Great service & food! We'll be back for sure. The menu is varied & bartender/server Nikki was positively delightful.

The next table was too small for the 4 of us to eat comfortably without constantly bumping elbows. Finally, got a good seat, it was fairly warm, and room to move. The lighting was so dim, it made it difficult to read the menu. We were having to use the flashlights on our phones for lighting. The waiter seated us and then I guess he went on dinner break because we sat there for quite a bit waiting to at least order drinks. Or maybe it was just him covering the whole restaurant, I dunno, but I know we sat and waited. When he returned, we ordered drinks, and dinner as we didn't want to go through that wait again. I had never eaten at the Lobster Trap before, so I was looking forward to eating here, as being from the area, I know it's been around since I moved to the area in the early 80's. And by the looks of the place, that's the last time it went thru any kind of decor update. (I'm not being rude, just honest, but I'm sure if I'm wrong, u die hards will correct me). Sadly, I was disappointed with the whole shebang. The atmosphere, the food, the waiter, none of it made me feel like I couldn't wait to come back. I was sooooo hoping that this would be a valley jewel, "a must" to eat at again and again. For a meal that's going to cost you at least 75$ ( I don't drink alcohol) ,and a desire to take home the leftovers, you may want to skip The Lobster Trap.

I should have known better, though. What we got: - Lobster roll flight - Fried clams dinner The lobster roll flight is served as an appetizer and doesn't come with any sides. It was lobster prepared 3 ways. Classic butter, wine sauce, and a jalapeño mayo. The classic was good, the wine sauce was bad, and the jalapeño mayo overwhelmed the lobster flavor. It would be better as a classic mayo with a drizzle of the jalapeño sauce. In all 3, the lobster was overcooked and the portion was small. The fried clams were delicious. About 9 or 10 in total. A big portion of fries and two small hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious. But for $30, the price is too high for what you get. The server was friendly, but her energy was off-putting. She was very erratic, made sure to mention that they had drinks on the menu, and then proceeded to give a detailed list of every alcoholic beverage they had. We came in for lunch, on a Wednesday, and weren't looking to drink; her energy just didn't match the energy of the room. When we said we were just going to have water. She exclaimed "FANTASTIC, LOVE THAT!" and then rushed off. Surf Shack was a hit and a miss. But more of a miss. For $75, 1 app, 1 entree, and water. The price is outrageous for what you get.

It's rustic and unique. Pleasant owners. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The main dining area has bench type seating. I'd prefer individual tables, but it's comfortable. There is comfortable table seating and seating at the bar in the bar area. They have a good selection of bottled beer. No draft beer. Bummer, eh! They really need to get draft beer. The menu has a small selection to choose from and it is a little expensive but the quality is really good and worth the price. Good burgers featuring, of course, the Errol Burger. Good stuff. They feature chicken, steak and sea food for dinner. Bring the family! Their specialty, at least from my perspective, is their pizza. Way good. I mean way, way good! You can build your own or choose one of their specialty pizzas. Oh yeah! I'd be remiss if I did not mention Big Al's wait staff. They are friendly, efficient and cute. Give your waitress a good tip! Big Al's is a good 4-star rating. The 5th star will come when they get draft beer.

The bartender/waitress was very welcoming and took our drink order right away. She showed us the specials and recommended the fish fry. We ordered fish fries and they came out hot and looked amazing! The fish was in chunks and breaded but was really tasty. Served with coleslaw and fries. I got onion rings instead of fries. Crispy and hot. Delicious and very filling! We both had dessert- I had a chocolate sundae which was the perfect size. My husband had a wonderful caramel cheesecake. He said it was creamy and very good. The only down side was the cost of lunch. It was pricy! We literally spent as much on dinner the night before. All in all it was a nice lunch but was surprised by the cost.
