Factory Outlet North Finchley is nothing like that. There are some good deals to be had, even a rack starting at just 5 pounds. I'll admit the clothes in this shop are taste-full and beautiful. There is a particularly nice brown ruffle dress in a silky material for 22 pounds and some lovely knits that wrap around your body. The staff here is friendly enough and not up your arse, in a way that is common in a small store. I like to come in here and have a poke around. I will note this store only sells clothing so no handbags or shoes on offer.

Although I attended regular 'fittings' (none of the outfits you choose to be tailored are in the store after you purchase them, as the business claims they are in India being adjusted), so measurements were taken. My shape and size changed over the months due to pregnancy, and despite my concerns and suggestions, the manager was dismissive and patronising, each time telling me 'don't worry, trust me' and to believe that the outfit would fit. 10 days before my wedding, I received a call from the manager confirming my worst fears that the outfit not only did not fit, but was 8-10inches too small at the waist. I was flabbergasted, as it seemed the regular measurements were a waste of time, and I felt I had been deceived/ cheated. As you can imagine so close to my wedding, I was devastated and stressed, as I had to find another outfit in such a short space of time. This is the worst experience any bride could imagine and to avoid this experience, go elsewhere - Mongas is fantastic.

This branch of primark has always felt quite small, chlaustrophobic and grotty if I'm honest BUT I…read morewent in for the first time in ages a couple of days ago and the refurbishment work (which seems to have been going on forever!!) definitely seems to have paid off - it feels much more welcoming and roomy - a bit more like the Ealing, Kingston, Hammersmith branches do. They've given it an extra floor and it's definitely a lot better than it was, much more enticing! The clothes aren't amazing quality but they're great value so great if you want to follow the latest trends without breaking the bank. Queues have always been horrendous in this branch (used to be like a cattle market!) but I'm hoping the expansion will make them more bearable (haven't yet bought anything from the newly refurbished store though so can't vouch for this!). Overall, it's a lot better now it's been refurbished and great for people who live locally like me but I still prefer other branches like Hammersmith and Ealing. Primark is great for cheap fashionable clothes!

Instead there are lots of higher-end stores ranging from designer clothing to designer cosmetics and designer gadgets. Actually, it's not all second-mortgage shopping here - there are some 'normal' shops too, they're just a bit nicer than most high street equivalents. There are oodles of places to get a snack on the way round, like Starbucks etc. and there is a giant foodhall with choices for the discerning and not so discerning among you. On that note, a trip to Bluewater isn't complete without a trip to Ed's Diner - have one of their awesome burgers and a spectacular milkshake to find out why. Just make sure you eat when you're finished shopping though as you will just about be able to stagger to your car afterwards with the feeling in your belly. If you go at Christmas there are some superb lights outside as you approach the car parks - giant deers are among the best ones, but be warned, it can get super busy there too. Ample parking means it's not such a chore to go and the whole place is big enough that you don't feel crammed in - it's akin to a lot of the big malls in the States, and one of the best shopping trips (if there is such a thing) you can make in this country.
