The entire staff was wonderful, and Kyle in particular was professional, kind, and extremely attentive. He explained every step of the process clearly, helped ease my fears about the quick, noninvasive procedure, and never made me feel rushed. He took the time to answer my questions, demonstrated what to expect, offered me water, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the visit. Since this was my first experience at an eye clinic, I'm especially grateful that Kyle made it such a positive one. He is the reason I would come back with no hesitation. Dr. Jones and Dr. Khine were just as lovely and welcoming. They treated me as though I were a close friend or member of their family and made sure all of my needs were taken care of. They both reviewed the procedure with me beforehand and explained everything they were doing throughout it, which made me feel comfortable and reassured. After receiving a wristband--which was the only part of the process that happened efficiently--we waited approximately 45 minutes for the first test, then another 37 minutes for the next one, followed by additional waiting for more testing and to see the doctor. It appears the office is severely overbooked. We were there for more than three hours for a scheduled appointment. I understand medical appointments can run behind, but this level of waiting and disorganization is unacceptable, especially for elderly patients. Better scheduling, communication, and consideration for patient's time are desperately needed. If you have an appointment here, bring a book, laptop, or something else to keep yourself occupied. There are no movies or shows being provided to help make the extremely long wait more bearable.

Disappointing First Experience With Rosemead Eye Center…read more This was my first time calling Rosemead Eye Center because I was interested in becoming a new patient. I had heard good things about Dr. Lai through online searches, so I was hoping to confirm what insurance they accept and how to use my medical insurance for an eye exam. Unfortunately, the experience fell short right from the start. The person who answered the phone, Sam, was impatient, unfriendly, and noticeably rude when I asked basic questions. Instead of helping guide me through the process, as any medical office should, especially for new patients--she sounded irritated and dismissive. It honestly doesn't matter how good a doctor may be if the first point of contact treats people this way. A front desk representative sets the tone for the entire practice, and this interaction was a complete disservice to Dr. Lai and to potential patients like myself. They made me a new pair of bifocals and when I reported the lower part was wrong I was asked to try wearing them for awhile to see if my eyes adjust to them. Well I got my prescription from my previous optometrist five years ago and brought it along with their new incorrect lower vision glasses back. Their optometrist told Helen my new prescription is exactly the same as the one I had 5 years ago. How incompetent can these "doctors" be. They, as I was told, changed my prescription to what they thought may be best for my eyes. WTF? Is this how things are done now. Make the glasses the way their optometrist thinks it should be and not what my vision actually is? I left these "new" glasses and case and called Millie Kelly at Azul vision. She didn't answer. Her husband had surgery with Dr. Lu and was very satisfied. Coincidentally, both his office and the surgery center are in Arcadia, where I live. I had cataract surgery on my left eye on 2/16 and on my right eye yesterday, using an EDOF multifocal intraocular lens (paid out-of-pocket). Dr. Lu truly lived up to his reputation; he was very professional, explained things meticulously, and patiently answered all my questions. Both surgeries went very smoothly and successfully. Furthermore, Dr. Lu personally calls patients on the same day after each surgery to check on their progress. Although there are follow-up appointments the next day, his dedication and willingness to go the extra mile touched and reassured me. Dr. Lu is truly an outstanding doctor, highly trustworthy and recommended. I also want to especially mention the staff at the Doheny eye center were very friendly, professional, and attentive in answering questions. Amazing service!
