I can only comment on the dining experience outdoors, and it was exceptional! Great service & even better food. The drink I had was a little messy, but very tasty. I think it was called the "Hawaiian Mai tai. " I am excited to go back and try it again. read more

Backroads Burger & Bar - Patio area has plenty of shade - Burgers Near Me - Plainfield, Illinois

I was very impressed with this place! The food was excellent as was the service. We were there on a Saturday night and they were extremely busy and we got our food and drinks in a reasonable length of time. The burgers are one pound and you can build your own! The only negative for me would be the price. I might go back with family or friends otherwise I can put together a pretty good burger on my grill. read more

My husband and I came here on a Sunday evening when I didn't feel like cooking. It came recommended to us and we really wanted to try it. There were some unique burger options as well as other sandwich choices. When we got there, there weren't many people seated and we were served right away. The decor is cool and they have posters with clever sayings. They also have a couple arcade games like "the claw". It was way to hot to sit outside, but on a cooler evening there is a big screen TV and some games on the patio. It definitely seems like a good place to hang out. They have decent beer and cider options. I'm not a big whisky drinker, but my husband was pleased with their whisky choices. The bar had a cool ambiance as well. We sat at the table, but the bar had a bold aesthetic. We ordered our entrees pretty quickly. I went with the bourbon barrel. It was a bit more of a classic flavor profile than some of the other options. It had bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and a bourbon glaze. It was really delicious. The bourbon glaze added a bit of sweetness. The burger itself was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of juiciness and fat. My husband went a little more unique and got the That's My Jam which is basically like a PB&J burger. The peanut butter sauce was actually a great addition (he let me try some ). The fries were great too. They were battered before frying which gave some extra crispness. Overall, everything was delicious and I look forward to coming here in the future. read more

Came here on a whim and I'm SO GLAD WE DID! I got the burger or the month (Nacho Man) and it was fantastic. My GF got the Get Lei'd which she also loved. Our waitress Jackie (who was also phenomenal) made excellent recommendations on beers we haven't tried before and I liked them so much that I immediately checked to see if Binnys carries them. I can't wait to come back and try the other incredible options on the menu. read more

My husband just left Backroads, the food was great and our Server Maegen Z was great. Nice addition to the team.

Our burgers were great. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff really makes you feel like home.

Was craving some totchos after a long day at work. Went to order online but no totcho option? Called and they said they don't take phone orders and to just put the order of totchos in the notes.... Ok? How do I pay for them? Did it anyway. Got a call a minute after submitting the order. They took totchos off the menu? What? I'm totcholess, disturbed by their menu removal, and uneasy about the rejection of phone orders. read more

Great atmosphere and amazing food. They run drink specials monthly. They also have a very nice outdoor patio seating area.

Ambiance was good and staff were friendly. Food looked good, however all of our food was cold and they weren't very busy. Definitely go for the drinks, not for the food. read more

Great atmosphere, great service, and best burgers in town! Very creative menu. Service is top notch too.

Food was amazing, cooked perfectly every time & very fulfilling . This place is truly a hidden gem

I've been going to lunch at Backroads for about a year now, a couple times a week. I usually have the fish and chip but I've also had their lunch burger tray. Both are excellent and I usually have enough leftovers from the fish and chips for a second meal. read more

I went on a Wednesday and burgers are half priced. The burger was phenomenal, full of flavor, and juicy. It had the perfect char and smokiness. The fries were amazing! Will definitely be returning on a Wednesday. read more

We made a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday night When we got there they weren't super busy so we probably didn't need it. We started with loaded backroads potato barrels, they were good-came with sour cream and cheese sauce for dipping. Cheese Sauce should be thicker. Reuben was good Fish tacos- good 3 tacos was plenty also came with a corn dish that was pretty good. The Cuban sandwich was really good Reuben rolls were just ok Bill was $98 b4 tip no alcohol read more

One of my favorite local spots. Have been here a few times and everything I've tried has been delicious. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful. I've never had to wait for a table and their outdoor patio is very nice. Just watch out for the bees! read more

My only problem with this fine establishment is the fact of, "Nashville Hot Chicken" is more of a bbq sauce than hot, other than that this place is amazing read more

We went here last Saturday. We were recommended to get the Angry Shrimp and Backroads Minis(3 beef slider with yummy fries). These appetizers were wonderful. We really like the Tangerine beer that the bartender told us about. We had great service at the bar. The music was at nice level where we could hear each other talk. read more

We had a large group tonight and Abby was amazing! Great service, very friendly and the food was great!

