This store has the same items as every other similar store in the US and the ones I've visited in other countries. The canned drinks near the registers are cheaper than restaurants and corner stores, so we got a few for our walk back to the hotel.

Having Winners being my favorite in Canada, I was elated to realize the company is in the UK also. So I did exactly what I do best and went into the shop to help settle into my new home. Did the most part, there's a huge selection of bathroom supplies. Literally 1/5th of the store. Shampoos, conditioners, body care, makeup. The whole nine. You'll surely find something. Clothing on the other hand is really a depressing thought. I've been here 4 times now and already I haven't found a single clothing article worth a second glare. Maybe is the pandemic that's cause everything to run dry, but it was quite a disappointing couple of experiences. The staff are super helpful and pretty much willing to accommodate any way they can. Some of the employees do have staring eyes (for some random reason. At least be sure to blink) But oh well.

It's great as you really do get designer clothes/shoes for high street prices. Personally, I prefer to buy wardrobe staples than the craziest fashions so TK Maxx is ideal for me, as the stuff I buy may be last season but it won't really go out of fashion. As the stuff is designer, most of it is very good quality. TK Maxx does tend to operate in the case of things being bunged on a rail with a very loose order structure but I don't mind this as I quite like looking through things and finding something perfect which there's only one of! Only problem with this is sometimes you find something in the wrong size and they don't have another! :-( Some people don't like this style of shopping though, my mum hates trawling through the clothes and still finds it overpriced but each to their own! Overall, I, personally, would really recommend this place. You can pick up some real bargains!

It wasn't easy to find everything - the kitchen department is a bit haphazard, but if you hunt you'll eventually find what you're after. The main problem with the store in Welwyn Garden City is the building. There are three floors and it's a maze. Different areas are in separate small rooms so it's very difficult to find what you're looking for. I feel like a floor plan or more signs would be really helpful because it would be very easy to get lost. The website suggests there's store parking (for a fee), but even if you can't find that there are many options nearby.

I visited Selfridges with my husband about two weeks ago, when we were visiting London for a few days. This store - their flagship - opened in 1909, and is the second-largest department store in the UK after Harrods. The store was founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge, who became the subject of an ITV/Masterpiece showed called "Mr Selfridge," in which Selfridge was played by Jeremy Piven. During the Second World War, Selfridges housed a huge SIGSALY scrambling machine in its basement, which allowed Winston Churchill to call President Roosevelt directly and securely about a mile away from the Cabinet War Rooms. You can see its history in the bones of the building. The store has definitely been updated (it's stunning), but you can see original touches from the 1909 building. But Selfridges is a modern luxury department store with the best brands. You can definitely spend some money at Selfridges. We were just exploring the store, since we were in the neighborhood, but it's an incredible store - for shopping, for having a glass of champagne at their bar, or for checking out their pretty wonderful art pieces around the store.

Lots of other cool things to explore within Selfridges as well. I have found the service to be consistently friendly, helpful, and polite. Selfridges is an institution to seen by all whether for the first time or the 100th time.

I left with a suitcase with detachable rucksack (a suitcase that can be carried as a rucksack, with arm straps!) and a huge duffel bag to stow the carseat in. I thought the prices to be competitive (the duffel bag only £14!) and the service top notch. The guy helped me with everything, took it to the counter while I looked around, helped me with the Summit Club membership and packaged it all up smoothly so I could get it back to my flat. The Kathmandu items are high quality and have already made many trips. They are durable and sleek, and high performance. Just what I needed. The last thing you want to deal with while traveling (with a baby or not) is crap luggage. Set right next to Spitalfields Market and boasting some rather fit staff, Kathmandu has everything for the civilian to adventurer. Water flasks, jackets, thermals, little key ring things with torches on them, it has it all. I actually found heaps of stuff I wanted to buy - probably more in the way you deck yourself out with designer gym wear after only one visit, to realise you're not quite the gym junkie you thought you would become if in fact you had the correct gear. The staff here is friendly enough and not up your arse, in a way that is common in a small store. I like to come in here and have a poke around.
