was greeted by the security who opened the door and welcomed me in. Once inside the club it was a nice crowd but not packed where you can't walk around. There were groups of people standing and sitting. The decor is outdated and appears to be from the early 90's. The Music was the best. The DJ played songs from my era and not that new rap that sounds the same. I saw food coming from the back but did not order anything. So I'm here on a Sunday because of the band exclusive they had featured. The band had everyone on the floor and was the highlight of the night. The place was decorated nicely I suppose for the several birthday parties. Nice crowd, free entry and free buffet (I didn't eat though it's flu season!) The reason I can't give higher than a 3 is due to the poor customer service from the bartender and even the "clean up" crew. I have a feeling he might've been something else but who cares. This is a great place. The crowd is older and mature. I came in on a Wednesday night around and 830 just to get out of the hotel. My friends invited me here on Thursday night to partake in crab legs and drinks. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. The crab legs were very well seasoned and the drinks were strong. I went there to have somewhere to go with company from out of town , we had appetizers I ordered a basket of fries and those fries were $10 now the menu said that the fries were $3.95, but I didn't see that was $10 fries on that menu. I couldn't argue with the nice waitress because there was nothing to imply, but they were $10. The music was good, and the service was great. I will go back but I will not buy the food. During my visit, I enjoyed everything about this place other that when the music goes "too old." Prices are fair. The women look beautiful. Just be careful to avoid parking in the larger lot across the street. Some hustlers try to associate themselves with the club about parking but are there just to make a quick buck. I am definitely a fan of Backstage and have been for a long time. I am an entrainment talent manager and work for a national magazine publication. I have booked bands and also met clients at this venue which I felt was appropriate and entertaining to do so. I recommended Backstage as the best location in town to host my cousin's B-day party last week. Yes, Macon, Georgia showed up and showed out. I am not advertising/promoting BSR&L . However, in my opinion BSR&L is a great location to host your 30ty something and up B-day party due to the space and diversity in clientele. BSR&L is not too stuffy; people can come and really enjoy themselves and let their inhibitions go. If you find a negative review, it's because people don't know how to make their own party. I was recommended to check this place out by a friend that had been here four times. The parking lot was packed with cars, we had to park in the back of building walked into a beautiful place with old school music rocking the house. We hurried to find a table, to get a good view of the dance floor. The waitress came to our table, which seem to take a while. We ordered drinks and food, it took an hour before drinks were given to us and shortly their after the food came. I ask our waitress for and knife and fork. I was told most people eat cat fish nuggets with their fingers, but I will bring you one. The service a this place was awful, what a disappointment. It was girls night out! what a shame! Backstage Atlanta is like a diamond in the rough. I say this because it's a gem to find considering it's located off Old National Highway which we all know can be a bit hectic. The parking lot is big but you may still find yourself without a place to park because on the weekends the place is JUMPING! When I walked in I was greeted by many smiling faces and hellos. I instantly felt like I was welcomed to be there! Good customer service, with me, goes a long way. I really enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the place. It's nice without being gaudy so you don't feel bad joining your fellow brothers and sisters on the dance floor to bust a move or a hip haha. The crowd is older which is nice considering most young ppl don't seem to know how to act these days but the staff is a young and respectful group, which I like. Shows good home training and good judgement from the owners. Speaking of the owners! I've met them and they are so down to Earth! Very hard working ppl and not afraid to get their hands dirty along with their staff if they have to! I'd definitely recommend Backstage Atlanta to anyone. If you hate good food, good friends, and good drinks then this place isn't for you but if you like those things, I suggest you make the trip. -A happy customer read more

It does not get any better! The perfect combination of music, food, and drinks. Food is great, please try the fried wings and cat fish nuggets. My bartender (Sasha) took great care of me! Please ask for her when you are there. The manager (Moon) was pretty cool, he welcomed me and made sure I was taken care of by the bartender. Grown and sexy! The best party in the city by far. I only been on a Friday night and it was no stuck people in the building. Everybody dancing, and socializing with no drama. Everyone was dress to impress. Free parking and admission when I arrived.
