On the day we went, the store wasn't very organized and the lines were long. However, if you're flying in and leave something, this is the place you go to find anything you may need while in London. I was a bit disappointed, as this seems like a nice area of town and I expected to see more high-end merchandise. This store has the same items as every other similar store in the US and the ones I've visited in other countries. The canned drinks near the registers are cheaper than restaurants and corner stores, so we got a few for our walk back to the hotel.

Having Winners being my favorite in Canada, I was elated to realize the company is in the UK also. So I did exactly what I do best and went into the shop to help settle into my new home. Did the most part, there's a huge selection of bathroom supplies. Literally 1/5th of the store. Shampoos, conditioners, body care, makeup. The whole nine. You'll surely find something. Clothing on the other hand is really a depressing thought. I've been here 4 times now and already I haven't found a single clothing article worth a second glare. Maybe is the pandemic that's cause everything to run dry, but it was quite a disappointing couple of experiences. The staff are super helpful and pretty much willing to accommodate any way they can. Some of the employees do have staring eyes (for some random reason. At least be sure to blink) But oh well.

The idea is simple: TK Maxx buys clothes at the end of their line for peanuts and sells them for just above peanuts to the public. Their selling point is brands for a lot less, which is true and attractive enough in itself. For me however, as a gentleman of some height who struggles to find trousers in other stores and then generally gets ripped-off when he does, TK Maxx is a God-send. Not only do they buy loads of US brands which do my size, but they also very conveniently organise all their clothes by size, meaning I can simply stroll up to the rack in question and then sort through all the clothes that are likely to fit me in one fell swoop. No trekking to each store for the same outcome. AND it's super-cheap, typically £30 for trousers, which for a tall guy, is hard to find. So TK Maxx, I salute you. May you long find business in these here shores.

On the plus side, they have lots of nicely priced accessories and houseware gifts that I can purchase for the various birthdays, baby showers, house warmings, and other events that occur and I easily forget at my work down the street. I went straight to the women's footwear section in the basement floor. I actually fell in love with four pairs of leather boots (a rarity as I usually can't find ones that I like or are in my size). Got a pair of Italians leather boots (knee high) that were 50% off. Bargain. Oh and just discovered that ny law all uk stores must charge 5p per bag.

Debenhams and supplier Destina Home intentionally mislead customers by advertising reasonable returns T&C's only to enforce significantly worse not communicated at any stage of purchase. It takes 2 months to process returns with a customer service team that takes no action unless chased daily. Once acceptable terms are agreed in writing by Debenhams customer service and products are returned, they go back on their word and illegally retain their customer's money anyway!

Everything you'll find in here is at a discount, from 20% to 90%, you do have to be prepared to rummage around though, they can be very messy places and you tend to have to fight for clothes at a busy time or when there's sales. A lot of the stuff in here is last season or may have minor imperfections, you can get more money off stuff usually if you ask for it pointing out flaws, the prices in these shops are quite negotiable. If you have the time and patience to look around you can find some great bargains!

Although the new store has a modern feel to it (a little like new look) the aisle are much smaller and it's not easy to manouver a pushchair around it, which funny enough is worst in the childrens department. On a plus note, I Autumn Winter range seems more fashionable that their previous ranges and has a lot of the Folk look about it. I love their children and baby clothes which are fantastic value for money and of a good quality.
