This is mainly for the front desk. They are the worst I ever encountered. Mixed up appointments, stop answering phone 30 mins before closing time. Delay in sending out prescription despite numerous request from pharmacy. I switch doctor because of the terrible front who lacks professionalism. read more

Dr. Phillips is the best. Recently I had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Andrew Phillips and I am thrilled with the result. I no longer wear glasses except for reading and colors are so vibrant. My vision is very clear now. The surgery took place at Specialty Surgical Center where the staff was very organized and helpful. The staff at Dr. Phillips office were also very helpful and kind and made sure I was well prepared for the surgery. I am so glad I had this surgery and I highly recommend Dr Phillips and his staff. Dr. Andrew Phillips is a brilliant and compassionate doctor. My father saw him when he was at USC. Dr. Phillips decided to open his practice, so my father wanted to follow him. Dr. Phillips took excellent care of my father's medical needs and cataract surgery for both eyes. Now, 20+ years later, both my husband and I still see Dr. Phillips for our check ups and whenever we need attention for our eyes. Unfortunately, I needed cataract surgery for both eyes in my mid 50's. I knew right away that I wanted Dr. Phillips to do the procedure. I've always felt comfort, honesty, and professionalism with Dr. Phillips expertise in the field. I had cataract surgery for 1 eye, and it was amazing, I was able to see when I left the surgical center. I couldn't wait to get the second eye done. Within several weeks, I had the second surgery. I can honestly say that my vision was better than excellent, I was able to see things like a speck of dirt on a very high ceiling. Dr. Phillips was so patient in explaining the details from beginning to end. Also, Noel was so helpful with setting up the appointments, taking measurements, going over the procedure, and the aftercare. I just referred my Uncle to Dr. Phillips, and he's a happy patient. Thank you to Dr. Phillips and the entire staff at Phillips Eye Center! read more

I had cataract surgery done by Dr Phillips at Specialty surgical center in Arc. and all went very well. Dr Phillips has a very relaxed demeanor which puts you at ease, also the surgical center personal were very kind and attentive. I had intra-ocular lens implanted in both eyes so I could see far-intermediate and up close without glasses. I could not be happier, lenses worked for me, don't know if same result for everyone! Thank you Dr Phillips. read more

I love this doctor, but the staff leave a little to be desired and, have left me with a feeling of frustration more than once.   On my first visit I received an eyeglass prescription that I never felt was quite right when filled. I just couldn't see as well as I felt I should, as well as I could with my old glasses. Later after seeing another optometrist I found out that the prescription was stronger than I needed. Once the prescription was corrected by the second optometrist, I could actually see better.  More recently, I called for an appointment with my Ophthalmologist because of concerns of a detached retina (having flashes and floaters in my eye). Thinking I'd made an appointment with Dr. Phillips, a girl comes in to the exam room, puts drops in my eyes and said to wait in the reception area for about 20 minutes while the drops worked. She didn't introduce herself, so I'd  just assumed it was one of his medical assistants, as I'd seen prior to seeing him in the past.  After returning to the exam room and about 10 minutes into her running some tests, I'd asked her if I was going to see the doctor too, and she replied" I AM the Doctor."  I replied back "Oh I didn't know he got another Ophthalmologist in here.  I thought I was seeing Dr. Phillips, adding that the girl that scheduled me didn't say anything.  It was then she told me she isn't the ophthalmologist, she's an optometrist but that they do the same examination, adding that the doctor was in surgery today. I replied "Oh I didn't know any of that," again adding the girl that scheduled me didn't mention anything. I guess my point is I would have definitely appreciated it if the person scheduling me (Sherry?) would have let me know that I wasn't seeing Dr. Phillips or another ophthalmologist, and given me the option to see an optometrist instead.  Personally, given my symptoms I really feel like an Ophthalmology specialist appointment was warranted, or at minimum I should have been given a informed choice. read more

