After speaking with the director after my last rating and being told that my daughter was CLEARY not understanding the basics of 1st grade and she needed 6 hours of help a week....I told the director this program was not for her. I was indirectly called an idiot. The director is awful and this program just is NOT for everyone. We started our daughter here at the end of second grade - she was in need of extra reading and math help. Their services mad a world of difference in her life. She improved in both areas, and she continues to learn new ways to learn information in a way that works for her. We will forever be thankful that we found Huntington. read more

Their website states that they avg SAT score improvement of 229. They recommended intense 8 hr/week tutoring/week-- 4 math and 4 Eng. The lady that signed us up said it would be $6500. When we agreed to pay upfront, she knocked it down to $6000. This was for 82 hours, which we did not add up originally-- we didn't even have enough time to get that many hours in at 8hrs/week before the Oct 1st test. Once we realized this and told them such (they never mentioned it to us), they said we could just increase the # of hours for more intense training during the last couple of weeks. Really-- more than 8 hours of tutoring on top of full time school and any other life living events? My child's brain was mush at the end-- with just the 8 hrs/week. They say it is specialized training-- I disagree. They no more analyzed where my child needed specific help than they were actually able to help my child. They simply had my child take an SAT initially and then went off of that-- that was pretty much their analyzation of abilities. The first math tutor talked over my child, so we asked for a new one. The second math tutor went too slow for my child, at one point stating that she would have to help him at the next session because she did not know the answer to one of the problems because she did not have the answer key. No one ever explained that the child needed to set the pace (of course we did once we discovered the problem). The crew at the office expected this 17 year old to offer feedback on his tutors. Most young persons would just be nice and state that everything was fine-- not wanting to get anyone in trouble, which was the case here. We had to set up meetings with the staff to inform them, as they never tried to contact us. The lady who originally signed us up who said she checked in with all of the students after each session was no where to be found after signing us up (they said she got sick), which made things worse, as the girl that was left said everything got left to her and she could not keep up. We went in and had a few discussions with the office gal. Things did not get better. After my child retook the SAT, he scored 20 points higher than the original score. They built built up my child and said the goal could be achieved. The goal was not achieved and fell 80 points shy-- all we were looking for was about a 100 point increase in score. We were unsuccessful. They did not deliver for us. We are still trying to get a refund for the # of hours unused. We did have a meeting at the end with the owner and staff and discussed with them. Their solution was more training with their tutors-- more of the same which had already been proven not to work with this child. How is that for analyzing each situation and child?! They said they are not about the money-- If that is truly the case, then I challenge them to back this up-- if children don't achieve their goals, then all monies are refunded. If that is the case, then it is truly not about the money. But, good luck with that! It may just be me, but $6000 for a 20 point SAT score increase is not a success story. read more

My daughter took English and Math classes at the Huntington center in 75th st. The English teacher (Patty) was very helpful and encouraging. She got pointers that cannot be had from review books or in a class instruction. One on one instruction works. Got some tips in Math as well although she did not need as much help in that area as she was a PA math student. We switched to more English classes than math half easy thru and the center was quite accommodating. My daughter's scores improved more than we had hoped for. Worth the investment. read more

I very highly recommend Huntington for ACT/SAT tutoring!! My daughter had a great experience with her ACT tutoring 3 years ago, so naturally we returned to the center when my son was needing prep for his college exam prep. From the very start, the service was again exceptional. Alex met with us and spent time tailoring an individualized tutor program based on my son's relative strengths and areas needing improvement. Based on a pretest exam, Alex recommended that my son focus on the SAT to optimize his chances for success. My son worked with Matt for math and Kyle for reading/writing. The tutoring was exceptional in every regard. The entire Huntington team was responsive, dedicated, caring and very focused on my son's success. Both the tutoring and my son's actual score on the SAT (taken after he completed tutoring) exceeded our expectations!! My son had set a very high goal for himself based on his desire to attend an elite college and he ended up bettering that score by 20 points! read more

My daughter completed ACT prep private tutoring in both math and English, which cost a very significant amount of money. Their advertising claims your child will see a significant increase in their ACT score. The director said a two point gain would be realistic. However, my daughter's ACT score decreased. They don't warn you that it could decrease. Then she retook it again and scored the same as before she began tutoring. It was such a waste of time and money for us - so disappointing. My daughter says that they train the kids to manage time with their timer; however, when she took a digital watch to exam, it was much harder to manage time with a different timepiece than what she practiced with. I don't typically write many reviews but I just want to say that Kim did a great job working with my son on scheduling his sessions with Tim and Joe. My son took a baseline test at Huntington and after some sessions with Tim and Joe took the ACT and increased his composite score! He scored a 34 on English and 33 on Math! He plans on taking the ACT a second time because he knows he can do better!! Great job Kim, Tim and Joe!! read more

We've had a very positive experience with Huntington Learning Center in Naperville (75th street).   Our needs have been a bit unique and I am very appreciative of the flexibility and willingness of the center to help target the tutoring to maximize our time and gain the most value from the process.  I appreciate Kim's (Director of Exam Prep Services) knowledge of the testing process and the cqpabilities and personalities of her tutoring staff, as well as her helpful nature throughout.  The tutors have been knowledgeable and helpful in testing strategy, identifying areas of improvement and efficient instruction.  We are thrilled with the results for our eldest child and plan to work with Huntington for the needs of our two younger children when their time comes. read more

Our Huntington experience was fantastic! Our son's score improved 7 points on the first ACT he took right after completing their comprehensive program. We loved working with Kim and she did a great job pairing our son with the right teachers. We will certainly use them again with our younger daughter. read more
