Number 1 Nails used to be a great place to go, but my experience today was disappointing. I came in for a gel manicure and was seated right away, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the service felt rushed and inattentive. The technician was distracted by a phone call, and basic nail care like filing and grooming was skipped. When the gel color turned out much more yellow than expected, I asked to have it fixed. Another tech added a quick coat but didn't shape or finish the nails afterward, and I was hurried to pay and leave. I've always liked this salon, but today's visit felt unprofessional and not up to their usual standard. read more

I had my first terrible experience here after a few normal ones and I will not be going back. I took my 4yr old daughter to have her nails painted for the first time for her birthday. She was so excited. I immediately got the sense that they were annoyed to paint a child's nails. I was paying more attention to cleanliness than I usually do (since my baby was with me) and I noticed that they started using tools on my pedicure that were just laying around (not in any solution). She began using some random file on me and then after 5 mins, opened the sanitary pack that you buy with a pedi and used that one instead. The clippers and nail scraper were also just laying in an unsanitized tool kit and used on me. GROSS. When the woman walked over to paint my daughters toes, she was extremely rough pulling on her legs and feet. They shoved the toe separators in between her little toes instead of cotton and slopped on only one coat. I had to ask again for her fingers to be painted. The man walked over eating a peanut with his fingers in his mouth and grabbed my daughter's hand without sanitizing or gloves. He also was stretching her little arms towards him, as her legs were still propped up and stretched and she almost cried but was too shy to say anything. He also slopped on one coat and i had to ask my pedicurist to clean up her cuticles (they were not happy I asked them to fix her nails). I should have left as soon as the woman was rough with my daughters feet. My daughter told me she never wants to go to a nail salon again and I don't blame her. read more

The work they do is good quality at a decent price. The chairs offer back massages. The place is clean but they do have a poodle that is there during work hours. The dog does wander around the business freely but does not bother anyone. The workers are polite and do good work. They have a wide variety of different colors and types of polishes. read more

Tina is a queen and a sweet angel. I have never been disappointed when she has done my nails. Often times I go in with a vague idea of what I want and Leave with my nails looking better than I imagined. She takes my ideas to the next level and I love that she's so open minded to my ideas and capable of designs. I have tried a couple other nail salons since moving a little farther away from Mill Hall but I will never leave her again. My nails always look so fresh and clean after a visit with her. The salon itself is really nice and comfortable, especially after their recent remodel. I definitely would recommend for anyone to go here. read more

Last month, I went in to this salon to have my full-set of long, acrylic nails removed. I had acrylic nails on for a year, and needed them removed due to being in medical school. As soon as you walk in, the salon looks like the employees are living there. It is full of couches, a TV unit with tons of movies, toys everywhere, etc. I did not get the feeling that the salon was clean by any means. It gets worse. (See photos attached of what just one of my nails looks like A MONTH later). The employees began by clipping down my acrylic nails, followed by peeling them off dry by using clippers and artificial nail tips. I was clearly in pain, but the employees continued to rip and peel my nails off without soaking them in acetone first. I quickly began to bleed, as portions of my nails were ripped off down to my nailbed. The pain was so unbearable that I became lightheaded and almost fainted. I kindly paid and left, but I regret not leaving as soon as I walked in. I will never go back here, nor recommend this salon to anyone looking for a pleasant experience. You will not have one here. Save your breath and go across the street to O NAILS & SPA! They are wonderful. read more

I absolutely love this salon! I live near Lewisburg, and I make the trip here. No one does my nails so wonderfully! Also, this is the only salon that I have found in the area that speaks wonderful English. You understand them perfectly and there is no "what?!" They are very up front with their pricing. No surprises when you go to pay. I wanted ombré nails. The lady said the closest they could do is mood gel color! They were so correct. When your hands are warm, it's a medium shade purple. Cold, a dark gray. When it's in the process of switching you can see the ombré effect. The pictures of it changing really does not do it justice. I tried the best I could. Not easy to catch on a photo. I'd also love to add- I went to pay & my card was declined. My bank wasn't allowing me to do any purchase over 20$ due to a glitch. My fill & gel polish cost 30$. They allowed me to leave my die we license so I could go to the ATM to retrieve the rest of the money. I think she saw how massively panicked I was. I was so thankful she allowed me to do this that I gave her a very nice tip. She was so surprised and kept telling me I way over payed her. No way! Most businesses would have made a huge deal about it because they completed service before payment. I payed more that half. I couldn't believe the issue. about two weeks ago my friend and i went to get full sets. we walked in and told them our names and the guy directed us to a empty spot. i sat down and the lady started. about half way through she face timed her mom as she was doing my nails. it became VERY awkward. when she was done painting she directed me to the drying station. when she took them out to do the top coat she clearly saw that one nail had smudged. she just painted over it. i paid $50 with tip and they all fell off. extremely disappointed and upset. read more

I've gone two times to Number 1 Nails. The first time was fine. The second time, the pedicurist was an 18-year old male who was very chatty and personally offensive. I don't think he meant to be per se, but he was argumentative about my lifestyle (single woman living alone), my profession (teacher), the calluses on my feet and how his mother runs and "doesn't have that problem," my vacation, and my choice to have foster children. I've come in this salon a handful of times throughout the years and usually I have always had a great experience. 6 months ago I had the absolute worst experience. I felt humiliated by the young kid doing my mani and pedi. He was so obnoxious and rude to me that I swore I would never return. Then yesterday morning I came in for an emergency gel french mani because they take walkins and no other salons were open at the hour. I ended up having the most lovely experience and the most beautiful manicure from a woman who works there. So it's a hit or miss establishment depending on who is taking care of you. read more

Honestly the pedi wasn't bad for only 20 bucks.. however the lady ripped off my pinky nail!! She was using a buffing pad over my nail & it caught on my nail and ripped off. Of course she said nothing about it as she grabbed some nail glue to glue it back on, seriously? Real professional huh? My daughter and I went last evening and a SPA pedicure was 26 dollars that is fine however we received a 10 minute pedicure from an employee that was also caring for her baby. Our nails look as if the baby painted them, Our pedicure was totally unsatisfactory, we will not return and will not recommend.