I had my cataract surgery done by Dr. Phillips 2 months ago. From my first appointment on the service and care provided by Dr. Phillips and his staff was wonderful. He helped my choose an intra-ocular multifocal lens that is perfect for me. I have 20/20 vision for distance and intermediate sight, plus I can use my phone and the computer without glasses. I use "cheater" glasses when I read the newspaper or a book. I never thought I would have this clear vision after cataract surgery. The colors and clarity of the world have reawakened for me. Do not hesitate to visit Dr. Phillips if you need cataract surgery. And explore the wonder of the multifocal lens. It makes a world of difference. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Phillips for many years and have never had a complaint about him or his staff. He has treated me for diabetic eye disease and the beginning of macular degeneration and has always taken care to explain all of his findings. Seven years ago he performed bilateral cataract surgery on me and I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. The surgical center in Arcadia where I had the procedures done is exceptionally clean and very well run and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. I would definitely recommend Dr. Phillips as a highly skilled ophthalmologist. Phyllis B. age 77 read more

Dr Phillips did my cataract surgery a year and a half ago. He was not in my network, but went to him because his reputation was so good among other general doctors that I asked who they would go to. 110% glad I did. I went with the Pan Optic lens - at an age when there is nothing on your body that improves with time, my eyesight is much better. I no longer use prescription glasses for distance, or reading glasses. I can use regular (non RX) sunglasses. I am super satisfied. read more

Addendum: to the fool who commented on my review. You can give bad reviews regarding the business aspect. I am sure he's a good doctor. I found a well renowned Ophthalmologic Surgeon who's consultations were free. Dr. Alan Berg is the best in his field and has a superb practice. He was gentle, sweet and professional. I got what I wanted from the best. ****** original review, I still stand by it ********** I wanted to talk to Dr. Phillips about getting lazik. They want $375 to just for a consult!!!!!! My 68 year old grandfather was referred by his retired ophthalmologist that stated he would need cataract surgery in both eyes. Upon scheduling his appointment the staff was professional and quick on getting him sooner than August. We were hoping to get him scheduled for surgery after his first or second visit with the Dr, but all it came down to was not wanting to see him for another 1-2 years. Not to mention, he also recommended to see an optometrist at his office. The staff was great, doctor was knowledgeable, ok. but at the end of the day they charged him $89 for simply being a new patient, asking for another $79 to see the doctor for glasses. We continued his care somewhere else where he will proceed with cataract surgery in orange county read more

AVOID THIS DOCTOR'S OFFICE AT ALL COSTS! My mother went to this clinic for cataract surgery and had a very unpleasant experience. The office tries to process as many patients as possible during a day and functions like a fast food drive thru with no care for customer service or the patient experience. During the second appointment we had some questions for the doctor on which lens to use after the cataract removal, and before we met the doctor the nurse (Noelle) was already annoyed that we had made a second appointment and said "do you have your questions written down?" After meeting with the doctor the nurse asked us to sign a surgery risk consent form and choose our lens on the spot. When we said we needed more time to decide she said "you still haven't decided on the lens yet?!" She asked us to first sign the form and initial next to a choice of monofocal and astigmatism correction and finalize the choice later that day. Later that day we returned to the doctors office to finalize our lens choice and get a copy of the consent form. We were refused a copy of the form by the nurse! Even though the form clearly states that the patient has been offered a copy of the form, we were never offered a copy, rather when we asked for one we were refused. We also wanted the consent form to be corrected to reflect our choice of lens which is a monofocal but WITHOUT the astigmatism correction. The nurse refused to make this correction on this important legal document. It took a long back and forth before finally the nurse agreed to correct the statement and make a copy of the form. We left the office and spent a few minutes in the elevator lobby when the nurse rushed out saying thankfully we hadn't left yet and that she needed to "redo" a certain measurement. She didn't explain what she needed to do and we went back into the office for a procedure which hadn't been done before, so it was something she had clearly forgotten to do. This is days before the surgery! A month before the surgery, after we did a pre-op the nurse (Christina) gave us a couple times slots for the surgery and we selected 10:30am, but was told that we would get a call before the surgery date to confirm an exact time. A few days before the surgery we still did not have a confirmed time so we called the office. The nurse (Noelle) said there is no guarantee on the timing, and that no one would have asked for our preference of 10:30am, suggesting that we had completely made up this conversation we had with Christina. A day before the surgery we called the doctor to make him aware of the nurse's neglect for one of the measurements and had a redo a procedure. We wanted to make sure nothing else was missed before doing the surgery. The doctor not only was not concerned about the negligence of his staff that an important measurement was somehow missed, but instead suggested that we just cancel the surgery. We ended up never getting the surgery and had already bought all the medication associated with it and already blocked out time in our schedule for the operation. The doctor very dismissively said we should just cancel. He seems to think there will always be an endless supply of patients for him and gave the impression that losing one is no big deal. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW HORRIBLE OUR EXPERIENCE WAS. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER CHOICE IN THE WORLD FOR AN EYE OPERATION YOU SHOULD GO WITH THAT ONE INSTEAD OF THIS CLINIC. read more

