I love Tk Maxx, even though if you really want to find something you need patience and plenty of time, I always do, and it is always nice and bargainous. For example, I bought some lovely brown leather boots with buckles, sturdy and warm, for £40, only to see them in another shop window for £150! Hoorah! They have all sorts of things in here, with emphasis on female fashion, though they do have lots of men's and kids clothes too. This is quite a large store so they have homeware too. Really useful for buying uni supplies like mugs, bowls and kitchen utensils- quality brands at very affordable prices! I have so many things from TK, it really has been god's gift. What I also like about it is that you go in having no idea what to expect, there is always a nice surprise at the end of the shop. This is because there is a huge mix of labels, from really high end designer to normal high street brands. And if you really have A LOT of time and patience then check out the clearance bit, they have bargains galore there, mixed in with a lot of rubbish.

Tiger is filled with random things, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's there but it's like a selection of Ikea goodies. They regularly have kitchenware there, so stop by for decorative bowls, storage containers, cake plates(£4), 2-tier serving platter (£7), all in different colors and designs! I saw a cute 2-person Japanese stoneware teapot and cups for £15. I think it's decent quality stuff for what you get. They also regularly stock colourful candles and decorative napkins, perfect for a party. Other cool stuff I've seen: -dedicated moustache section, anything goes! - home decor, storage baskets, candle holders, frames - art supplies, pastels, sketch books, canvas, pencils, paints - beauty stuff, shampoo, face wash - school supplies - kids stuff: games, stickers - umbrellas - storage containers - fun jewellery racks (saw a small square rack that rotates, fits 30+ pairs, for £4!!!) - packaging and gift bags - bicycle/travel section - snacks!! Anyway, it's not an exhaustive list but check it out, there might be done fun quirky things you can find. This is also a smaller store than the other ones I've been to (Brighton, Hammersmith and Tottenham Court Road). The only reason why I give 4* and not 5 is because its half the size, and and doesn't offer everything. This store isn't exactly the best first-timer's experience, so hit up the other larger stores first!

Kathmandu is the ultimate in getting kitted out for the world of outdoors. From hiking boots to waterproofs to biking gear, it even has yoga bits and pieces if you wish to indulge whilst on the hills. You can also buy camping equipment and travel accessories. I have to admit, shopping for camping excites me as much as shopping for drills and hammers but the staff in here are really friendly, helpful and made my visit quite appealing. That had nothing to do with the fact that the guys are very good looking of course! It is really great here for buying presents for friends who like to travel as it has everything you could ever need. I also bought some cool new gym gear which I wasn't expecting to find so that was definitely a bonus.

Taking place every 4 - 5 weeks at the great Modernist Hammersmith Town Hall, The Vintage Fashion Fair is where celebrities, stylists and many of London's overpriced vintage boutiques go to get their vintage wares. For a first timer the fair can be a little overwhelming, with dozens of knowledgeable sellers offering vintage fashion, accessories and textiles dating from Victorian times to the eighties and early nineties. Prices, predictably, are not cheap, but then this is high-end vintage. An original full length seventies Janice Wainwright dress will set you back around £100, a vintage Yves Saint Laurent jacket around £250 and original costume jewellery by the likes of Kenneth Jay Lane and Givenchy starts at around £50. My only criticism is the changing room situation. Although my reticence about stripping in front of dozens of other shoppers has decreased a little over years of buying at sample sales, the incongruity of trying on sixties Parisian couture in a town hall's toilets was not lost on me. Nevertheless, this hallowed fair is definitely worth a visit. Even if only for a browse because its friendly, charming sellers and magical atmosphere make this much more than a vintage shopping trip, The Vintage Fashion Fair is an experience.

It's not the cheapest place to buy vintage, but it is usually of a high standard, so you end up saving time by not having to trawl through so many piles of junk. Some of the sellers really know what they're talking about and have beautiful clothes. The reason I haven't given this five stars is that because due to the fact that it's indoors, it can feel a little crowded and chaotic, but as far as vintage fairs go it's comparativeley well organised, and the crowds are inevitable.
