This is my favorite breakfast spot when I visit my son. I loved the breakfast skillet, I could customize and have potatoes, sausage tomatoes and eggs the way I liked. Fair priced and good coffee!

1.8 Overall I have had B&N recommended one time since being in Lafayette. Decided to try it why I was waiting on my vehicle to be serviced across the street. The food was all cooked fine, served hot. The coffee was likely the best part aside from a very sweet server. The omelette was the whipped fluffy style, I prefer old fashioned folded omelette. The ingredients were just laid in the center and not incorporated at all into the eggs. The potatoes were well cooked but bland, gravy was void of any flavor and biscuit seemed to be from the previous day and warmed on the griddle, very dense and unremarkable. The whole breakfast was unremarkable to be honest. It was good to finally try it but I don't believe I'll go back. To many other options that are far better.

Friendly environment and good food. The way a diner should be. Big portions. Reasonable prices. Clean restaurant. Excellent biscuits and gravy. Delicious tenderloins. Attentive service. I like that there are regulars who sit around and solve the world's problems with friendly banter. My iced tea never reaches the bottom before it is refilled. Maggie is an amazing waitress. This is the kind of place you rush by without thinking about but for the price of the sack of fast food breakfast at your side, you will have a better meal and a warm feeling if you stop here instead. My wife likes black coffee. She's never disappointed. Cash only but there is an ATM on hand if you forget. Worth the stop.

This spot exceeded every expectation. The exterior seems small, however the inside feels quite spacious with lots of tables. The portions are huge and the food is good quality, all at a decent price. Our waitress, Corey, was super sweet and refilled our coffee at least 5 times. We will be visiting again!

Stopped in here on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon and all I can say is this place is a treasure! I'm a new Midwesterner and after I got over my Culture shock of no sweet tea (listen folks, cold tea and adding sugar on the table isn't the same... just make some sweet tea!) I dove head first into what is my new favorite thing in the world. The breaded tenderloin sandwich! And this place has a freakin' good one! First of all, I got the small one, but it was still the size of my head, and I got a HUGE head! I can't imagine who could eat the big one, but I wanna party with those people! Crinkle cut fries, good coffee, and the best thing... the owner was a cool cat, service was good, food was great... like I said. I can live without the sweet tea for a home run place like this! Bring cash, no plastic here, which is cool. They have an ATM and the few is only a buck so they get it... I don't mind helping a little local place like this hide some cash from the man! I had to learn proper etiquette for eating a tenderloin sandwich, I chose the "cut and stack" method... lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and Mayo. I couldn't finish it, and I'm a lumberjack grizzly bear wrassler type of dude. Come here, give em your money, the prices are cheap, but the food is a gold mine!

Ordered this place from uber eats, it came fast but at a price. The food was i kid you not dripping wet and had a very whacky odor.

The attitudes of the employees. The older cook has a very bad attitude. They don't list when you order. I got the wrong order.

Pleasant staff greeted us upon arrival and the genial vibe continued throughout our meal. Props to Paige for great service during an obviously busy Saturday morning. Quaint decor and quality service gave me high hopes that the meal would be a winner, too...and it was! Dishes were served hot and perfectly plated...and the first bite sealed the deal: Delicious! Flavor development and fresh tastes met me bite after bite...excellent in every way! If mild coffee is the way you enjoy your coffee, you'll enjoy their coffee...I prefer a more robust blend and missed it the table with the symphony of other great flavors. The carefully clean dining room and bathrooms tell me that management covers all facets of running a great restaurant...kudos! I'll be sure to return to The North End Cafe in the future and I hope you have a similar experience when you cross through the door for the first time! Until next time...tk

Triple XXX root beer was king of the hill back when I was growing up in the 60's and 70's. Damn…read morefine root beer, too! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise that there was but one Triple XXX restaurant that remained open, carrying the torch (as it were) for that great root beer! So on a nice and humid Saturday, me, hubby, and our little Puppy hopped in the car for a 2+ hr drive to West Lafayette IN for lunch! Of course - we got there - an old-style-diner-like building perched on a hill close to Perdue University in West Lafayette! We were seated in the outdoor "full service" tented section of the restaurant (covered) and perused the menu. After ordering the obligatory Triple XXX root beer (but of course - which came with free refills) we turned to the menu! Hubby ordered the Barney Burger - a 1/4 lb chop steak burger with cheese and grilled onions - as fyi, no burger comes with condiments- you get to "dress your own the way you like it" with condi's on the table. I ordered the Bernie Flowers All-Pro - a 1/4 lb chop steak with lettuce, tomato, onion (which I held) and Miracle Whip (yes!) on a toasty sesame bun. We both got curly fries (which were yummy, btw). Ok- first thoughts- the burgers - while fresh- were a bit dry. Hmm. The lettuce on my Bernie was a nice, crisp, and cold leaf. Yes! The tomato was freshly sliced and - honestly- looked like one I'd cut at home. Sweet! So why the 4 stars - I mentioned the meat was dry? Oh my. Yes, that's the sole demerit. But props to the fries and the awesome Root Beer! We enjoyed it - and just in the nick of time. No sooner did we finish up than a severe thunderstorm rolled into town! So we skedaddled to the car, hopped in, and drove thru drenching rain, super strong winds, some light hail - until we got outta Indiana on our way back to Illinois. Would we come again? Of course! Gotta support places like this-they're an important part of Americana! Check it out yourself and enjoy- as we did!

This time I got a burger and root beer. This isn't fancy food, this is country cooking at it's finest. The root beer is amazing. I should have asked about a root beer float, next time. You walk it and sit where ever you can. It it a long counter that wraps around and the wait staff walk inside it. The fries are yummy, and the burger was perfect for what I needed a solid meal since I hadn't eaten in almost 9 hours. Yep sounds like a personal problem. But hey at least the food here has been perfect both times. Maybe next time I will buy a shirt or at least some root beers to go with me. My burger was a true knife and fork meal. At least I am too old to be wearing my chili all over my beard and shirt. Highly recommend if in the area and it is only 5 miles off the interstate. Drive in and enjoy a yummy meal.

To my dismay, they arrived completely overcooked and unappetizingly brown. To add insult to injury, my toast was burnt to a crisp, nearly charred to a shadow of what it should have been. When I pointed this out to the waitress, her nonchalant response was, "It's kind of burnt," as if there are acceptable levels of burn. In my opinion, when the toast is predominantly black, it clearly falls into the category of "burnt." The overall quality of the meal was abysmal, and it was evident that the staff couldn't have cared less about my experience. While I was not charged for the meal, I wouldn't have paid for it even if I had to. There's simply no way I could bring myself to eat here again. Curiously, my husband ordered a similar omelette, but his came out perfectly yellow and appetizing, along with toast that was actually edible. This made me wonder if my request not to burn my food inadvertently insulted the cook, leading to my meal being intentionally scorched. After sending the dish back, I received not a word of apology or even an offer to prepare something else. It was a complete lack of customer service. This review, without a doubt, has to be the most negative I've ever written. Normally, I refrain from posting bad reviews because I understand that everyone can have an off day. If a restaurant attempts to rectify their mistakes, I tend to be forgiving. But in this case, the food was nothing short of garbage on a plate, and the indifference from the staff was glaring.