My appointment this morning rated a 10 star review. Sadly, only 5 are allowed. Veronica, Raquel, and Noel are examples of how a great office operates. Good vibes the moment I entered. Then the element of professionalism kicks up considerably. A wonderful physician, Andrew F. Phillips, M.D., entered the exam room. The good doctor worked his magic, gave me results that a layperson could comprehend, and recommended a follow up in 2 years. I went to see Dr Phillips because I developed cataracts. I am overjoyed that Dr Phillips restored my sight. The result was amazing to me. The staff were courteous and professional. Dr Phillips offered the two different types of implants, I chose the one with no glare at night. I knew that I would have to wear reading glasses. The surgery for my eyes was done on my right eye and two weeks later on the left. It is over in minutes, all you see is a light. Painless and no sedation. As a result, I have 20/20 vision. I know that if you have cataracts, this is the doctor to see. I am grateful every day that when I drive I can do it with confidence because this man restored my vision. I recently became Dr. Phillips's patient at the recommendation of my primary doctor. I was pleased with his attentiveness and response to my questions and concern about my vision problem. I, like his forthrightness about my condition. I appreciated his computer visual explanation about my condition and prognosis. His office staff was very friendly and accommodating. When I originally called for an appointment, they didn't have appointments available for almost 2 months. An appointment was made, and they offered to put me on their cancellation list. In less than a week I was notified of an available appointment to see Dr. Phillips the following week. That is excellent customer service! Also, there is an optometrist in his office with an excellent display of more recent styles in frames, that I will be using in the future. I, highly recommend Dr. Phillips. read more

After having to get glasses at the young age of 11 and then moving to wearing contacts in my teens, with needing a stronger prescription every 6 months, my eye sight was becoming quite the inconvenience. In my early 20's I was introduced to Dr. Phillips and he changed my life. I had a consultation with him to discuss having lasik surgery. He was warm, friendly, caring and so easy to work with. I never felt rushed or as if I was asking silly questions. He was very detailed oriented and gave me the time I needed at every appointment. The day of my surgery I was incredibly nervous, but Dr. Phillips and his team were supportive through the whole (quick, efficient, and painless) process. My surgery was at noon and he told me to go home and take a nap afterwards. I did this and when I woke up at dinner time I had 20/10 vision-something I had never had in my life! 9 years later my eyesight is just as strong and I have only Dr. Phillips to thank. I am constantly telling people how lasik, and Dr. Phillips, changed my life and am always referring him to people. He will take care of you from day 1 and it doesn't stop after your procedure. It has been 9 years since my procedure, but he never forgets me when I go in for a check-up and we always have a pleasant visit. Because he had done my mom's lasik procedure before mine he offered my brother and me a discount on our procedures. He's honest and fair in his pricing. My mom, brother, and my father-in-law are all now happy patients of his as well! If you are considering any eye treatments, please don't hesitate-book your appointment now with Dr. Phillips. He is truly the best and you will be in great hands! read more

Great doctor especially with cataracts. Office staff are pleasant and patient.

I am very picky about my healthcare providers and wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Phillips. It's too bad I can only give a 5 star review for this doctor and his staff. He was very thorough and gave an exellent explanation as to why I had cataracts at what I thought was a ridiculously young age. When it came time for the surgery, he was very patient and I had no complications with either eye. The office staff is very kind and extremely efficient.
