When I pointed this out, the person who spoke to me was combative and told me, "I can give you an extra gel coat this one time, but moving forward this is how it is." I can understand a slight shade difference, but I chose a soft peach coral and got a bright tangerine orange. If the supplier changed the color, then the salon should have updated the color wheel. Only rating 1 star because there is no option to rate lower. No time to choose a color. Polish options were limited, and outdated. Got a Delux Pedicure that lasted 17 mins start to finish. No cuticle work, no filing or shaping of nails, no buffing of nail, no massage, no base coat, polish put on so thick it dried with bubbles and then wrinkled. I asked her to do my cuticles and she said she had then started speaking in another language and laughing. Then the Gel manicure, again no cuticle work, no shaping, no massage, a dot of lotion, and no time to even pick out a color. I'm not convinced the glass bowl of water was even fresh. The woman treated me like I was wasting her time and only spoke in another language and laughed the entire time. Terrible experience. Top it all off, I was over charged by $8 and even after I pointed to the price list displayed. The woman who did my nails says oh polish takeoff was $8. I've never paid for a polish remove. My elderly mother has gone to this place many times. She tips well, and tries to talk to the ladies even though they will not speak english and are often very rude, speaking in abother language and laughing. Last time she asked how long it would take because she had a doctor's appointment. They said it would be quick and then served another person who came in after her. I've been coming to this salon for over a year. Needed a fill and repair. (Broken pointer fingernail). Never had a complaint in the past. The gentleman that repaired the nail made it a completely different shape and length. When I asked to have it fixed, a woman added another tip to the tip and fixed it, (obviously it was wrong). When finished, she told me to "in the future go to a different salon". Absolutely appalled! Instead of accepting they made a mistake, they tell customers to go somewhere else?!? Paying customers have the right to have a service done correctly, and not rushed because YOU'RE busy. Especially when it's $55 for a fill! I totally understand charging a small up charge for crazy designs, yet all I asked for was a solid color. I politely asked why there was a $14 up charge and she said I had "nail repairs". The first time I went there I had a good experience, but the way they cut my nail on my big toe caused an ingrown. I went back after it painfully grew in and asked them to cut them straight. The girl said she'd take care of it. As she was cutting it out and shaping it at an angle, I asked her to cut it straight across to not cause an ingrown. She said you need to see a doctor. All I needed was for her to cut them straight across and not cause an ingrown. She was either doing it intentionally or lacked an understanding of nail health. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I have been three times, trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, and each experience I have had has been horrible. I just went and had to wait over an hour for a fill, where I was then charged $67 for a FILL when I had only asked for a color change because I hated the color on my nails I had just gotten done less than two weeks ago. I went with friends who got full acrylic sets and were only charged $55. When I asked why I was charged so much, I was told because of the reshape and because I got a french, meanwhile, I did not even have them cut my nails, they just drilled off the color and redid the gel. I can understand being upcharged for a French manicure because that is standard at a lot of places, but I cannot understand how my fill cost significantly more than a new full set. None of these prices include tips. They take advantage of college students because they know we will end up paying their ridiculous pricing. read more

This was my first time at this salon and I can't say I'll go back. For reference, I've been getting my nails done, with tips, design, dip you name it for about 8 years now, and have never paid more than $55 for a plain set, mind you with everything included. My only goal was to keep my natural nails long, or else I would've removed and cut them myself... Over the phone, they sounded sure they could do what I'd ask and gave me a standard price I'd agreed to. When I got there, they started an immediate removal process, showing me they were too inexperienced in dip powder to do a proper fill. The removal included soaking my nails in acetone for about an hour, barely drilling off, and stripping my natural nails. They tried to make me do acrylic, which I've never liked, and either because of their removal process, push for acrylic, or general inexperience, they said my natural nails weren't strong enough for dip, when that's the whole reason dip exists, to provide that hard exterior/ protection for your naturals. So, they cut my naturals so I could have the length I wanted on their terms (they scorned the length of my nails, both my extensions and naturals, i mean just respect the customers wishes). When they were starting to put on extensions, I noticed an additive pricing sign about shaping and asked for a clearer price and breakdown... The original quote went from 45 to 85 for a basic color... they don't even shape, make their own work look good, without an extra $15 charge. So I cut it there, finished out the removal, which was the worst I'd experienced (emulsified polish hardened on my hands, cuticles uncut? nails stripped, and took about an hour until I said something), paid the crazy fee for it, and wished them well. Maybe for a basic mani pedi, it might be fine, but if you actually get your nails done in any capacity that requires a professional, their prices are scamming and their technique is not good enough to back it up. Also generally not super clean for a nail salon, crammed with no air filter I can't see how that's healthy for their employees or clients, but that's what I expect from sheer mediocrity. read more

Just to start off, I just made a Yelp account to write this review to share how awful the workers are and how this business is run. I came in for an acrylic fill in with gel polish, something I have gotten a million times. First off, when I first got there it was busy, which I can understand so I didn't mind waiting. But when I asked how long it would be, a very normal and standard question, the lady said she couldn't tell me and I should just leave. Whatever. I waited for about 45 minutes and when I finally sat down they proceeded to take off my gel to begin my fill in. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A FILL because my nails were lifting and I would have to leave. I have been getting acrylics every 3 weeks for the past 7 years, I know when my nails are lifting and I can tell you with absolute certainty they are not. Regardless of that fact that did not want to give me a fill in for her "reasoning" she continued to be extremely rude, bitchy and disrespectful from the minute I walked into the salon. End of the story, there are so many other options for nails in State College so B&B should be the last choice. After this horrible experience I went to Kayla at Nail Square and she did a great job AND WAS ACTUALLY A NICE HUMAN BEING. Go there!!!!! B&B is actually the most ridiculous nail salon in State College.
