Just bought another bike from B&L. And I read the other reviews, both good and bad. Here's the thing. Bikes, in the U.S., instead of truly being mainstreamed into our culture, still (especially on the Palouse) are still kind of a niche thing. The people that dedicate their life to cycle-culture in a part of the country that still kinda rejects it, are not going to be the standard issue. They're interesting, friendly, but also a little quirky. They're real people, and I'm glad of that every time I go into the store. If you want an upper end bike on the Palouse, with great service, and real personalities, this is the place. I think I'm on Bike #7 from them, and have been satisfied with every single one of them. Do I wish, sometimes, that there were greater choice? Yes. Am I glad, at least, that they are a distributor for Trek, most definitely one of the top brands? Yes. Do I recommend them all without reservation? Absolutely. Go in, get to know them, and buy a bike from them. It will definitely put you in your happy place! read more

Have bike trouble? Tough luck they are closed Sunday and Monday so I hope you have what you need. The selection is not great at all. Limited grip take, mostly e bikes for sale and little gear. The old guy who runs it won't even check you out. Opting instead to talk to his buddies while you stand there waiting to pay worse than retail prices. Multiple times I have had bike trouble and need a quick fix. But nope. It's the weekend, and B & L isn't open. I have to take time off work and school to make it to this bike store. I would trust REI more. read more

I recently took my old GUNNAR Rock Tour into B&L Bikes to get it ready to start riding again. Since I had concentrated on dirt bike riding. My Rock Tour is set up for more road riding I had to get it back into shape as it had been parked for a few years. Well I took it in and Bryce and his crew were as great as when I first bought this bike back in the early 2000's. Yes it has been a while but B&L is still the best. Took one of my bicycles in for them too work on after bringing it to another bicycle shop in Lewiston who charged me over 200$ and returned it to me with the same problems. I have done business with B&L in the past with excellent service but they are a good 2 hour drive from where I live so I gave this other place a shot. Needless to say that was a costly mistake. Went today to pick up my bike and leave another one for B&L to work on and low and behold, they put my bike I brought today right on the rack and it was good to go in less than 10 min. The fee for both of my bikes was a whopping $26. Not only is the customer service beyond exceptional, their knowledge of any bicycle is epic. The 2 hour drive was well worth it and B&L will be the only place I will take my bikes to and highly recommend them to anyone asking or looking for repair work or shopping for a new ride. My son is a freshman at WSU. At his request I gave him my nearly 30 year old REI mountain bike. I had maintained it reasonably well over the years. He took it in to have the shifters adjusted. No Charge! My hat's off to the proprietor! It is unusual these days to find an honest businessman. Understand that I did not purchase the bicycle from the shop. As an avid bike rider in a small town I wanted to support the only locally owned bike shop in Pullman. I really tried hard to like this shop, but I just couldn't bring myself to shop there again after some pretty poor customer service. Don't get me wrong, I thought MOST of the staff were attentive and courteous, but the owner is very short with his answers and seems annoyed when I would ask him a question. I would think that the owner would bend over backwards to help someone spending money in his shop. I ended up going over to Moscow to purchase a new bike and really have no desire to return to B&L for any of my biking needs. read more

I have to disagree with Andy K.'s review. I have bought four bikes through B & L and have never received anything but EXCELLENT Service!. As far as the owner (Brice) is concerned, the man is an encyclopedia of bicycles and their mechanics. I have never found him to be short with answers. Actually quite the contrary. He has always taken time to answer any questions I had or straighten me out when I had been misinformed. The guys there at B & L, Sean, Grant, Bruce and the rest of the crew are AWESOME! I can always just stop in if I have a question and I am warmly welcomed. What people have to realize is this is a business and they do get busy, phone, repairs, orders, customers. And because they are so good they are always busy whether you see the store flooded with people or not. read more

