A great place for ice skating. I highly recommend bringing your own ice skates. Theirs are terrible. Our feet are so soar after skating. If you don't want to invest in skates as you are like us, and do not go often enough, buy some inserts for comfort and support on the bottom. I had a fun time!.. But when ordering my cheese fries, they looked different than the last time i ordered... I also saw them put the nacho cheese in a ZIPLOCK BAG and then warm it up and put it on my fries.. Safe to say i lost my appetite... Skating was fun though!.. except for the teenagers who were doing the worm in the circle in the middle.. I was worried for my children. Very impressive though! Bravo! I don't mean to KAREN but there were lots of LOUD and AGGRESSIVE teenagers this saturday. They kept cheering for reasons unknown.. Perhaps cult behavior? I'm not too sure.. The one with the green hair i was highly suspicious of... kept shouting "Shein" ???? i'm not sure what that means, and the rest of the group shouted along with her, but shouting "Fein" instead of "Shein". Andrea I think her name is the manager was very accommodating for our grpup although we did not utilize the party room the tables out in lobby were great! Ice skating year round. In summer, what a fun way to beat the Arizona heat! Rink was busy, yet still okay for young ones to be learning to skate. Check their website or call ahead for open skate times. The rink offers lessons and has competitive teams. Those groups have specific ice times reserved. Facility itself could use a bit of TLC in areas. If considering visiting with a group, call ahead and ask about group rates. We went as part of a Scouting outing. Our group rate included skate rental. Stake trainers (those things that look like walkers,) were an additional $5 per person. Coin operated lockers are available. Concessions are available. They did not seem to be enforcing the no outside food policy while we were visiting. I noticed lots of people with food from outside sources. Visitors may bring their own water. read more

We have now been to AZ ice 4 times. The first 2 were for free stake with friends. The 3rd was for a party. this last time was for my son to take a free 30min lesson to see if he wants to learn how to skate. So totally look on the site when free skate is so you don't waste time coming when they have hockey practice or a game. Also there are skating lessons and practice going on as well. They have yummy food at the snack bar as well and it's so cheap for good food. And yummy hot coco. I have to agree with the other reviews about the skates they are al beat up and have sharp things poking ur feet. It usually takes my son 4 different skates to find the one pair that doesn't hurt. But We love coming here and we ended up signing our son up for skate classes. It's a great place to go on the weekend. read more

I never knew a venue like this existed in Phx until a family birthday party. What a great location and idea. I grew up back east and ice skating rinks were the norm. I believe you can bring in your own food for the party ie pizza but there is also a snack bar which is reasonably priced w attentive servers. Beer is also available dad. I haven't been on the ice in decades so I abstained, maybe return when not so many people to fall on. The red training to skate devices I have never seen. Great idea. Nice venue, lots of parking, restaurants and hotels nearby. Friendly staff. read more

Went here with my family to skate after years of not skating and we had a great experience. The staff was nice and helpful and the facilities were clean. The kids loved using the walkers for skating assistance and it was great. The free skate prices are very good as well as rentals. They have plenty of vending machines and a food shack. read more

Stick and pucks is expensive and the rink allows coaches to utilize public sessions for private training purposes- meaning only half of the ice (if you're lucky) will be available to you to skate. My husband and son paid $80 between 2 skate sessions to skate in a corner and not break a sweat. We did call the rink (no answer) and emailed the owner several days ago (never got a response) in attempt to address this with the rink directly. We will not be back. read more

I went outside to do something different than video games, finally I went and skated it was absolutely fun.... it took a little while to get used to it however after I started skating it became easier And easier. The staff is extremely friendly even the gentleman that handed me over the skates gave me a few tips before going back at it. I went and loved it. If I could do it all over again I would do it over and over and over again it was fun. The price is decent and right it included the skates. I reccomend engine to try and skate again. I went by myself, a lost hobby that I go again back into it and is great. I felt alive once more. What do I reccomend, once you get to the ice skating ring start with weight as if you were pressing the carpet. Little by little you will eventually get used to it and will easily adapt also ask tips to the people at the front of it is your very first time ice skating. Do not wear headphones for your first time because at times people skate very closely to you to passby and you need to pay attention hear them skate otherwise small falls might happen as I noticed some people happened. Other than that is fun try it I definitely reccomend anyone that is not afraid of the ice to try it. read more

