Here is a shot of the menu, take note cash only.

I was in Sidney for buisness and I knew one of my coworkers was from there so I asked him where are the must go places to try while I was in town. He recommended 2, The Spot, and BK Drive Inn. For the purpose of this review I am going to talk about BK Drive Inn but I did go to The Spot and got a nice pie. I pull up and and am just able to take a quick glance at the menu before the car hop lady is there to take my order. I wasn't expecting that fast of service because it was kind of busy but this lady moving. I knew they were known for there Rootbeer so I ordered a large one of those. Next I was I was thinking possibly a hamburger but the pork tenderloin stuck out to me and I picked up one of those along with an order of fries. Next thing I know it had to be less the 5 minutes she was back with my food, that was quick I thought. The first thing I tried was the Rootbeer. It was great and I highly recommended it. I have had rootbeer all over and this is one of the best ones I have ever had. Next I dug into the fries. They were crinkle fries and once again they were one of the better versions I have tried. Better then Culvers and Canes in my opinion. Plus the sheer amount was almost overwhelming. Lastly I pulled out the tenderloin sandwich. Saying it was huge would be and understatement. It looked like a deep fried Frisbee. It was great too, but the waitress did ask me if I wanted any toppings on it and I said no. I feel like dropped the ball there but it was great just plain as it was. Being a newbie I was pretty unfamiliar with the menu but in the short time I was waiting it seemed like the hotdogs here were the go to item. The person next to me ordered like ten, and something called a Spanish dog that sounded pretty interesting. To wrap things up, this place is great and I highly recommend it. The prices are great, the portions are huge, and the staff is super friendly. I will make sure to go back next time I am in town. Maybe I will try one of those Spanish dogs.

Probably another place relying solely on nostalgia. Hotdogs nondescript, boiled, and fairly bland. Root beer tasted like every other fountain root beer. Fries were good but actually not oily enough (odd to say not enough oil) to allow for salt adherence. Great location for a place. Right next to a park and within walking distance from the downtown. Sorry, I had high hopes based upon other reviews. Could really be something if you put some money and effort into it and not just settle for mediocre.

I don't often repeat reviews unless something is very different since the previous review(s). This…read moreis one of those times. We had an art show to attend in Sidney and stopped here for dinner afterwards. It's a beautiful restaurant in downtown Sidney. I started with a cup of clam chowder. Salty and creamy, it was very good. Next I had the Ahi Tuna dinner. The tuna was a bit overcooked but still delicious (and also salty). But the veggies were way overcooked, mushy and served cold. Yuk. The rice was also way overcooked and a mush pile, yuk as well. My SO had the Ahi tuna appetizer as her meal and the Greek salad. The tuna was coated both sides with a thick layer of wasabi and completely overpowered. She tried to scrape it off. The salad was ok but lacking any feta (again, a Greek salad). Service was painfully slow even though it was not busy. (3/4 of the tables were open.) Given that, the bill was over $100, I would certainly expect more for that price. Sorry, but it will be some time before we return.

We randomly ended up in Sydney on a Monday evening. After looking through Yelp, we decided to give…read moreThe Bridge a try. We lucked out and it was happy hour. Their martinis were half price (I think!). We both had a dirty martini with blue cheese olives! The starters were half price too. We ordered the tuna which was really good. It was served with wasabi. For dinner we both ordered the special, a 10 oz New York Strip. We split a wedge salad. The bread and garlic butter were wonderful! I could have feasted just on that! Our server, Madison was very helpful and thoughtful. We were really glad that we could pay our check right from the table using the QR code. We would definitely go back!

We really liked this place in downtown Sidney. It was different. On our way down I -75 traveling to…read moreDayton, we were looking for a place that was relatively quick, easily accessible and not too expensive. That usually means choosing a fast food chain location. These chains serve their purpose but aren't much fun. This place popped up on Yelp and turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The location is a short drive off the highway into downtown Sidney, taking about 4 or 5 minutes to get there from Exit 92. It was located in a retro building on the main intersection in town cross corner from the County Courthouse. Approaching from the West on Court St., it looked a little divey. It looks more pleasantly vintage from the Ohio St. side, which is actually its storefront. Our visit to this place prompted me to do some quick research. The Spot has been in business for over 100 years, opening in 1907. A fire destroyed the original building in 1940 and according to the local paper, "the current Art Moderne-style building was completed in 1941 and still features its original white porcelain tile, mid-century neon sign and iconic diner layout." It truly has a retro feel inside, going more or less for a 1950s aura where you would not be surprised to see Richie Cunningham sitting at a booth drinking a malt. Although the jukebox is digital, the upgrades enacted by the new owners who took over last year generally seem to be spot on. While it looks retro, the infrastructure is in nice shape with a clean, tidy appearance. It's a pleasant place for a meal. The format is walk-up-and-order. The girl working the counter was polite and efficient. To be fair in context, however, we walked in around 6:45 PM on a Wednesday night an hour-and-a-quarter before closing. It was not at all busy when we entered with one party there finishing their meal and only two others who walked in before we left. Hence, efficiency would be expected with no other customers to be served, but I'll still note the good work. The food was up quickly without any issues. We sat in 1950s comfort to enjoy our meal. I had the Turkey Club. It was quite good. I ordered mine with Onion Rings as my wife wanted to split these with me. She had the Swiss Lad sandwich, which she said was also very tasty. We split an Iced Tea which was likewise quite good. With everything, we spent $25.48 for dinner. At less than $13 per person, I was happy with that value. We'll certainly look for this place again when we are passing through Sidney.

Loved the sign that said "Table of Champions" I always like it when a restaurant recognizes their customers and appreciates them. We will be back, plan on going up to Sidney again next week.
