The pie, oh my. For once I am not talking pizza. This place has all kinds of beautiful sweets but their pies are just wonderful. Reluctantly sharing with you that the key lime pie is perfectly tart, great filling (not gelatin consistency like whole foods and melts between your tongue and the roof of your mouth), a knock out hearty graham cracker crust (Sylvester Graham would be so proud) and a bit of whipped cream to balance the pucker - if you need to but I put it aside for my guests. This place also has sugar free options and a whole bunch of baked goodies to choose from. Holding up to its name, this is behind beyond bread and has a separate entrance. However beyond bread also has a display case with some of the heavy hitters - tiramisu, anyone? - and their sandwiches are also fantastic with opportunity to kill two appetites with one visit. Make sure to hit this place up earlier in the day because fresh baked daily means the early bird gets the pie. read more

Wow, how am I just learning of this place! I was having lunch with my Dad (who LOVES pie) and we just happened to spot this place. Walked in and pies galore! From fruit/dessert pies to pot pies to quiche, this place is pie heaven. It was clear by the lines inside this place is popular. I asked a lady what she liked best and she told me to go for the chicken pot pie. So I did. That along with the cranberry apple and strawberry rhubarb pies, to go. They are mini pies, not full size. I have been a regular customer of Beyond Bread for many yrs & love their desserts. Yesterday a friend and I lunched at their Wilmot location & afterward stopped @BackDough to get some take-out items. She loved her lemon meringue pie and I enjoyed my peanut and Kalua cheesecake. However, even tho the turkey pot pie had a tasty, flaky crust and a nice filling, where was the turkey?? Amazing variety of pies! We picked up two different pies last Christmas. I don't even remember which flavors we got (one of them may have been key lime) but I recall them being delicious and a hit with our out-of-town guests! I really like that their pies are a "medium" size - perfect for a small dinner party of about 4 people. That way, we can also buy more pies to try different flavors! Will definitely make it a personal gourmand mission to try most, if not all, of their pies ;-) read more

These pies are pretty mediocre. I got the sour cream cherry pie and the strawberry rhubarb pie. The sour cream cherry pie was just tons of cream with like 5 cherries in the whole thing. Very disappointing. The strawberry rhubarb pie was better but didn't taste like they used fresh ingredients. The rhubarb taste was a bit off. Overall, I wasn't very impressed and probably won't come back. I could make better pies on my own. read more

I haven't tried their foods so this review isn't for the foods. It's for customer service. Owner-please train your employees to treat EVERYONE with respect and patience! I am deaf and when I gestured I couldn't hear your employee STILL spoke even though after I informed her by gesture that I am deaf. She had an attitude of annoyance EVERYTIME I ask her a question nicely through text note on my phone. Apparently she doesn't want to write down answer every time. When paying by credit card the tips part came up. I gave her tips even though I could have chosen not to based on her customer service behavior. I am anxious to try the foods and see if the foods are worth the trip based by other good Yelp reviews. read more

This is a very interesting little place. Guess it is takeout only and small. My wife suggested it for pot pies. So I went and got them. They offer chicken, turkey, or beef. She has chicken while I the turkey. You order online or walk in like I did. Tate home your order and bake them. They are on the large side for pot pies and are very tasty. Lots of meat and veggies. The crust is very flaky and yummy. They have a very large selection of pastries also. I think this one is a keeper. read more

Hate to be the guy that writes a bad review during hard times. However, I feel that after having paid money. I reserve the right to write my review. Pies are good. Not the best, but definitely beats the grocery stores. My one star review is for this reason - unsanitary practice. The baker/clerk who handled my pies touched the crust of the pies that I selected without having washed her hands/ wearing gloves. In addition, she had scratched her eye - then proceeded to place the stickers on the pie box. Disgusting. Wish they would focus more on sanitation practices during covid. read more

What a find! If you drive along Wilmot Road, you can easily miss Back Dough. Tucked in the back corner behind Beyond Bread, Back Dough is a quaint pie shop. It's related to Beyond Bread, so you know you're getting tasty treats with quality ingredients. Most of their individual-sized pies sell for a little less or more than $6. They have both sweet and savory pies, such as chicken pot pie, apple pie, blueberry pie, and pumpkin pie. There are some specialty season pies, like pumpkin cheesecake pie in the Fall. I came in one afternoon and purchased their strawberry-rhubarb and chicken pot pie. Both delicious! They provide you with heating instructions for their pot pies and quiches, which is very helpful when you get home. The fillings were well seasoned in the chicken pot pie and the crust was light and flaky. The strawberry rhubarb pie was amazing! Not too sweet, and perfectly fulfilled my sweeth tooth. It was a great find, especially since not a lot of places sell strawberry rhubarb pie frequently. Each pie is boxed individually and they will place it in a paper bag with a complementary free cornbread muffin, which is also delicious! If you're looking to try different flavors without having to purchase a gigantic pie at Costco or the grocery store, this is the place to go! You can easily share it between 2 people as a nice dessert at the end of dinner, or indulge and have one all to yourself. One pot pie can feed a person for both lunch and dinner. The pot pies and quiche are amazing. It's a complete meal for $7.99. Plenty of chicken and vegetables in the pot pie and the spinach and ham quiche was full of meat. My first time trying Back Dough but, it certainly will not be last. The cream and fruit pie's looked wonderful and I'll be sure to try one next time. (Maybe this weekend) read more

Great pies! We bought pumpkin, apple, chocolate peanut butter and pecan pies for Thanksgiving. They were all excellent with very flaky crust and wonderful fillings. The smaller size facilitated having several different flavors. The staff here are very friendly and provide excellent guidance on amount to buy to feed the holiday masses. read more

Diest time and so glad we found this place. Exceptional variety and reasonably priced made from scratch pies. We selected an apple and coconut cream. This are small pies which make it a great size especially if you are at a hotel and don't have much fridge space. They also had three different pot pies. Last minute on a Sunday, we needed dessert. Looked up The Back Dough's hours - great, open until 6 PM! It is now 3:30. I drive down. Walk up to the door and there is a sign saying "Due to a staffing shortage, we will be closing at 4:30". Whew! That was close. It's 3:50. The doors are locked! What? There are two workers in the store. I'm confused. I tap on the glass to get some clarity. The woman behind the counter just ignores me. I tap again. She does not look up. How disrespectful can one be? There were many pies in the display. Was it too much trouble to sell a couple pies 40 minutes before you close? I went elsewhere. I had a huge craving for lemon meringue pie recently. My mother used to make them when we were kids and it is a favorite that I haven't had in years. Theirs is DELICIOUS! The meringue is light and piled high, there is plenty of tangy lemon filling which holds it's form and then runs a bit once cut. And, the filling is tangy not creamy! The crust is flaky and tasty and minimal, as it should be. Yay! I'm so glad these pies are a medium size rather than large because I cannot not eat one all in one sitting. read more

At this sweet gem of a dessert shop you can find perfectly made 6 inch pies of all kinds for about $6 each from cream to fruit to nut or cake. If you would like to be a hit at your potluck or Thanksgiving dinner, pick up several and you can please everyone. There are even sugar free pies! My favorite is the banana cream pie. No sweet tooth?
