    Unfortunately not our experience

***DO NOT GO HERE*** Based on our experience, I find it difficult to understand some of the positive reviews. During our visit, there were multiple tables and guests complaining about long wait times and poor service. We personally witnessed other customers expressing frustration after waiting over an hour for food. My son rented a private cabana for our family, and unfortunately the experience was terrible from start to finish. We arrived at 6:30 PM and did not even have a waitress come to our cabana until around 7:00 PM. We placed our food and drink orders immediately, but service was incredibly slow. About 45 minutes later, the calamari arrived with a hair on it. No replacement, discount, or meaningful resolution was offered. The rest of the food took even longer. Four orders of chicken wings and fries did not arrive until approximately 8:45 PM. The fries tasted old and freezer-burned. Meanwhile, my son and his family ordered dinner for three at the same time we ordered, and by 9:00 PM they still had not received their food. The cabana package includes a bottle of champagne, yet we did not receive it until after 8:00 PM. The television in the cabana also did not work, despite TV access being advertised as part of the package. According to the website, Sundays are supposed to feature a live DJ, but there was no live DJ during our visit. What made the situation even more frustrating was that we spoke to management three separate times throughout the evening and nothing was resolved. The owner eventually came over and offered 20% off the food, but that did not make up for the poor service, missing amenities, defective TV, food quality issues, and extremely long wait times. Additionally, there are no refunds on the cabana rental. For a VIP experience that cost extra, this was anything but VIP. Poor service, unacceptable food quality, advertised amenities not provided, and management that failed to correct the issues. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this establishment. DO NO

Well this is my second time and I was kinda excited because we got here early this time. Last time we got here and they didn't have a lot of the food on the menu. So this time we got the Fried Social Ribs, Deviled Eggs, Spring Rolls, Calamari, mashed potatoes and Fries. Fried Social Ribs- Tender and Juicy with a light batter and bbq sauce. Deviled Eggs- not very appealing or tasty. Tasted like pre bought boiled eggs like you buy at Walmart. Spring Rolls- they tasted good, but they gave me 3 sliced in half and on my last visit here I only got 2 so I don't know what it's supposed to be. Calamari- came with fried jalapeños which I loved but my daughter didn't like them fried together Fries-like a double fried French fry, nice crisp Mashed potatoes-can you say boxed Service was good, friendly and polite Now the feel is great and is a nice place overall to hang out with friends. The place looks really good

1942 on the Square in McDonough, GA After leaving an event in Hampton, GA, I decided to try 1942 on the Square for a bite to eat. The restaurant is located in the heart of downtown McDonough, which has a charming and walkable vibe definitely a cute area to explore. Once seated, the waitress brought over the menus, but unfortunately, the service didn't feel welcoming. There was no greeting, no mention of whether it was my first time, no explanation of the menu, and no suggestions or highlights of best-sellers just a very routine drop-off. From the menu, I ordered the 1942 Punch, which I'd rate a 3/5. Not bad, but not memorable. For my entrée, I had the Blackened Salmon Dinner Plate, which was actually good. While the food was decent, I don't see myself returning. It felt like a "try it once" type of experience. Also worth noting: the automatic 18-20% gratuity that many Metro Atlanta-area spots add I'll never get used to it, especially when the service doesn't match. I left a kind note on my receipt suggesting the waitress improve her customer service.

Food good! Service from Adrian at ther bar was great! Although it was raining when I visited I chose to sit at the outside bar because it was so cold inside. The brunch menu was small but everything I ordered was delicious. Makes me want to come back on a regular day to eat. Not to mention the location is perfectly situated in McDonough Square.

