Part of lunch special #1
Vicky B.

Came here for lunch with a small group of friends and had a great experience! First off, the complimentary chips and salsa were great! I loved that the chips came out a little warm too. I ordered lunch special #1 which came with a crispy (beef) taco, lettuce, guac, refried beans, and a chili relleno. Everything was delicious, and I'd love to come here again the next time I'm in the area. Our waitress was fantastic too, checking on us frequently and bringing drinks and food out quickly. Highly recommend!

chicken and beef fajitas

Of all the times I've had a meal here. I must say I've never been disappointed. My colleague and I had dinner here this evening and decided to sit at the bar. After starting off with some frozen margaritas, we ordered our dinner. While waiting for dinner, we were served with a bowl of chips and salsa. Chips were fresh and warm, salsa was tangy and good. The bartender suggested the fajitas. I took his advice. I went with the chicken and beef fajitas. With this, you get a combination of chicken and beef on a sizzling platter. On the platter are onions, tomatoes, and green peppers. You also get three soft shell tacos to build your fajita. With the exception of one taco shell being a bit stiff, everything else was delicious. Plenty of food for three fajitas. With the dinner came rice and baked beans. Both of them excellent. The bartender was awesome. He was engaging, friendly, and guided us with meal suggestions

Taco Salad with pulled chicken - OUTSTANDING!!

My first time being in here; I'm in town from New Hampshire!! What a great place for the minute you open the door and greeted by Brayden with a smile. I ordered a Bud Light and was going to do take out, but decided to stay because it was such a nice place. The bar area was so clean and really nice. The taco salad with pulled chicken was outstanding!! I have allergies and Brayden made sure I wouldn't have any issue with what I ordered. I would recommend this place!!

Carne Asada tacos

I am officially in love with this place. They have the best frozen margaritas ever and fantastic bartenders. Who make them I highly recommend the Carne Asada tacos because you get a generous amount of meat as well as rice beans, salsa, and chips. I also come here almost every Thursday because it is their margarita night, where they have a special deal. They also have special deals on all their weeknights. There is a large area for seating at tables and booths as well as a large bar area. I highly recommend coming here!!

Underrated Syracuse Mexican staple. Easily my favorite of all options available. $4.50 House margs on Thursday- how can you go wrong? The staff is extremely friendly (ask for Rachel as your server!) and the food is killer. My girlfriend and I stopped in on Cinco De Mayo at about 4:30 and didn't experience a wait. We ordered margaritas (lime rocks salt for me, mango rocks salt for her) and they were great- also fell on a Thursday so doubly good. We ordered queso fundido (my personal favorite app) and while they did accidentally bring it to the wrong table at first, I can forgive them for how busy it was and how delicious it ended up being. Before our entrees arrived we were treated with shots on the house- sweet. Also, the first bowl of chips and salsa is on the house. We both had frozen margaritas after that and they were both excellent. For our entrees I had the steak and shrimp fajitas and my girlfriend the Pina Fajita (served in a pineapple half). Both came out smoking hot and delicious. We both had enough to bring home afterwards. My only complaint was there was certainly more steak than shrimp in my skillet (about 6 shrimp) which I was totally okay with because it tasted so good. My girlfriend also loved her entree which was recommended to her by a friend who is an employee. Seriously, if you're eating at Margarita's downtown or god forbid Papa Gallo's in Fayetteville- you need to come on down to Camillus and have the best option. Eat at Azteca's, be happy.

TL;DR: Underwhelming. Go if you must, avoid if you can. Beware of hidden fees. ***Ambiance*** I would describe the ambiance as controlled chaotic. They have a dining area of around 20-25 tables with options for a table-for-four and booths. Tables are right next to each other and they are not well-separated. In case the conversation at your table is not going that exciting, you will have multiple options to hear the conversation of nearby tables. ***Staff and server*** The check-in staff was friendly. There were multiple tables available, and we were seated right away. But the service was slow. From sitting down to the first appearance of the menus took 15 minutes. 10 minutes more for the chips and salsa and an additional 10 minutes for the arrival of drinks. The server was polite. I would describe the service as utilitarian. ***Drinks*** We ordered margaritas, and they were sub-par. Frozen sweet puddle with an aftertaste of alcohol. The azterica was saved because of the presence of the inverted coronita (see pic). I was determined not to let a stingy bartender ruin our evening, so I ordered a shot of tequila to compensate for the absence of tequila in the margarita. ***Food*** The food was a mixture of hits and misses. Their latest addition to the menu is taco birria, and it was good. Although, one person at our table found it to be lacking enough meat in it (and I concur). [For an exceptional taco birria, see my review (and pics) on Beer Authority at NYC] Queso fundido was a bait-and-switch. All queso and no meat. Everyone at our table dug and dug and dug that bowl of queso for that elusive chorizo, and none of us found it! ***Hidden Fees**** What made that queso fundido even worse was that it was served without any chips. When we asked for the chips, our server got them for us. However, when the check came, the charge for extra chips ($1.5) was tagged on it (see pic). Apparently, chips are considered *extra* if you order queso fundido. The server never mentioned that requesting either chips or a small cup of sour cream would cost an additional amount. I am ok with paying more for customization. However, the policy of not disclosing it upfront is rather annoying. If you have already ordered a dip, charging extra for chips is beyond appalling. ***Overall*** It was an underwhelming experience. The warmth and delight of Mexican cuisine that they claim to serve are not reflected in the hospitality and service of this place. If I were to choose a single word to describe this place, it would be "functional". Go if you must, but avoid if you can.

