Walk away and don't look back. Pye Barker is unreasonable to deal with when it comes to customer satisfaction. I tried to cancel service that was established by Royal Security who was then bought out by Altronics. Pye Barker refuses to honor the change of name that was approved by Altronics as the result of an estate settlement upon the death of my mother. The contract with Altronics clearly stated that the account number would remain the same, the monitoring period would remain the same and the remaining months left on the annual service would be credited as paid in full. Now they want to wipe away that time frame and claim the contract is being cancelled 7.73 months early. My relationship spans over 22 years going back to when we had another property under Royal Security. In less than a year with Pye Barker, my satisfaction went to total dissatisfaction. Stay away from Pye Barker and find a smaller security company with more personalized treatment! read more

I contacted the business on Monday regarding a new system for my residence. The worst company period. Mom got new windows and paid for the year. Told need a whole new system. O K since she paid for a non existent system could she get credit for the new equipment. No response at all. Lost a faithful client and making sure you are not in the Pemberton Area to ripe off more elderly customers. Also for over $2,000 dollars you sales rep is a joke. read more

would not recommend B safe security in Oreland, PA Our security system had many issues, needed repair/ replacement parts generating more bills - the company unable to actually fix problems, always ending up computer eliminating security check points to bypass beeping , just to avoid alarms. When an alarms goes off, the security person calling frequently identified themself as a-totally different company ( later correcting for the right name) which is really bizarre when dealing with safety. It's tough to provide personal information to somebody who doesn't even identify as the company that is monitoring the system. if anything is wrong with the system in off hours, weekends/ holidays, no support - even when it's an urgent matter ( the company offered instruction how to power off system via a phone. You will continue being charged for a system that has been powered down / malfunctioning ) At one point, the company called family members of previous owners of the house from 10 + years ago in regards to alarms ( not listed on the contact list) read more

Bsafe purchased the alarm monitoring service I previously used. I had no contract with them a d had month to month service. When I notified them to end my service in mid December, even though I was paid up until the end of December, they want me to pay them for another month. I refused. They now call me and everyone on my alarm notification call list every day and harass us. There are so many reputable alarm companies out there to choose from, this is not one of them. I suggest you save yourself the harassment and stay away from bsafe. read more

DO NOT and I Repeat DO NOT USE B Safe and or Pye Barker. Notice the amount of complaints for this company on the Better Business Bureau page - https://www.bbb.org/us/de/wilmington/profile/burglar-alarm-systems/b-safe-inc-0251-8000531/complaints I was a customer with them for 19 years, always paid my bill for the entire 12 months up front. . In the past we bought a 5 year lease for video equipment and even when that lease was completed , they wanted to keep charging us. I had to email Joe Gallagher (one of the owners) who only responds to better business bureau post and he was no help with that issue. We moved this year in July and I expected a refund as I had paid for the entire year from May 2024 to May 2025. They did not issue a refund and instead requested that I pay for another year - stating that I had signed a 5 year contract and since I was leaving early, there is a 75% fee. This is completely unscrupulous, and shows a lack of loyalty to a good customer. I paid the bill, however I would highly advise to stay away from B Safe and Pye Barker. read more

The installation guys were very good. The monitoring service provided was fair/decent - as good as any other I guess, though it's WAY more expensive. The problem is their contract. BUYER BEWARE - read the fine print. In particular, read the 3.TERM and 4.RENEWAL sections. For your convenience, it auto renews in 5 year (!) increments. So if you're happy for five years and one month, and then decide you don't need it any more.... Sorry Charlie - you're on the hook for 59 more payments. So convenient!! Oh, and you won't get any notification of this new commitment - it's only in the fine print of the contract that you signed FIVE years ago. So good luck with that!! And they'll defend this business practice by giving you a magnifying glass and saying it was in the contract! So I highly recommend you just look elsewhere - if there is this sinister, sneaky clause in there, there is likely more onerous language that I am unaware of. Just find a better company - I know there are more ethical ones out there that don't try to trick their customers. Good luck read more

We have been a customer of B Safe and the company they acquired for something like 30 years. As we have done for the past 20 years, we prepaid in September for the next twelve months. When we canceled in December, we expected some amount of the additional 8 months prepayment to be refunded. I would very much suggest that you completely avoid this disreputable company. read more

Received a $10+ increase for services each month IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONTRACT PERIOD!!!! My contract ends in June. How am I getting an increase that is effective on February 1? Firstly I encourage you to look elsewhere for monitoring. I do not think this is an ethical company. But if you persist with b-Safe, READ THE CONTRACT CLOSELY!! Specifically, the terms and renewal. The sales person will gloss over it and hope you don't see it but you are signing a five year contract you won't get out of. And If after 5 years and one month you decide you don't want it anymore TOO BAD - you're on the hook for another five years! A TEN year commitment to pay overpriced monitoring - all for not reading the fine print! They will hand you a magnifying glass and tell you it's all in the contract you signed (which in my case was true). And they will also say it's for your protection to make sure you're covered. That's laughable and transparently self serving. The industry leaders in this space do not auto renew for multi-year terms but still keep their customers covered. The service was fine and the materials they used were fine also. The installation guys were great. I do take issue with the sales guy MS who knew I didn't want a long commitment but never mentioned the auto renew. Slimy. The pricing is WAY higher than their competitors so I suggest at a minimum you shop around. Specifically, look at larger nationwide companies - they will auto renew month to month which both keeps you covered and not locked in for a decade. It's a shame bc I would normally want to support a small local company but in this instance the local business has predatory policies. Steer clear and good luck! read more