I want to be completely honest. This was a great place. I recently left a five star review. After visiting once or twice a week for a while, not sure we will go back. The staff is great, but that's the only reason for the two stars. The owners must be getting greedy. First, let me point out until this week they offered 10 tacos for twelve dollars. They still have it on their website, so don't pay attention to it. But the special now is five for twelve. They didn't even cut back slowly, just got greedy. This is a deal you can find anywhere. And they are better elsewhere. It really was just the price that made it a good deal. Not authentic tacos at all. They also charge eight dollars for a regular tap beer now. No thanks. And as for the twenty dollar burger, they used to ask how you want it cooked, but not the last time we were there. It was also smaller and nothing you couldn't get at a chain. It's really disappointing when a place is good, but then changes for profit. I'd now say, stay away and go elsewhere. A few months ago, I'd have taken anyone there, but now, you'll spend almost seventy dollars for two burgers and a beer that you can get anywhere for half that. Kind of sad that greed takes over. I really thought they had pride. read more

Food is fantastic!!! The restaurant was several different things prior to becoming Backroads. Prior owners never got it right. The new folks run a tight ship. Serve great food and know how to take care of people. Glad someone came in who knows how to get the job done!!! read more

Finally found a great spot with great food especially their burgers. I tried the Damn it's Hot burger and it was . The flavors were great but I couldn't truly enjoy the burger because the hotness. Cooked to perfection but I'd recommend a different burger if you want to enjoy all the flavors instead downing water with every bite ha.....Definitely recommend, also was very family friendly.... read more

My original review of this place was way too unfair. I let my emotions get the better of me that day and based my whole review on just one little mistake, rather than the whole experience. Shame on me for that. But I guess if, deep down, I didn't really care about this place, something so minor as the incident I described would never have bothered me so much. But because it offered such great potential, I guess I was hoping for perfection. You see, my favorite Rib place, for well over a decade, is no longer as great as they once were. That put me in the market for a new favorite. And after tasting the Ribs from Backroads on my very first visit there, they certainly qualified. So, after about a month of being stubborn, I finally figured I'd go back and try them again soon. But on very day I made that decision and decided to update this review (today), Backroads dropped Ribs from their menu. Well, that's about the kind of luck I've been having lately. But Dave, thanks for the kind comment on my previous review. And thanks for having given me the opportunity to try the Ribs (I saved half for the next day & enjoyed them immensely). If you ever decide to bring back Ribs, even maybe on a slow day as a weekly special or something, I would really love to have them again. read more

We went for the first time over the weekend. The burgers were FANTASTIC, and the service was fast and friendly. We were able to sit outside on a pretty warm day, and the patio was both shaded and had misters going. It was very nice. After ordering the house bourbon (which was pretty good), the waitress let me sample the BBQ bourbon, which really did taste like barbecue sauce! I'm not sure exactly what to mix it with, and a shot of BBQ sauce seems a little extreme, but it met the hype. One warning - the "dam this is hot" burger doesn't just have a clever name. You'll want to follow it up with ice cream! read more

Very friendly service and great patio! Had a side Chicken Caesar salad with a few ice cold beers. Definitely will be back. read more

This is a fun bar food type restaurant and the food is great. We were seated fast and our servers were friendly and very welcoming.

The food is always amazing. I had the shroomer burger and broccoli; their broccoli is the best around. Plus, it's always nice coming to a place where the bartender, Heather, remembers your order. read more

I have to update my review especially after my take-out order today 7/9/19. The lady that answered the phone was very nice- I think her name was Sharon? She asked what I wanted, repeated my order, and acted like she cared that I was choosing Backroads for my lunch option. When I arrived, she showed me that everything was correct. I've ordered from them before and had fries instead of rice, no pickle and so on so I was impressed w/ her desire to make sure it was right. I ordered the Arse, cooked well, with swiss, sauerkraut, 1000 island on the side, lettuce, tomato, onion, on a pretzel bun w/ a side of rice and a pickle spear. It was freakin delicious! They do burgers right. Their rice is sooo good too. This is what I will always order. If you're picking up take-out, park in the back and use that entrance. read more

Love this place!!! I've been here a few times and frequently get food to go and they have so many delicious options. The burger list is huge and I've heard great things about them even though I haven't tried one yet (I just like other things more than burgers). The fish & chips are BOMB and their French fries & tater tots are top tier which is important for me lol. My husband and I went last night for "singo" for the first time. They play 45 seconds of a song and if you have the title on your bingo board you mark it off. It was SO much fun. And I won a free piece of cheesecake as a prize so that was nice! I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap which was just okay. I think it would've been a little better if I got it with crispy chicken instead of shredded. My husband ordered the Cobb salad which is always really good and their portions sizes are generous. Service was great and we can't wait to make singo a regular outing! read more
