I mean it's the Bachelor Forum. I've been going here for at least 14 years now! It's fine just feels like the prices of drinks have gone up and are becoming comparable to the prices in Los Angeles. I went there 17 years ago. It was dark, dingy, and depressing. I just went there again on a Saturday night. The outside looks lovely and quite inviting, but the inside hasn't changed. It's still dark, dingy, and looks unfinished. I entered with two others and while it wasn't busy the bartenders made no attempt to welcome new customers and ask what we would like. Poor business practice and a depressing place to go. We finally just left and went over to Roar. I would like to support it, but in 17 years you'd think they would have done something with the interior. read more

While visiting from out of town I definitely needed to get out and check up on this nightlife. Bachelor forum didn't disappoint, Justin & Andrew are probably the best bartenders I've had, hands down. The space itself is downright enchanting. The inclusive aspect couldn't be hidden, it's rare to walk in and literally feel accepted, they nailed it. I know, I know, I'm a chick at a gay bar, so I might not have the most stellar experience, but here it goes. I like the location, it is a great spot, and a nice building. You can grab a little something at Starry Nights or Edibles and get some drinks after. That's where my biggest issue is. The cocktails were watered down, and presented in smaller than normal plastic cups, you know, like the ones marathon runners grab to take small sips? All I can say is getting a good buzz will feel like a marathon for you and your wallet because the pours were weak. I had at least 4-5 gin and tonics before my friends and I left for a different bar. I met some very nice people inside, mostly silver foxes. So if you are a 20-something gay male seeking a man with more refined taste, I guess you can check this place out. Extra points for clean restrooms and bar top. Park on a side street. If you are bored, go to 140. read more

Yawn. This is the most BORING gay bar EVER with the same old, unfriendly queens the few times we have been. I will say the place is centrally located, clean and not expensive but that is where the positives end. The bar top is made of the most tacky black linoleum flooring- so ugly. I do like that the bar is square and in the middle of the room and you can usually find a seat but the service is TERRIBLE UNLESS THEY KNOW YOU. We always wait WAY TOO long to get served. Hire some young people!!! The bartenders try but not one of them has any personality and we try to engage them but... One day some hip gay person or persons will open a REAL GAY bar in Rochester hopefully, as this town sucks for us queers. read more

This bar is a cool place to hang out if you are in your late twenties or thirties. I like their remodeling and location on University. But, this tends to be a more clique clientele which a person who comes in alone may feel lonely. I love the different flat screen TV screens and ability to request songs through a mobile site. They have a nice 2 for 3 drink program which makes for great drinks before 9pm and $2.50 top shelf on Tuesdays. read more

This place was our second stop during our drinking excursion through Rochester last weekend. We all actually really enjoyed this place. Bartender(can't remember his name younger tall guy) was great, very personable and poured great drinks! It was a Saturday, around dinner time when we stopped in. For every 4 drinks we brought we got 2 free drink coupons(or something like that). The place was really quiet, just a few regulars at the bar, but I guess they get a decent night crowd. We spent a few hours here having drinks, playing pool and darts and just having a good time. As we left the place was starting to fill up a bit more. This place is nothing spectacular to look at, its just a chill, semi divey bar. I wouldn't go here to "turn up" as they say... But if you are just looking for a relaxing time with some friends that could happen here. If you know the buffalo area, you could compare it to a bigger version of Fugazi. From what I could tell crowd seamed to be a bit older, but no problem for me. read more

An exciting local place that brings various people together across communities. Probably the only LGBT bar in town that has it's loyal customer base that comes in after work during the week days and weekends. They have great events usually on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I have never had a bad time there - the place is just full of friendly people of all ages! I go with a group of LGBTQ seniors, once a month and we are treated wonderfully... they set up tables for us, have great drink specials and always provide complimentary pizza. What is not to like? read more