Shrimp and chicken fajitas

Was in town visiting, my sister recommended trying this place, so we did. Upon entrance a guy seated us within a couple minutes but he was VERY hyper and kept requesting other waiters and bartenders working around the place "to do" things. I'm assuming he was the manager by the way he was micromanaging the staff. We noticed this throughout our entire time there, which was annoying to say the least because it was a Wednesday evening; not very busy or packed. (Yet he was on 10 flying around the restaurant yelling requests out) as for the drinks and food, all arrived quickly, however this is not authentic Mexican food. The drinks were way too sweet w/cheap liquor, the platters were large and lacking flavor and overall, just wasn't great. Felt more like hefty platter of low quality products. If ever in town there are other places to visit in the city of syracuse, with a much better vibe and better quality of food. Shortly after leaving I was sick the entire rest of the night. I had nothing else to eat or drink and was puking and in the bathroom regretting trying this place. 2 stars only for the servers/bartender whom attempted to do their best job given the micromanagement.

Chimichanga

After making a quick Costco run with friends, we decided to stop by for dinner! Luckily we got in before the crowd got big and were seated right away. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good! I think their salsa had a hint of like which we all appreciated. I went with the chimichanga and rice and it was amazing! I expected a big burrito, but instead got two smaller ones which made it much easier to eat. My dish also came with rice and guacamole and for the price was well worth it. I can't wait to come back for whenever I crave more Mexican food!

The restaurant serves an Americanized Tex-Mex menu of tacos, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas and quesadillas. The restaurant itself maintains some of the interior features of the former Applebee's that it inhabits, as the main dining space surrounds a sunken bar area with a large rectangular bar. My wife, mother-in-law and I recently dined in while running errands in the area. We went in around 1PM on a Saturday and were sat right away. We liked the way it's been remodeled, it's very nice inside. Our server came over pretty much right away, got us our drinks and chips and salsa. Complimentary chips and salsa were both good. One thing we liked about them was that the menu has different offerings - most Mexican restaurants seems to have the exact same menu, but Adelita's had a couple offerings that I hadn't seen at other restaurants. My wife chose the Adelita's platter as her meal, my MIL went with fajitas and I went with the Pastor Burrito - stuffed with slow cooked pork and pineapple. Our food was brought quickly and was mostly okay - one thing I liked is they offer black beans as a bean option, as I'm not a fan of refried, but their rice had absolutely no flavor - just as bland as could be. The biggest issue I had while there was I went to use the bathroom while I was there. After doing my business, I went to flush with my foot - and as the toilet flushed down, water sprayed everywhere out of the pipe that goes up to the handle. I told an employee about it as I came out, who told me they knew about it and kinda just shrugged it off - but no sign or anything was up to warn anyone about the free shower. Overall, between that and the okay food, we just felt there were better options for Mexican available in the area.

They brought us warm chips and salsa and our drinks and came back in a little while to take our orders. The food came out pretty quickly and was nice and hot. Service was very good even as it got busier during lunch. My 1/2 Enchilada Supreme came with one cheese and one chicken enchilada, rice and lettuce, tomato and sour cream. It was a decent size lunch portion. My friend had shrimp and rice and vegetables. She said it was cooked well, tasted great and took some leftovers home. The decor was colorful and fun. Short wait time for to go order, I do like to have the salsa and chips with the margarita but that came with the to go order this trip. I do think the tortillas were a bit stale this order. I ended up using the salsa with the quesadilla. Great quesadilla wish it came with sour cream, I would love to add jalapeños as well next trip. Supreme Enchiladas good as well, I prefer the chicken. Good amount of food for the price. The portion was plenty to share. I need to remember to add the Guac! I think the dinner meals should add the guacamole with order but I'll be sure to order next trip! Bon appetit!
