Second visit and not really up to the level of the first time. I got the BBQ pulled pork and it was pretty good but my wife got the cheeseburger grinder which was poor, dry and overcooked. The place was pretty busy so that's probably why is was tough to get our servers attention. It's a great atmosphere with pretty good food. I got the steak quesadilla and it was very good but it was an appetizer that was 17 dollars. The place is a little on the expensive side. Then my cousin got fries that were browned but not even cooked. So he obviously couldn't eat them. They are obviously swamped with people and there was a 45 minute wait and then another 45 to get the food. Overall it's a good place but I feel that there are better options. read more

We were out snowmobiling it got hungry and thought where can we go? Talked to a guy on the side of the trail (Jim), and he said why don't you go to the Buck Rub, then we followed him there and bought Jim a beer or two. Service was fantastic, from the more mature petite lady who seemed like she might be the owner, to the young attractive blond lady who was actually our waitress, (sorry I didn't get either ladies name). The food was great, three of us had burgers that were really cooked like we asked, my wife had the fish sandwich which she said was very good the draft beer was awesome. Couldn't really ask for anymore from a pub, especially considering that you can ride right up to it on your sled. We'll be back for sure! read more

I used to love going to the Buck Rub Pub anytime I am up in Pittsburg snowmobiling. Four of us went in today after a good day of riding and had the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my 42 years on earth. The hostess asked me how many people, in my party, and when I told him 4, he ran away without verbally saying anything else and seated just me (ok, not bad, happy to be seated fast, but super odd interaction as I was the only 1 in my party ready to be seated and the rest of my party had to find me. Once the rest of my party found me we had to wait a bit for the worst waitress EVER. (Grumpy blonde girl) When I asked her what beers they had on draft she rudely said "I have no idea" and told me to look at the list on the table. OK.. Sorry for inconveniencing you... When my buddy ordered Nachos, he asked if he could get it with ground beef instead of chicken and she rudely said "NO, they only come with chicken" He then asked her not to put jalapeno peppers on the nachos she rudely said "Read the menu, the nachos do not have jalapeno peppers" (with an attitude). When the nachos finally came out the were terrible. It looked like someone dumped half a bag of Tostito's on a plate and sprinkled two pieces of ground chicken and 3 shreds of cheddar on them.) Hard pass on the nachos, whatever you do. My father asked how much a side of onion rings cost, and she rudely said "I dont know, find it on the menu" When we asked for water, she never brought it, my father asks again and she gave him a death store. soooo sorry to ask you to do your job... None of this attitude was provoked, and it wasn't her joking around, either. We are a group of 40-70-year-olds, so not a bunch of young azzholes coming in to drink cheap beer and tip poorly. She needs to find a new job, she was unpleasant from the first question we asked. Acting like we were an inconvenience to her by trying to buy food from this establishment I will be taking a break on visiting this establishment until the service improves. Been here many times and the food always been good but not this time. We ordered steak tips, they were very tough and chewy and inedible. We told the waitress about the tough steak tips and she just looked at us and said nothing and walked away. However we did take the steak tips home so we could feed them to the dog. read more

we stopped in for a bite while snowmobiling and it did not disappoint. it's a wicked cute place and, despite being full, our table of nine were seated pretty quickly. although the service was relatively quick, i will say that our waitress was not the kindest and just seemed irritated the entire time. but regardless! the drinks were good - i ordered a buck pub punch and a strawberries and cream martini (valentine's day special). and the food was amazing, my sandwich was HUGE and delicious, and the curly fries (dipped in their buck sauce) were the way to go. would definitely come back, it was worth the hype! read more