They use 5-year contract to lock you in and the price is much higher than others. My contract was signed on 2014 which is $36 per month. Recently I want to transfer it to the new owner of my house and they give the new owner $50 per month, which is ridiculous. Also, I was going to cancel the service and call the company. They ask me to wait until the closing date and see if the new owner would love to use their service. But now they told me the new owner doesn't want to use it and I cannot cancel the service since it is already auto-renewed. Why didn't you told me it will be auto-renewed when the first time I called with the intention of cancellation? Then they said it is on the fine print of the contract that it will be auto-renewed WITHOUT notification. But the truth is the fine print is so tiny and no one mentioned it when signed up the agreement that it will be auto-renewed. read more

The camera system works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I asked to cancel the camera portion of our service (and keep the alarm service). It is frustrating to be held to a contract for a service that does not work properly. I would avoid this company. read more

Worst security company ever. After bad customer service we decided to move to ADT. We called to cancel asked if we owed anything and were told we had no. They never cancel the contract, they never called us back when they said they would. We got an invoice for the next quarter and had to call them. They informed us we need to fill out a cancellation form (never told that when we called to cancel) and pay $250+ termination fee since we were under contract for another 6 months. No one told us this when we called to cancel, we would have waited until the contract expired to make the move. When we question all of this we were told the person on the phone misspoke. These people are the most unscrupulous people I have ever dealt with. They bought the previous company I had and when I tried to cancel the service they said I would have to pay $179 early termination fee. I've never had a contract with them but apparently they are using a contract I signed in 2011 and are using an automatic renewal clause to charge this fee. BSafe bought the company I was with since 1995. They said I had to upgrade to 5G so I said ok. I signed the paper that I thought was verifying that the Tech installed it. Read the reviews. This company has terrible customer service and shady contracting practices. Many other security companies to choice from, so do yourself a favor a steer clear of this company. They are very very bad at customer care when you go for canceling the service. My Year to Year contract is starting from Aug 1st, even though I asked to cancel in July they denied, saying, it required 1 month notice. When I sighed the contract for 1 yr the lady(don't want to say her name as she is no more with this company) told me that any time you can cancel by calling 1 month before. Now even though I am ready to pay 1 month fees for cancelation even though I am with them since 2014. The are still not doing so. My alarm had gone off, but the monitoring hub had no record of it. I found out that the service was tied to my home phone. They are billing me for the remainder of the contract. Be careful they hid a lot in that contract. Who offers a 10 year contract. I would never have used them if I had known that. Great service so far for my new home in Philadelphia. Easy to use app, and affordable installation / monthly cost. Would highly recommend.

I do not recommend this company to ANYONE. When we started our service it was with Dave. Dave was great and so easy to deal with. He was friendly and helpful. Dave sold the company to B Safe and it has been a nightmare to deal with. When you have an issue, you get to deal with Pat.... she is horrible. (You are lucky if you get someone else in the office!) She is so unpleasant that my husband refused to call and deal with her. We actually ended up turning the power off to our unit when our sensors went because we didn't want to call and deal with Pat. No one notified us that we had no service and when we expressed this, they said it's like a TV service just because you unplug your TV doesn't mean you don't have a service to your house. OK so if a service person or someone gets in my house and unplugs my alarm, I won't be notified and they can come back at a later time and rob me. How does that make sense? Now trying to cancel our service (that they said is outdated and no longer works so we would have to upgrade our system or lose our money) is even worse. If you go with them... good luck!!! read more

Had used Advent Security since taking over the alarm system in 2010 when I purchased my home. Advent was acquired by B-Safe in 2020 (I believe). Service has been fine BUT beware of the fine print. I never had a contract with this company and never realized I had one until I requested to upgrade my system. The quote was ridiculous. At that point I reached out to the former owner of Advent. He was nice but not very helpful and explained the new company was all about the bottom line and he also mentioned that even though I may not realize it, I had a contract that was for at least 3 years and that AUTOMATICALLY renews for 3 more years if you don't cancel. I called to verify and was given a date that now seems is tied to some minor work to add some sensors, for which I was charged several hundred dollars. In that documentation I noticed the fine print created a new contract for me at that time for 5 years! So by adding sensors that I paid for material and labor, my contract was reupped for 5 years! That is borderline criminal. There was no mention of this by the Advent employee and I signed thinking it was just a work authorization. Always read the fine print, especially with this company! Fortunately, I just found out my renewal is coming up and I will be cancelling. They try to compare themselves to ADT (which is not great either) but they are more expensive and less transparent than ADT. read more

These people screwed my elderly mother over. Claimed she signed a contract, but she doesn't sign contracts unless read. Wonderful company! Honest, professional and knowledgeable staff. Those complaining about a 5 year contract obviously know nothing about the security business. Most of them have them. I recommend them to all my friends and family. Thank you for making us safe!! read more

The other reviewer is completely correct! Do not sign a contract with this company. The contract is for a five year initial period and then after the 5 years automatically renews for another five years, then renews for another 5 years automatically, etc. The only way to cancel the contract is if you remember once every five years to do so. No one knows what will happen in the next five years! You could sell your home or no longer want the service for whatever reason. But you are completely locked in for monthly fees for an entire 5 years if you forget to cancel after the first 5! Just stay away! Most alarm companies renew for a monthly period after an initial period of 2 or 3 years. Shop around and ask about the contracts. You will find this is the case. I also agree with the other reviewer that the employees there are rude. Sneaky contracts. Sneaky business practices. If this is how they make money - by not allowing long time customers to stop paying for services - they should be ashamed of themselves. read more
