Sweet Tea was THE BEST! The loaded potato I ordered was very yummy though the chicken was slightly dry. The breast quarter I ordered had definitely been sitting there away as it was very dry as well! Overall, everything had a good flavor. I think maybe I just went at the wrong time. read more

What a disappointment. Okay, i get the whole covid scam. And I appreciate they were even open. But...that is no excuse for such bad service and taking full value money for COLD food! I mean, come on. Hot food was expected, especially at those prices. Warm food, meh,...okay...given the circumstances. But cold food...bad business all around. Now, continuing, the girls behind the counter were, at best, being snippy, dipping a couple times into the clear realm of rudeness. All we asked for was a little extra sour cream for our COLD baked potato. You would have thought we just asked for a lock of her hair for a Satanic ceremony! On the plus side, the pulled pork was tasty, though a bit dry. The baked beans were great. Having them served hot, or at least warm, would have firmly landed them in the awesome catagory. Overall, our experience was shameful for that store management and should be addressed at the very next company owners meeting. I have been to this place about 8 times in the last six years. It's really just okay. I find the pulled pork inconsistent. Sometimes it is good, but it is often be quite dry. The brisket is often dry. The fries are just okay. My kids don't mind the place so we go every once in awhile. If you're looking for great barbecue, this isn't the place that should come to mind first. An upside is that they have drive thru combos to take home. Downside of that is that they limit the sides one can get if you get don't get the smallest family pack. Yes, you can't get fries. Bizarre. When they told me I had to spend an extra $10 to get the fries, I left. I keep thinking that at some point they'll stop phoning it in and serve a decent product. Swept through Jackson heading east on a Sunday after striking out for BBQ in Memphis. I'll never understand a state where most of the best BBQ joints are closed on Sunday. It's like there's a commandment in Tennessee that states: "Thall shalt not consume swine on the Lord's day." But I digress... Backyard BBQ seems to be a local chain that does gang-buster business on Sundays. Why? You guessed it...most of their competition is closed. Regardless, I got a huge plate of pork ribs, sides, and a drink for $16.00. Can you beat that? Not where I'm from. The sides were excellent. The ribs were perfectly smoked and wonderfully tender. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side for my taste, but then I'm used to the punch of Texas BBQ sauce. Nonetheless, the BBQ was good, and I was grateful. read more

Got a half rack of pork ribs. Well cooked, nice sticky-sweet bbq sauce. Kind of a small portion, but I think it was only $11 with two sides and bread. Got the green beens and potato salad, Neither of which were that great. Note to self - stay away from potato salad anywhere south of Pennyslvania. Seriously. I actually really like this place, but I always get the BBQ chicken baked potato (so not really BBQ) It is delicious and anytime I am in Jackson I try to stop by and get it. The onion loaf is also good, but very greasy. Friendly people who work here. It is kind of a generic BBQ place decor wise, but for me, it's solid. Good for big groups and families too! No way!!!! I wish I could give no stars for awful service! They had wrong advertising as far as a senior citizen discount. It's advertised on their website. After speaking with the manager on duty they said it was the owners decision not to give senior citizen discounts because of the Times! We are trying to give business to a restaurant and they do this to customers not good customer service at all definitely don't waste your time going here! The brisket was pulled and not bad. The chicken had a great smoky flavor but it was dry. I really liked the sauce though. Baked beans were very good. Coleslaw was not. Dined here several times. The food is decent, not bad, but nothing to write home about. I've had the pulled pick and smoked turkey. The slaw is good and the fries are always hot.