Every time we come up to Pittsburg we have to go to Buck Rub Pub, it's so fun. Great atmosphere, people watching and talking. Fried chicken, burgers, salads, all great. We arrived and were ignored by the "hostess" who was on the phone filling a take out oder so I'll give her a pass. There is no sign indicating that you need to wait to be seated. Therefore, we went in the dining area and were reprimanded by a waitress for not checking in with the hostess. She was nothing short of rude. If we weren't so hungry and considering that they were the only ones opened the night before Thanksgiving, we would have turned around and left. Most people canceled their vacations because of Covid-19. Of course, it would have been awesome to make my annual trek to Europe, but it was not to be. This year had me vacationing closer to home. I drove to the northern part of my state to investigate the hiking trails that are north of the Presidential Range and I was not disappointed. The only meal I enjoyed that was not cooked on my Coleman stove was the pizza I got at The Buck Rub in Pittsburg. And it was amazing! I had driven north through Pittsburg nearly every day of the week as I hiked the many trails in the area. Magalloway, Garfield Falls, 4th Connecticut Lake Trail, Falls in the River Trail and more. Every day, as I drove up and back down Route 3, I noticed what looked to be a restaurant. Unfortunately, the most obvious sign on the front of the building, visible to a passing driver on Route 3, says "CLOSED." I am adding a photo so you can see what I, as a passing driver, saw. Well, would you believe, after several days of hiking, I decided to take a closer look. If you drive up the driveway of The Buck Rub and read the fine print at the very bottom of the sign, the sign claims that they are closed... on Monday and Tuesday. They are open on the rest of the days! The sign with the gigantic word "CLOSED" on the front of the building can't be helping business at all!.... shakes my head... Fortunately for me, I read the fine print and went inside. It was difficult to find the entrance to the building, which is at the front, when parking is on the side. Once inside, I was greeted by the aroma of freshly baking pizza and all manner of tasty foods! Hannah greeted me and helped me with my order. After a week in the woods, a pizza surely would hit the spot. I ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza, the larger size, since I planned to have leftovers. Hannah directed me to wait in the bar, or in the lobby area. In no time at all, my pizza was ready. Hot, steaming, and delicious, loaded with toppings. I brought it to the cabin I had rented at Lopstick- another fine establishment in the north country, and I ate my fill. It was perhaps the best pizza I have ever had. Loaded with cheese, yummy sausage, and mushrooms. I saved three slices of leftovers, which I heated up in my backcountry campsite in the wilderness, the following evening. It was every bit as tasty as when it was freshly made. I cannot recommend The Buck Rub enough! From the friendly service (Hannah) to the delicious food, it was exactly what I wanted when I spent a week hiking in the north country. I shudder to think of how many people, (I could have been one of them!) drive by, thinking the place is closed because of the giant misleading CLOSED sign on the front of the building. We stopped in for a bite before heading up Moose Alley. We both got a flatbread. I got the Buckin' Works with no mushrooms and he got the Bug Mac Buckin' Trucker with no lettuce. Hostess, did not seem glad to see us, but we were seated immediately. Waitress was good, prompt, didn't hover and seemed to care about our experience, but did not offer to fix anything when I told her the chicken tasted burnt. We ordered potato skins for an appetizer they were excellent. We ordered chicken tenders for one dinner and the Famous Buck Rub Half Chicken for the other. Chicken Tenders were good. Fries on both plates were dark, soggy, either not cooked Hot enough or the oil was old. Half Chicken was deep fried and apparently in the same oil. The breading tasted burnt. The coleslaw was dry. The Buck Rub has a great look and feel to it sadly the food has slipped. We have been coming to Pittsburg for probably 8 years and when we first came the food was first rate. Last year and this year have been a disappointment. read more

We disagreed and asked her to stop, she was joined by another server who made it clear we couldn't have private political discussions unless they agreed. Live free or die has no place there. It was a snowy Tuesday evening and there were no restaurants open in Colebrook. (No real restaurants) I called and the Buck Rub was open but it was a 15mile drive from where I was. I decided to head up and see what happens. Buck Rub has a rustic lodge feel to it and caters to the snowmobiling crowd in the winter it seems. (Which is cool since I love to snowmobile as well) Stood around and waited a while to get seated... once seated my drink orders were taken fast and courteously. I had some kick-ass clam chowder and chicken parmigiana over linguine along with some draft bear and some whiskey. The food was top notch... excellent and the drinks were generous. When I am back up in the North Country, I will make a point of stopping here again. Highly recommended. And seriously... the clam chowder was really good! read more

Went to Buck Rub the other night. There was 6 of us and a baby. Three of us ordered the seafood casserole which we have been ordering every year for probably ten years when we've been vacationing in Pittsburg and it was always delicious. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed...the fish, scallops and shrimp were over cooked and very dry and there was very little cream sauce. One other of our party ordered a medium well burger and it came out overdone to the point of being blackened so much he didn't want to eat it. Buck Rub was always a highlight of our stay in Pittsburg and now after a $200.00 bill and disappointing food, I'm not sure we will go back another year. read more

Bar has a great beer selection from tap to bottle-HUGE, Creative cocktails, with a giant top shelf and mid bar choice selection. Never have asked for something and they haven't had it.. *FUN FACT: BRB is the only place open late in the area. LOVE IT!! read more

One of two places we visited for dinner in Clarksville and this one was definitely the better. Prices we were a bit high but the food and portions were okay to good. Nothing really stood out as excellent but nothing was bad either. Wait staff was okay and had to be asked a couple times for different things - like refills. Drinks were perfect, coconut cream pie was delicious, and the price was right. Definitely making this part of our yearly trip and may add an extra visit or two! This place is great, they have a large variety of pub grub and I use that as a term of endearment. I've spent many weekends crossing the border illegally via snowmobile and when I feel like filling up after I'm done, this place never disappoints. I recently went there with my son during the week because he chose to spend spring break with his dad instead of sunny Florida or Mexico. We had some tasty apps, mozz sticks, chicken quesadillas and a burger. Everything was on point and about $40. I have been here when the line is out the door during peak snowmobiling season and they do a hell of a good job to keep it moving. Oh the have arcade machines to keep people busy, a full bar and an extensive pie dessert menu. The food is absolutely great. But I do not appreciate the poooor customer service. Called here on 6/24 to get food, and they answered and put the phone down and ignored me. Then I tried calling back and the phone was off the hook, so I showed up and ordered. Husband and I got poor attitudes cause it was close to closing time. Tried again tonight 6/25 to get food over the phone, tried starting at 7pm until 9:10pm and the phone was still off the hook cause they don't wanna serve people, I guess. Very disappointed with how we were dealt with. read more

The Buck Rub has the best steak and cheese sub in the world. Have it with jalapenos and onions. The staff is friendly and if you eat outside you can bring your well behaved dog. The beers are cold. It is my favorite place to eat when I am in the north country! read more
