If there was a rating of "no stars" I would post it. Same story as all the others...sounded great, came out promptly, said the movement needed to be replaced. Did that and said "to allow a week or so for the chimes and clock to work properly". Numerous messages on his phone with no return call. Very upset about this! read more

Jimmy came out and charged me several hundred dollars to put a new movement in my grandfather clock. His work and warranty was guaranteed for a year. Clock stopped working after 6 months. I called multiple times and set up appointments and scheduled my life to be home for appointments. He was a no show 5 times and finally was past the warranty period. I finally gave up and contacted another clock repair man and he ordered the defective piece and had my clock repaired within 3 weeks. So bottom line - this company does warranty their work but totally blows you off if you call to get warranty service. I'm considering taking him to small claims court but not sure I want to waste any more of my time on this scammer read more

I reached out to Jimmy (James) Hicks back in July 2024 to service my 40+ year old grandfather clock as the pulleys were squeaking a bit when they were being wound up. Jimmy showed up at my house and spent about 2 minutes looking at my clock and said I needed a new movement (the interior motor of the clock) since I had not properly maintained the clock. (??) The cost...$1800 and change. He said the part needed to be ordered from Germany and it would take about 2 weeks to arrive. He required 1/2 down and the other 1/2 when the part came in and was installed. Since this clock is very sentimental to me and I wanted to ensure that it runs properly for another 40+ years, I agreed to the repair. Fast forward, less than a week later Jimmy called and said the part was in and so we rescheduled another visit for the installation. He arrived and took the clock apart and installed the new movement. He advised there was a 1 yr warranty on parts and service, so if I needed anything to call and he would come back out. As he was leaving, he asked if I could post a positive review about his services online. He said he had an unhappy customer about a year ago who had posted a negative review that almost put him out of business. Shortly after Jimmy left, I noticed 3 numbers were missing from the moon dial. His response was that those fall off all the time on old clocks, but he did not offer to repair or replace. They were there before he took the clock apart and missing after he was done. I found 2 of the numbers, but never located the 3rd. I've come to find out that these cannot be simply ordered and replaced. 3 months later in October 2024, the middle weight that operates the pendulum began tightening up during the winding process. I called Jimmy to schedule him to come out and assess the issue and he advised he would come by before the end of the day. The day came and went and he no showed, no called the appointment. Many messages later, he finally came out about 2 weeks later only to blame us for winding the clock wrong (seriously?!) and to let the 3 weights go all the way down and the issue would correct itself. Incorrect. That definitely did not solve the problem, so back to chasing Jimmy down to schedule another appointment. After getting the run-around for another week or so, I called another REPUTABLE clock repair company who came out and actually fixed the issue. All they needed to do was to oil the coil and voila! Bottom line: I would NEVER allow Jimmy Hicks back into my home or to touch my clock ever again! Read the online reviews and listen to them! This guy will say anything to get your money and will never follow through to fix your clock. Many customer have filed police reports against this company/owner, but to no avail. Run! read more

This guy is a con man! Had him come over to service a clock that wasn't chiming. He spent a total of 10 minutes at the house, cashed the check and now he won't return any calls. Wish I had read the reviews before I called him. read more

I have a 30 year old wall clock that I received as a gift. The clock started to show it's age by irregular chimes. I contacted James hicks, he came to my house the day I called him. He looked at my clock , diagnosed the problems and repaired it. The costs of the repair was was reasonable considering the value of the clock. He was very easy to work with and up front with all aspects of the repair process. He also gave me advise on maintenance techniques to keep the clock operational for the next 20 years. read more

I contacted Mr. Hicks and he came to my home on April 3, 2025 to pick up a mantel clock that needed to be repaired. He took my deposit, sent me a receipt and I have not heard from him since, after multiple attempts to call and email him. If anyone knows how to reach him, please let me know. The number I had is now not working, the new number on the updated website says the voicemail box has not been setup and no messages to his email have been successful. I just want my clock and deposit back. The clock is a family keepsake. Very disgusted. read more

Back in Time Clock Repair Cash, no warranty, WILL NOT RETURN CALLS Called Back in Time Clock Repair on December 16, 2019 for maintenance of my Howard Miller grandfather clock and the owner came out within 2 hours. His business card had his name, phone number (469) 502-0590 (Grand Prairie 75053), email address Jimmy.Hicks17@aol.com, but no physical address. He said that he had been repairing clocks for over 25 years. He wanted cash for repairing the clock. After he left, the clock no longer chimes at the correct hour. I have called and texted him about the problem. At first, he said that he would come back to repair the clock, but now I believe that he has blocked my calls and texts. I have sent emails, but he will no longer responds to them as well. It is 2/19/2020 and I will have to call someone else to fix the clock now. I am not a happy camper! read more
