I'll explain; I wanted a particular pair of earrings for my wife's birthday. They reviewed their inventory and they did not have them at the store. He took my number and said he was going to their manufacture and get me a pair. Well later that night I received a text showing me a picture of the exact earrings I wanted. Mind you that was not a week later fit was the same day. I picked them up in time for my wife's birthday and she loved them. I am truly disheartened by the attitude of this business. For 12 years I promoted this business for various reasons the most important, the owners granddaughter and my son went to the same high school and as a public school teacher in the community, I am a supporter. this and let me state this clearly as I learned today "it's a jewelry store". Well, this photo is the same ring that I wore once after paying for it to be repaired and when I went to the store today, both the father and son took no responsibility and brought to my attention that oh well the ring separated above or below where we repaired it is your fault Are you freaking kidding me. I ended up taking the ring involved in the review I left previously to several other jewelers, a few of whom refused to work on the ring outright as the stones had been glued in place and they were afraid of causing further damage trying to remove them. I did find a jewelry shop with a platinum laser welding machine on site, who ended up doing the work. Their observations included that Azena's had used the wrong solder, that there were voids and air pockets in the solder, that they had no idea why they had chosen to resize the ring where they did, and, of course, that they had glued the stones in place. Ultimately, they advised that the ring should be reshanked for a perfect repair (at a very high cost, as with any platinum work!) In the end, we decided to have them do their best to fill in the voids and damage that Azena's left behind with platinum welding, and to replace two of the stones that Azena's had damaged and glued into place. The cost ended up around $200, and although it's not a perfect repair, the ring is still far better than it was when I was screamed at and yelled out of Azena's. The awful quality of the work at Azena's, and the treatment I was given when I tried to get them to repair the ring that they had butchered is beyond reprehensible. Please, save yourself some grief and don't give these people a single cent. read more

I was a regular customer here, but the problem is that they keep changing their hours and do not answer the phone. They used to be open till 6:30 pm, but many times closed at 6 pm. During the pandemic they closed at 5 pm but did not change their online information. I called 4x this afternoon to confirm their hours - between 3 and 4 pm, and each time got a recording saying that voicemail was not set up. There's not reason why a business should not answer the phone during normal business hours, or to have an outgoing message giving more information. While they have given me very good service, it takes a huge amount of effort to reach them. So for today, I'm going somewhere else to have a battery replaced in my watch. read more

Caveat: The gentleman in the photo on this web page is NOT the person with whom I had my unpleasant experience. The man I dealt with is an obnoxious, nasty liar. I called the store during the early afternoon on February 17th to ask about a particular part for a watch. I was assured that the part was available. I confirmed with the man I spoke with that the shop was open until 6:30pm today. Arriving at the store at 6pm, I rang the buzzer and waited a few moments, but no one answered. But a customer was at the counter, so I thought for sure the store was open. It was only when I rang the buzzer again that I saw the "We're Closed" sign. At that point, a man in his late 20s-early 30s stood up from behind the counter and gestured to indicate that the store was closed. I called him and politely explained that I was told the store would be open until 6:30pm, and, in fact, the web page on which his business is listed says he's open until 7pm. To my surprise, he said, in a truly nasty tone, "I don't care what the web or my listing says. I close when I feel like it." He told me not to come back (to be fair, I had just said "Screw you, buddy" in response to his obnoxious behavior), but I can't imagine why he would think, for even one moment, that I would ever put a penny in his pocket. read more

I have had two positive experiences here so far. The first time I went in to get two broken necklaces and a watch clasp repaired. The gentleman I spoke with was very honest about the kinds of repairs that would be most practical and cost effective. He fixed the watch clasp for free and completed the other repairs within a few days. The second time I went in to get a battery replacement for my watch. I spoke with the same gentleman and he replaced the battery on the spot within a few seconds. It only cost five bucks. I appreciate the way this store has earned my trust. After having crappy luck the last time I had the battery changed on a newer watch, I was reluctant to pick any ole shop. After seeing the amazing review on Yelp for Azena's, I decided to give them a shot- and wow, what an excellent decision! Azena's is family owned and the adult son who was working in the shop that day was incredibly friendly and courteous. Not only did he change the batteries and check out the mechanisms in the 5 watches I brought WHILE I WAITED, but he also made me feel like he actually WANTED my business. I know it sounds silly, but after feeling more like an inconvenience rather than a customer most times I shop lately, it was a welcome change. Oh, and the one watch that had an internal mechanism broken- he insisted I look into a warranty with the maker before having him do it... and then didn't charge me for looking at it! I needed a link taken out of a watch that I had bought elsewhere and not only did he take the link out while I was waiting (instead of keeping the watch for a couple hours like most places wanted to do), he also just said "have a nice day" and handed me the watch back when he was done - no charge! I bumped one of my watches while moving and it stopped working. I put off taking it in anywhere for about 2 months especially since I feared the worst. I yelped a place around and found this as the closest. I got quite lucky. I took in two watches. It turned out the first only needed a new battery. I needed the second one resized. I had taken it in somewhere else and had a few links removed but it was still a bit large. The guys here replaced the battery while I waited. They also also took out a link, but it was still too large, so they took out another, but it was too small, and then they played with the adjustments on the clasp and got the size right. The store is clean and the guys working here are friendly and professional. The best part is they only charged $8 for both things! read more

I must say I'm kind of annoyed. I came here because of all of the amazing reviews for the shop. I needed my newly-received vintage engagement ring and wedding band sized down just slightly. I came in last Saturday to get it taken care of, and the man at the counter was awesome, super nice & I left feeling like my rings were in good hands. He told me that he would call me when they were ready, maybe Monday and at the latest Tuesday. Here it is, 5:00p Tuesday. Still no call. I call him, he says "yeah it's ready, I have it at the shop, you can pick it up tomorrow." I say, "Tomorrow? I can't come get it tonight?" He says "No, I'm not at the shop, and it's at the shop" Me: (slightly confused, I thought I called the shop?)... Well, I'm traveling for work tomorrow. The earliest now I can possibly go get it is Thurs. Super sad. I was really excited to wear my engagement ring, considering I just got it late last week. I guess the moral to the story here is that you may not be able to trust them to follow up, you have to do it. read more

Ok so I'd give it 5 stars for the one guy that I've dealt with, and negative 5 stars for the other guy. I've been here many times, mostly just for watch battery replacement and once to get a ring resized. Good prices; fast, good work. My only complaint before today was that they don't stick to their posted hours so it's sort of a gamble if they'll be open. Due to COVID, they have a one-customer-inside-at-a-time policy in place. Okay, I'm glad they're being safe. Today, the only employee was the "other guy" (the owner?) who I've never had to deal with before. There was a customer inside browsing and trying stuff on, so I figured it might be a while. I waited about 20 minutes and nothing. The guy didn't even acknowledge me. Another person who was in line behind me tried to peek through the door to see what was going on in there, and the guy waved him away! Who does that? At least stick your head out the door and say like "Sorry, it might be a few minutes; you should come back later" Or just see what the customer wants. I didn't even need to enter the store; I could have handed him my watches and he could have replaced the batteries while the customer inside was trying stuff on. Anyway, I went and ran a few errands and came back maybe 20 minutes later. Customer is now inside, maskless, and just kind of hanging out. I made the mistake of looking directly at them and, you guessed it-- I was waved away. The only acceptable explanation I can think of is that the store was actually being robbed and the man was saving my life. In which case -- thank you, good sir! So, long story short -- I need to find a new place to get jewelry repaired in Park Slope. Any recommendations? read more