A group of us were in town this past weekend for business and went to the Bachelor Forum on Friday night. Louis, the manager, served us. My first two rounds, I paid for in cash and for my final drink, I paid with a credit card. He suggested we return Saturday night as he said it would be very busy. We came in on Saturday as he suggested and the place was still half empty. Louis waited served us again and this time, I had two drinks and a shot which I put it on my debit card. By the time I got back to my hotel, my bank had already sent me a text asking if I put a charge of almost $200 on my debit card. For a couple of drinks that cost about $5 each??? I sure didn't authorize a charge for that amount. I checked the credit card that I had used on Friday and sure enough, there was a charge on that for almost $175 for 1 drink---I definitely didn't authorize that amount either. The only person who handled my credit card and debit card each night was Louis. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt but is it just sheer coincidence that two different credit cards were overcharged by a huge amount?? My credit card fraud department said that they believe Louis took the liberty of giving himself a huge tip on my credit cards each night because he thought I would be too drunk to notice the discrepancy. So a word to the wise for those who choose to visit this bar when you're in Rochester: don't pay with a credit card and if you're paying with cash, count your change. Most importantly, don't trust the manager, Louis. He is a thief. Better yet, don't patronize this place until the owners replace Louis. There are other gay bars in town that would be happy to have your business without trying to rip you off. read more

I love the Forum. Great, relaxed bar to hang out with friends or meet new ones. I've read the other reviews...the negative ones are ridiculous. Comments about unfriendly gays hanging in packs? An older crowd? I've been to the Forum for years. The owner is a sweetheart, the bartenders are nice and fast, and the remodeling over the last couple years has transformed the place. And the age of the crowd has changed significantly....there's a much younger crowd these days but still mixed, especially on Bar nights....every third Saturday. If you're a plus sized lady looking for a loveless beard marriage, this is the place for you! But you won't be alone, this is a great place for business men to network, at least judging from my recent observations. Many young professional men come here to expand professional networks and let loose. As a single young straight woman visiting this bar I feel like young Peggy in Madmen, looking upon my male peers and wondering- why can't we all be barons of industry?? I don't think they understand beer, as this is a cocktail crowd, because you can get an amazing beer at bargain basement prices. My first time to the Bachelor Forum was for a vigil to honor the victims of the Orlando attack. I was blown away with how amazingly thoughtful and powerful of an event they were able to plan in such short notice. Since then I have been the bar once again and had a really good time while I was there. The bartenders were very attentive, funny, and welcoming. The music and atmosphere were great and all in all I have a really fun time there. My only complaints are that unless you were ordering a shot the drinks seemed a little watered down and were in really small glasses. read more

This leather/neighborhood bar attracts the older/leather/bear crowd. Attendance is spotty during the week. The bartending service needs improvement. Bartenders are too busy socializing with their friends instead of taking care of customers. Even during slow nights which is often during the week! The small community here is full of unfriendly groups that circle together like high school kids. There is not a lot of mingling. Very unwelcoming. I do not recommend. read more

Bachelor4m is a very nice looking bar with exposed beams and tasteful design located in the Arts District. It has a mostly older clientele patronage with a mixture of genders. Ideal attendance is probably on a Saturday if you seek out a more crowded platform. It has a very calm energy with a moderate noise level so is very ideal for conversation engagement. read more

Clearly this is not a place where self-involved mirror-queens (see James S this same page) can go to be surrounded by that narrow range of the gay community known as "pretty boys" (aka: "shaved-ass bottoms"). Rather, come here if you are open-minded enough to meet and talk to a broad range of gay men: you will be amongst a representative and broad range of the community. This bar draws from miles around, especially on bar nights. The Rams Bar Nights are PACKED! Weekday Happy Hours are also fun and less crowded, and the bartenders are experienced (i.e.: not brainless twinks) and treated me well even tho i was new in town and not a regular. This place sucks!!! I will NEVER go here again. Headed over to the bar to grab some drinks with my boyfriend. He made the first attempt to get our drinks from the bartenders, both ignored him and never attempted to pay him any mind. I waited about 20 mins and attempted to get the drinks I waited until the bartender had finished his conversation with an older gentleman seated at the bar. Once the conversation had ended I tried a to ask for a drink and he walked away ! By this point I'm disgusted. I make my last attempt and ask the only other bartender for a sex on the beach and he told me he would get back to me when he "got the time" and l stood there as he cleaned the bar and took other orders and made drinks. I don't know if it was because I was black in a bar generally populated by white men but I can't find any other reason why I was TOTALLY ignored by not one but two bartenders at a bar I've never been to before! It sucks that today I still have to worry about discrimination from my own people as a gay man for being black. DO NOT GO HERE !!! read more
