We had high expectations when my child joined GradePower. Reviews and parent recommendations were…read moreexcellent. Unfortunately, for us, the experience was not great. The first few weeks, my child was provided a workbook that was two grades below him on accident. After they discovered this mistake, they quickly moved him to the correct book. However, GradePower did not notify me of this nor did they attempt to make amends for this error. My child never came home with any workbook or items to review once he left their facility. After several months, I asked that GradePower focus on more of the items that my child struggled with versus the items he was already good at. Alex, the owner, agreed, but then the teachers, I feel, still did what was easiest which was not to challenge my child on the difficult items. I never received any feedback from the teachers directly. Unless I asked my child, I did not know what they were working on at any given time. Alex was always available to discuss my child, which was great. He was professional at all times. The front office person was also always pleasant. I think this program does work for the many who reviewed GradePower with high marks. I also think a student who is eager for additional support, may benefit from this program. Unfortunately for us, overall it was a negative experience. As a last comment: I was also disappointed that GradePower continued to require masks after all mandates at businesses and schools had dropped this requirement. When asked about a timeline for them to be "optional", the response was that it would be a very long time. Alex said if it was up to him, they would never come off.

My daughter took English and Math classes at the Huntington center in 75th st. The English teacher…read more(Patty) was very helpful and encouraging. She got pointers that cannot be had from review books or in a class instruction. One on one instruction works. Got some tips in Math as well although she did not need as much help in that area as she was a PA math student. My son attended 30 plus hours of instruction at Lindamood-Bell Oak Park. I am not convinced that…read morethis is was effective tool for his needs. We spent over $16,000 for the personalized instruction. At that point, we were desperate to assist his academic needs. Some of the instructors were decent, but there was a high turnover rate for staff at this location. One year later, and his reading levels have not improved at all! I think for my son to gain any long term benefits, we would have had to sink $50,000+ of money into this program. That is a financial burden and risk that we are not willing to take! Definitely, not worth the time, program cost and gas money that I put into my car! Currently, we have my son working with a tutor after school for 5 days a week (close to home) and we have spent 1/4 the money. The results have been MUCH better and my son is happier because there is less drive time.

I wanted to update my review...I am leaving the 4 stars because I think the price is outrageous BUT…read moreit really helped our daughter and she LOVED it. Not many places can get a just turned 6 year old to sit and study in an office cubicle for 4 hours a day 5 days a week for 4 weeks during their summer vacation - and love it! I'm very pleased with her progress and it is definitely noticed by her teachers and tutors this school year! I am giving 4 stars bc I have yet to start the program with LMB but I saw the negative review posted here and had to share our experience because it was much different. I have had my daughter (she's 5.5) tested by 5 different professionals in a lot of different areas of expertise (occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, speech pathology, and auditory testing, and LMB in OP) to get to the bottom of why she is behind her kindergarten class in reading. Her school has a pretty intense Kindergarten program so I wanted to at least give her confidence in her ability to catch up to peers. Anyway, I felt the testing at LMB was top notch, and was very thorough with legs to each area. Their test came back with very similar results to other testers (not affiliated with LMB or even in the same state) but their approach to "fixing" my daughter seemed like a clear path over a 4 week period. I didn't feel like I was being sold to at all, I felt like they took the time to truly get to know my daughter (and even requested one more test the following day to gauge her against higher standards bc of her expectations at her school). I would not even be considering paying their fees if I didn't feel like Sierra (the director) and her crew hadn't spent the time with my daughter and actually had solid feedback. In addition, their findings mirrored what the other specialists found as well so it reaffirmed my gut instinct. It's not a cheap place but from talking with other professionals I know they yield proven results. I'm willing to try it this summer and will update my review once we go through it. I just didn't want people to be totally scared off by the unfortunate experience the other reviewer had. It's a frustrating and emotional journey when you're worried about how to help your child, and I would still consider LMB to help even if it's just their testing (which is WAY less expensive than the other testing we did! The actual program is what is pricy).

When our child wanted to go back to public school for high school our district of residence (k-8) was adamant about not complying with direct guidance from the Illinois State board of education regarding eligibility of service. Brandon steped in, and finally, I felt less alone, more heard, more informed. It is a shame we need to hire someone to force public schools to provide for their students, but a blessing that people like Brandon exist. We highly recommend anyone trying to navigate student services get a consultation with Brandon.

They have big spaces outside for kids too. In the summer, they have a lot of fun, like foam parties, bounce houses and even Kona Ice! They learn ALOT . The teachers make the children interested and they want to participate in learning. My daughter had a big problem with communication, because she only spoke Polish, she was very sad that no one understood her. The teachers were very understanding and calmly explained everything to her and most importantly had a lot of patience. My younger child had difficulty with potty training. She did not want to do it. I tried so many times at home to teach her, but she didn't want to. Ms.Elizabeth helped me a lot in teaching her to use the toilet. She approached it calmly and asked me to give her some more time and not to push her and she was right!! Now she doesn't wear diapers anymore. I'm so thankful. If there is ever a problem, I can say that the director of the center immediately looks for the best solution for the children.
