I've been going to B&B for years. Was treated so rudely today. Stopped by on a Tuesday and was asked by a clearly exasperated man if I could come back Monday. I said what time do you open on Friday. He did not like that. Said can someone talk to this lady. B&B has been prioritizing the student clientele over the townies for a while now. I hope that works out over the summer. Also, everyone seems in a perpetual bad mood. If you don't like providing a service don't be in the service industry. Took myself right over to Nail Square where everyone is nice! This place is just not a good place for Nail service, first they talk about you while you are sitting there. Then when you ask for special service they won't help you. This is the worst pedicure I have ever had. I've had a horrible manicure here in the past tried to give it a second chance years later and i am telling you all you should never go here and waste money. First, there is absolutely NO circulation fan or fresh air coming into the store. I asked the technician, who did not speak any english or understand to cut my cuticle and the skin around my nail. It is not always suggested to do but I like the area around my nail bed very trimmed and cleaned. not only did she not cut the cuticle or clean up the dead skin, they did not even push back the cuticle and there was no cuticle oil used. they did a LIGHT SWIG of filing and NEVER asked what shape I wanted. I thought these were all standard for manicure or pedicure? there is no top coat and I ran home and removed the polish. they used no technique and I am livid that they did not use the metal flat tool to push the cuticle or other skin around my nail bed to make it clean or a better surface area. I went without a pedicure for a year so all of this WAS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY and my requests were ignored. It feels very dirty in there and they offer nail polish that looks extremely cheap. also they have a child working there not necessarily doing nails but helping out and it is alarming. there are no uniforms and everyone is in sweats that don't match it is so sloppy and pretty much the worst nail salon i have ever been to with no standards. read more

I had a horrible experience at this salon. I waited over an hour for my manicure. The woman who did my nails cut the extensions almost to my natural nail length. When I questioned the $10 extra charge for extensions the technician who was in the next table argued with me about what I asked for. She was extremely rude and condescending. I politely asked about the price of the extensions considering how short they were. Her tone was rude and uncalled for. Terrible customer service. Poor customer service. You go a nail salon to relax and unfortunately as a first time customer I was deterred enough to not return to this location. I'm a pretty engaging/outgoing individual on top of being flexible, thus i'm quite disappointed. I was willing to wait the long time to get my nails done but not for poor service in the future. The staff is young and may be skilled in nails but lack social skills. If you plan to want long wait times and lack of understanding from employees, then this is your place! Sad as the work done on my nails by the older gentleman wasn't terrible and I would have returned. This was my first time at this location and I received a fill and a nail repair. The next day the nail that was repaired broke while I was removing a book from my bag, very low impact. When I called to schedule a nail repair the young lady on the phone stated she would need to repair my nail at a cost, claiming she could not be at fault for the impact placed on the nail to break it. I've been getting my nails done for over 15 years. I know that at times lack of care or skill from the tech can cause breakage of nails. I was okay with this and was willing to return but hoped as a first time customer they would grant a $5 nail repair free at cost to guarantee I come back next time to get a $45 full set, a $40 profit and long term customer in my opinion. I was trying to establish a long term nail salon being new to the area and unfortunately they have lost my business over $5 of poor service. It's apparent this shop focuses on profit only rather than establishing a long term client which is negative in the long run for their business. so many reasons why one star oh my god. i got a full set here about 2 weeks ago and it cost me $52. not bad at all. i went back today for a fill-in and a nail repair and it cost me $58. when i asked the gentleman doing my nails if that was normal, he gave me the cost breakdown and i said 'okay' and paid him the full amount. i then sat there while my friend finished and when she was done i was told to 'never come back' for asking that question by the young lady doing my friends nails. my friend that was getting her nails done TODAY is in the process of taking them all off because they were done so atrociously by the young girl who spoke to me. they're lifting so horribly and she's embarrassed for anyone to see them. additionally- my friend was charged $60 for a full set (different than my price) and while we were sitting, a girl walked in and asked how much a full set was and was told $84. you're going to get a different price and attitude every time. They did a sloppy and rushed pedicure. The dead skin was still there, the paint was all over my skin, my nails were not cut evenly, and they didn't put the paint close enough to my cuticle. They will look grown out in significantly less time then when I get it done elsewhere. The space was also not clean, and appeared unsanitary and gross. My nails have improved dramatically in health. They always attempt to seat me and get started quickly. I've been going to this nail salon for around two years, it's also very clean especially around the pedicure bowls. I went in with two of my friends after growing my nails out for 2 months, wanting them to be long and healthy before I got them done with gel. I first got my toes done, which the shape was pretty questionable but I didn't say much. Then for my nails, where I asked not to cut them and just shape. She completely filed down my entire nail so the long nails I grew out for so long were smaller than ever. I already have small nail buds which I do not like so for her to make them so short immediately made me upset. She did not clean up my cuticles, I had to ask for her to clean under the nail and she only cleaned ONE of my nails (???), and then proceeded to only do two coats of gel and was about to put the top coat on (which was extremely streaky so I asked for one more coat). The topcoat was all over my nails afterwards and she did not clean them up. I asked another worker to clean it up and she said "its too short, theres nothing we can do" (which was their fault initially). I will not recommend this to anyone and will never return. read more