Stopped by here and decided to check out the E-bikes. We were first greeted by a younger salesman guy. He was super knowledgeable about the bikes and stayed with us til we had questions. Very professional. Hope the owners give this young dude recognition for this. Then we met one of the owners I think. Very nice guy who also answered all our questions and was an avid biker himself. Drove like 35 miles to wirk on his bike. Yes this is the type dude I want telling me about bikes. He knew his stuff and was super helpful. I then bought two Trek motorized bikes and after these guys kept talking them up so much I agree with them. I didnt want to stop riding these bikes lol. I rode to Walmart, Grocery store, you name it til nighttime. If your looking for bikes in this area this shop is great. Although how much I spent on these two bikes they shoulda thrown in one of the accessories I bought, the saddle bag, locks or somethin! as a gift or somethin. Lol. They get 5-stars read more

Friendly people, especially the owner. I feel like they're more geared (no pun intended) toward road bikes than some of the places in Moscow, so that works in my favor. Sometimes a little pricier than Moscow, but for me that seems like a convenience fee so I don't have to make it all the way over to Moscow. The times when they didn't have something I needed they've ordered it no problem. I've had them tune up my derailer and not charge me for it. Overall, always been happy with these guys. read more

I have a ten speed that has not been ridden in a couple of years and safely stored. I called around to see about having it checked out and 'tuned up,' and to get some pricing. Moscow bike shop quoted me a forty-five dollar fee that included a "full and thorough" tune-up. I called this outfit, B&L, and they quoted me a minor tune-up to be 20-30 dollars. Thats where I went and I am sorry I did so. They pulled a bait and switch on the price. When I got there they even admitted that the bike looked like it was in good shape. Since the handle bar tape was worn, I asked to have that replaced as well. Cost of tape 20 dollars. Told me it would be ready the following day. I called them early afternoon since I had not heard from them. Told me they haven't gotten to it yet and that they would call when the bike was ready. An hour later they left a message the bike was ready. When I got there the price jumped to forty five dollars for a 'minor tune-up. Aside from inflating the tires, everything looked like it did before, including the dust on the frame, and told "everything looked fine." What should have been a basic free inspection, written on their website, cost me 45 dollars for inflating the tires. and charging me more than originally quoted. Typical business method for Pullman. College students in, college students out. Avoid this bike shop. Go to Moscow or to Spokane or shop before coming to Pullman for your biking needs, where they rely on residents for their business. Yesterday there was a bike I was very interested in purchasing for my wife. Now I am going to Moscow or Spokane for the purchase. read more

I absolutely love all the gang at B&L bicycles! A little background is probably in order. I started riding as an old man (age 45) so I've ridden for almost 14 years at this point. I do live in a small town so was having a terrible time getting any attention or service for my Trek. I called B&L and made a tentative appointment for Monday so that I could go by and at least ask a few questions and check out the possibilities. Frankly, all the people in there are "bike guys". Some say that Bryce the owner seems to be a little smug. I found him to be quite a bike geek and deeply deeply knowledgeable. The owners within my town are smug but smug for no other reason than to just get you out the door or even better, to take your money and then get you out the door. Sean the sales manager is awesome and all the gang in there or very very professional. My first visit I was there a total of four hours. I went for information and options and got far more than I've gotten in the last three years at three other bike shops total. Frankly, the follow-up has been incredible. I traded in one bike sold them another bike and purchased a new bike. I have had questions I've either call from my home, called from my office, or even better have called from the road. I'm pretty sure I've talked to almost everyone at the shop and each one of them takes my calls, guides me through my questions and gives me answers that I can use. My take is this simple. Anyone, anywhere, anytime can get on the Internet and post any kind of malicious nonsense. Is the malicious nonsense true? Well I'm sure it has some small elements of truth. But to bash a business owner who's put it all out there and is trying to not only make a living for his family, but also for the families of the staff is ridiculous. True, my experience has only spanned a month or so. But in that month I've made one trip to Pullman, about a dozen phone calls that have all been picked up or returned and They have driven to meet me in my town twice (CALL YOUR LOCAL BIKE SHOP AND TRY TO GET DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICE!!). I walked into this bike shop for the first time and experienced poor customer service at first. The owner of the shop was short, rude, and not helpful. The other staff was helpful, but it did not make up for the owners conduct. Also my little brother went into the shop and asked questions and all the owner did was make fun of him. I don't really know who does that to a kid, you should simply encourage a young person who is interested in the sport. read more
