Magnolia Restaurant 5/12/15 0200 Very good, 5 stars for…read moresure. This is a restaurant in a truck stop. It is VERY brightly lit by fluorescent lights. The place looks clean and I must say that I was very impressed to walk in at almost 2 in the morning to find a gentleman cleaning the light fixtures and the air conditioning vents. I notice things like that and can't get over the fact that someone was taking the time to do this. Its All-American menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, southern entrees and an extensive breakfast menu. Tables are clean with a single fork in a plastic bag for sanitary reasons. The condiments on the table are an off brand but that is not incredibly important. There appeared to be a sit down counter in front of the kitchen, kind of old school. Ordering was fairly simple, a server comes to the table to take and deliver the order. I had a hamburger combo that could be ordered with either French fries or onion rings; I opted for the fries and sweet tea and added cheese to my burger. MWH had an order of pancakes. Upon delivery, the server let me know that the cook mistook my order for a double. Presentation wise, I was expecting a single patty but was pleasantly surprised (and not charged) with the double. The burger appeared fresh, the patty was formed in house and the fries were hot. In the future, I will ask for the fries to be a little better cooked as they were soggy but hot all the same. MWH's pancakes looked to be hot and fresh. My burger and fries were very greasy, but this is a truck stop and they are known for being a "greasy spoon", I can't say that I was shocked or disappointed. In fact, it was part of the expectation going in so I was not disappointed in that respect either. The quality was exactly what I would expect of a 24 hour truck stop restaurant. I would say that it is a step over other 24 hour all American diners. The server was attentive and checked back often to ensure that we were satisfied and taken care of. On the way out, I continued to observe the cleanliness and was altogether pleased. I will definitely be back and will continue to report on this establishment. Being a server myself, it is nice to have a go to place where I can eat after my restaurant closes; this will be it.

For it to be a truck stop diner it was very good and clean. Friendly service and great sweet tea!read more

However, I've never had any cold chicken and cold hard Jalapeño bread. In my conclusion, the food was yesterday's food. You may ask me how do you know? We arrived at 11:05 to place the order. We got our food at 11:15 which was quick. The chicken was cold. The mac & cheese was semi-warm and my okra was semi warm. You don't get this kind of food if a business opens at 11 AM and you receive your food at 11:15. That's why I am calling it yesterday's food. I wanted to ask so badly for them to just put it in the microwave because I saw it on HGTV and I wanted my food to be really great and I wanted to write a really good review for this business. However, I was highly disappointed. Now I am sure the food is probably hot on Sundays after people getting out of church in the south and all those good things. However, I was disappointed on a Thursday! Highly disappointed! The business is only open 3 hours a day so how could this happen? I am just glad we didn't have to stand in line for an hour and 30 minutes for some cold chicken. And I'll leave it at that!

Overall 4 Stars If…read moreyou want a decent Po-Boy in Meridian, make a pit stop at Seafood Express. Get your gas and chips but you GOTTA' get their sandwiches! Ambiance - A locally owned gas store / deli, you can order a variety of FRIED food, both Surf or Turf, plates, family style or a la cart. The only fresh seafood they might have is Crawfish, when in seasoned. There are three or four small tables to seat and eat. I recommend as order as takeout. Service - the staff were fast and friendly. With a steady supply of locals coming through, they ready to take your order. The deli section is stocked with a lot of fried items so you can get your food quicker. However, I would recommend to get one of their PoBoy sandwiches. You won't go wrong. You may have to wait 5-10 minutes but it worth it. Food - 4 Stars Shrimp PoBoy combo w fries and drink. $13.99 I would have given it 5 stars but the fries were overcooked and too crunchy. The quality of the potato of the fries could be better too. The bread was fluffy and toasty just as it should be for a PoBoy! The amount of shrimp was overwhelming. See pictures. The sandwhich came w lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes. No mayo. I ordered the 8" combo meal but they have a 6" size, if you counting your calories because your cholesterol will still be high with the amount of fried food! Oh, I forgot, they have shrimp fried rice too. So get a side order! I forgot to order mine. Bummer. Enjoy