I've been coming here since September however, my last visit was not a pleasant one. They are never consistent with prices one day it's one price a different day it's another. I got a full set and they charged extra $ for an almond shape. I then took my acrylics off and they charged me $25 even though I only had 4 acrylics they needed to take off since the others were off already. When I asked one of the employees why taking off my acrylics costed me so much money she explained to me that she would've charged me $35. $35 to take off acrylic nails? That's absurd to me. Never again! I wanted to treat my college student daughter to a nice manicure, and not being familiar with any of the nail places in State College. We found B&B. She was very anxious to get a nice gel manicure. The girl spent maybe 15 minutes on her nails - no cuticle work, nothing extra - basically removing her polish and painting her nails. To say we were disappointed is an understatement - $30 for 15 minutes and her nails look horrendous! I had the older gentleman for a fill and he was rough and unpleasant. Every nail salon that I've ever gone to - over 30 years! - has done a hand massage with lotion at the end of the manicure - they don't even do that and I paid more than I do at my regular nail place at home. Save your money and do not give them your business! Honestly, I cannot imagine how they are still in business with all the negative reviews, but they are all spot on! I love this nail salon and all of the women in here are so pleasant to interact with! I do however have a problem with the older gentleman that works here. I've been coming for years and he's done my nails a handful of times and each time I have a negative experience. He is extremely rough, pushing and pulling your hands hard constantly and does not seem to put a lot of care into his work. He speeds through everything and seems like all he cares about is getting as many clients as he can. I wish he would be more gentle and put more care into it. Last time I had him my nails chipped after a week, when normally I can get 4-5 weeks out of a dip manicure from anyone else! I have also seen him go outside for a smoke break and then come right back to work without washing his hands. Still giving 5 stars because I don't think the business should have to pay for that, but every month when I come here I have my fingers crossed he isn't my nail tech. read more

It was clear that the tech who did my basic manicure wanted to get me out of the chair ASAP and didn't really care about the actual process. She blew through the shaping/buffing/cuticle care, leaving my nails ragged and uneven. I brought my own polish that she wasn't able to use, which was fine, but she barely removed the old color before hastily and messily swiping on the new color I picked out. It looks like I let a toddler do my nails for me and I am highly disappointed. They also asked me to pay ahead of time so "my nails wouldnt get messed up." I had the worst manicure here. The overall quality isn't what sucked it was hands down the customer service. I got a full-set. I will be brief: 1. I sat in the waiting area for 5 minutes. I was then told to sit at a specific station where I waited an additional 15 minutes for service. In that time 2 other people came in and were seated & serviced before me. 2. My manicurist was rushing. I'm not a fan of people wielding sharp pointy tools around my cuticles in a disorderly fashion. 3. When she applied the fake nail, she clipped it before even asking if I was okay with the length! Who does that?! I had actually wanted it a few millimeters longer. I was NOT happy about that. 3. I specifically requested a rounded nail with a slightly squared edge. She gave me a square nail with rounded edges. I wasn't satisfied. I asked her to round it out a bit and she literally got huffy about it. She proceeded to round out the edges. When it still wasn't to my liking I asked as sweetly as possible, "It looks great but could you please round it out a bit more?" She just glared at me and said I should have asked for a round nail. I get this same style all the time and I've never had a problem with a manicurist interpreting my request. 4. The price I was charged was not the price listed on their service menu. I'm from LA and this was the most I've ever paid for a manicure. I was only visiting the area so will most likely never be back, I just thought I should warn the fine folks of State College to stay far, far away. read more

Hands down the worst manicure and pedicure I have ever had. Pedicure: after asking the technician to fix my toes, my foot still looked like I stubbed my toes the second that I stood up from the chair. The polish is uneven, smudged, and doesn't cover the entire nail. The "spa" pedicure included a slap of lotion on the leg. My feet were raw from how rough the technician scrubbed my heels. My feet were never soaked and I noticed that some customers received a hot towel on their legs post pedicure. My technician neglected to provide me with this "luxury". Manicure: my gel manicure also does not cover the entirety of each nail. It was starting to peal away immediately upon leaving the salon. My cuticles were barely touched and yet again; a slap of lotion that I had to rub in myself. I also did not get the clear pre-coat that is necessary for a gel manicure to sustain. Careless. Customer Service: the technician was in a rush throughout the entirety of my visit. When asked to fix my toes, he was aggravated and resentfully "fixed it". In the middle of my manicure he stood up and started to give another customer a pedicure. The entire staff was loudly chatting across the salon and no one was focusing on the customers. When using different tools, technicians across the board were careless and not paying attention. There was also no "hello, how are you?" or any semblance of the standard pleasantries that a service oriented industry is expected to possess. Upon completion of my manicure, I asked about the student discount that I was told about over the phone. I was then told that the student discount was not being accepted today. This is a huge lack of consistency and left me questioning the legitimacy of the business. Cleanliness: calling this establishment shoddy would be a compliment. In between pedicures the water station was given a once over with a dirty rag. The tools were rinsed with the same water that was sprayed on my hands and feet, with no emphasis on sterilization or sanitation. The same paper towel was used throughout the entirety of my visit. The pad that I rested my arms on while I got my manicure was greasy and clearly had not been washed in a decent bit of time. This experience was so bad that it borders on comical. The lack of customer service, the inefficiencies, and the lack of both quality and cleanliness are the types of things that you see in bad movies. This place is a dump. They actually do reasonable work, as the pedicures last a long time. The location is convenient for me, so I REALLY WANT to like this place. But last time I was there, their kid was sick and running all over, and I came down with the same cold a few days later. The rug is filthy, the ventilation is terrible, and the TV is always playing CNN or something noisy. The employees often smoke right at the entrance, which is a real turn-off. I've gone 3 or 4 times, but that's it; I'm not going back unless they clean it up. read more