Not my first time here, but it is my first review for them! This is really good pizza! (Is there…read morebad pizza?) very traditional, thin, Neopolitan style crust. Not huge, but two or three people could enjoy. (6 slices cut) I wanted to try something different so we got two and boxed the rest. Shelby greeted and seated us, and although she lacked a little knowledge on the beer menu, she made up for that with a trip to the bar to investigate our questions on sour beer, and came back with two excellent samples! We settled on a Dr. Robot and the Charcut-a-pie. I loved the toppings and balsamic drizzle. Goat cheese and arugula just go together. A little honey and I was in heaven! The crust on this one was a little well done, which disappointed but, the overall flavor was on point. Next, we sampled the Spicy Italian. I'm usually pretty good with spicy things, and while this was no exception, it did have both of us in a small sweat! If you are averse to spicy, stick with something else. This crust was also cooked and not over done. I'm not sure what McDonoughs' obsession is with vaults, but it seems to be a recurring theme around the square. You'll find vaults or at least doors that look like vaults all over. The rest of the decor inside and outside was well done. Exposed brick gives it immediate rustic charm, while black floors, raw wood art, and leather stools wrap the package nicely. I definitely like their lighting! Oversized bulbs hung around the pizza oven bar (which you can sit at if there's space) and giant hoop rings finish the rest of the space. It isn't that glaring light that spotlights your table, it's just a nice warm ambient light that makes you wanna pour a vintage red into a wine glass over and over. Oh! I almost forgot, they do have an outdoor patio up front, so on those less humid days and nights, I'll definitely be hanging out there!

The restaurant wasn't very crowded. Our waitress was great. Very high energy. She offered great recommendations. Everything was perfect. Immediately upon entering there's a variety of booths, tables and bar seating. We opted for a table on the opposite side of the DJ so we could hear each other talk. Service was from Mimi who was very helpful in recommending the sides for our entree. We ended up ordering the jerk wings (appetizer), turkey wings with collards, dressing and candied yams. I ate the wings as my entree and we shared the sides. The presentation was great. Real plates & flatware. The sides came in their own bowls so the food doesn't touch. The strip mall entrance and parking a bit of a challenge. Full review below: I went in Saturday afternoon. It was lightly busy but fully staffed so help/attention came quick. Dining solo so I opted for a seat at the bar. Bartender was super attentive. Didn't have to wait long for a menu or to place my order. Also, she regularly checked in on how everything was. I ordered the Yellow Diamond Martini ($15) and it was delicious. I got the fried green tomatoes (4 pieces) for $11.95. Complimentary very tall cup of water. The tomatoes were a little small so this is definitely an appetizer/light snack...which is A-OK for me. It came out shortly after my martini was ready. Overall, minus tip, it came to $29. Music was playing through a speaker but not too loud. People could comfortably have a conversation. There are multiple tvs throughout. I appreciated that some of them were showing stuff other than sports. One monitor, near the restroom, is devoted to Culturistic Kitchen content, which is smart. I did use the restroom. It's two stalls and two sinks. The non-handicap/ADA stall is tiny. I'm like a medium-sized woman who is 5'7 and even I was like yikes. When the place is busy/packed I could see a wait or a line for the bathroom. The one major downside...which is not Culturistic Kitchen's fault is that the strip mall is not easy to get out of and onto the main road (Jodeco Rd) especially if you're turning left. The parking lots for all the shops, which are great businesses, should be bigger than it is. Don't be surprised if, during peak times, you may have to park 1-2 doors down from the restaurant. Overall, I would go again. I don't go out to eat that often (there's food at the house ) but if I want a good cocktail and a light snack or try some of their regular food items, I would come again. More than likely, I'd choose an off-peak time because I wouldn't want to experience it at near full capacity but that's just me.

We used to have family in the area, but unfortunately haven't been down here in 5 years as a result of them not being in the area anymore. When we used to stop in, the service was unbeatable. Everyone would treat you like family, and would get you your food fast. Now, since the restaurant is under ***new ownership***, we are not sure if that is still the case. Our server was great (she remembered our family even after 5 years (connected the dots to us)), but the rest of the employees and the community within the restaurant felt a bit stuffy. They used to have the best coffee. It is still good now, but something changed (not quite as good). Their pancakes are unfortunately rubbery, but contrastively, they have great bacon; crisp with a bit of fat, that's how we like it. Their hash browns have not changed one bit. They are still crispy!! Some stuff has changed in the atmosphere of the restaurant. They generally have the same theme, but some of the signs have changed. If you get lucky, you may get to eat your food with Shaquille O'Neal in the restaurant! He lives in the area, and comes in every now and then to get some food and pay for everybody's meal.
