Not only is Ms. Karen excellent at her job, but she has an incredible, lighthearted rapport with my daughter. They get along well and Ms. Karen is great at keeping my daughter on task - even during fun summer months when she would rather be playing and hanging out with friends. Thanks to the pandemic my kids are in school only 2.5 hours/day. I was super worried about their academic, social and emotional wellbeing, but thanks to Chicago Home Tutor think they are going to be in better shape than ever. When I knew the likelihood of school wasn't looking good I reached out to every teacher friend and tutoring agency I could find for help. E- learning in the spring was rough for my kids... and being a working mom and I had no plans to return to that craziness. I must have interviewed 35 potential tutors over the course of a few weeks and decided I never wanted to be a school principal. Laura from Chicago Home Tutor sent us a candidate based on our criteria (someone who would challenge our kids yet make school fun). My friend and I interviewed Mr. K via zoom and decided that his experience and personality was almost too good to be true. We decided to move ahead immediately and set up a pod for our 4th grade girls for 3 times/week and a pod for our 2nd grade boys for 2 times/week. I contacted Chicago Home Tutor this term for my 10yo 5th grade daughter who was clearly behind in her math skills due to covid learning environment that did not work for her. Our tutor Maureen has been an absolute blessing to our family. This place is awesome. Hands down it is simply fantastic. My wife and I were in a unique situation with one of our kids. (I don't want to specify which kid for their own protection, so I'll refer to him or her as 'kid') We didn't need a tudor for bad grades, we needed a tudor for management skills. Our kid was having a hard time staying organized and prioritizing tasks. There's a special name for it, I think it's called executive function disorder or something like that. Anyway, our tutor's name was Chelsea and she was absolutely wonderful. She was flexible on scheduling and always showed up on time (actually she was a little early) and she was very very friendly and made our child very comfortable. We have a back family room so they would work together for about an hour once a week. Almost immediately we saw significant results. She kept trying different methods until one of them stuck. It took about 3-6 weeks until we started seeing the fruits of labor- my child's grades went up, organization skills went up, and overall confidence. She just kind of helped him connect the dots to be successful and it absolutely worked and we plan on having her come for another year next year as well. Best investment ever! Chicago Home tutor is the 1st tutoring company we've worked with, but I am so impressed. Sonia has been working on math with my 2nd grade daughter since July 2019. Since then, I have noticed a lot less anxiety towards math, and more confidence in problem solving. My son has been doing math tutoring through Chicago Home Tutor with Catherine since just before the March COVID shutdown. Chicago Home Tutor took the time to find a tutor who's skill-set was perfectly matched to our son's meds. She and my son had about 2 sessions in person, and have been working over Zoom ever since. The transition to Zoom has been really smooth and we we have been so happy working with Catherine. Our son recently took a math test at school that he did very badly on, and his teacher allows the students to complete test corrections to improve their grade and their understanding of the topics. Catherine has been going through the corrections with my son. Since they could't meet in person, I sent her screen shots of the problems he got wrong, and an instruction sheet from his math teacher outlining how they are supposed to complete the corrections. Not only has Catherine been going through the corrections with my son, but she made Google slides for each problem with all of the elements he needs to include in his corrections. The slides are amazing, and made the whole process so much less frustrating for son. In addition, I asked Catherine if she had any suggestions for accommodations to include in my son's 504 plan since his meeting was coming up. She sent me several well though out accommodations that are very tailored to my son and his needs. They were things I hadn't thought of, and supports that I think will really help Him Catherine has really gone above and beyond for our son. It took Carol and I a few times to meet but it was only due to weather but what I really liked was that Carol the tutor was very communicative with me and coordinated with me very well.