The ice rink looks great but if you are renting skates, they are in such poor deteriorating condition, I would not recommend. I used to compete and skate for years so I am familiar with the ice. I sold my old boots years ago snd knew rentals wouldn't be ideal but I was shock shock shocked at the deterioration in their rental skates. There is no ankle support and the blades are so un-sharpened there's no edge. I think they also may have shaved off the front portion of the toe pick. I felt unsafe and didn't skate. I would recommend for the arena but not for the skates. read more

Took our kids ice skating for the first time ever here while some family were in town. Place doesn't seem to busy looking at parking lot, lots of tables when you first walk in and their was a friendly girl to rent skates from for free skating. It's $9.50 to skate, $3.50 to rent skates, out of the 6 skates only 1 side of one seemed really poorly kept. It had different laces than one size and twice as long, pretty awkward looking but it worked. They don't allow the walker thing for anyone unless 5 year old or smaller size.... roller rinks and other skate rinks do? We didn't really get directions on anything??? No rules, no safety, no directions, just pointed to skate over there. When we got on ice I thought it was really unsafe. I've been in skating before and usually there are rules, move in one direction, beginners on wall or in coned off area, if you fall move to side or watch for ice safety guard to help? You've got figure skaters practicing everywhere, hockey players EVERYWHERE and almost crashing into you or spraying ice on you doing stops or even like jerk ass hockey kids coming up behind you full blast almost taking you and your 5 year old our because though you're pretty much touching the wall to stay out of the way- they don't care about safety and neither does the ice safety monitors? I asked some figure skaters what happens if someone falls and can't get up... like me? They kinda tried to find some people to point out that "help" and supervise but even they seemed unsure on who was really doing the job? One of kids in our group straight out collapsed and laid completely on ice for a while after trying to get up a few time's before a fellow beginner skater tried to help her to the wall. Place seems super cool with possibility to be a fun place to go regularly but you don't really feel welcome, kinda felt like we were imposing on ice and hockey skaters annoyed they have to share the ice??? Seems like a safety issue for sure We didn't go in bathrooms or order food because we only could stay for 1 hour so I don't know conditions or have any review on that. read more

One of the best rinks in the area and the workers are very nice. It is busy during the summer but you should check this place out sometime!

It was fun don't get me wrong but someone there got hurt. He had cut his leg and it's very sad he is going to have a scar now. It was so crowded I couldn't even skate without people being in the way then when they had started to leave more I could but kept falling on my butt. I had used the trainer but out really didn't help I was still struggling and fell again which made me cut my leg I have many bruises now too. This place is ok I just don't recommend skating. read more

This place was great to go especially as a first time skater. It was not very busy only about 12 people so it gave me lots of room to try out new things. Plus the price is very good! Only cost me 20$ for my boyfriend and I. The only down side is none of the vending machines would take my card or cash so definitely bring a water bottle. Although the employees were nice enough to bring out a pitcher of water for me along with cups so even if you forget it shouldn't be a problem! read more

Your AZ Ice Peoria made our twin girls Birthday pretty lame. I wanted to invite 3 children to accompany our daughters for their birthday to AZ ICE. They love to ice skate. I asked if it was ok if I opened up 3 gifts in the lobby and had 3 cupcakes for the kids. They said NO. That I had to book a birthday package. I asked if I could book a birthday package for 5 children and they said NO! It would have to be way in advance. I said I'm really not allowed to eat a cupcake in the lobby? It's not a huge party. Literally just a couple kids. NO! They said I may eat it in the parking lot. So now, today... I'm planning on taking my kids skating and eating a cupcake on the tailgate of a truck. Just FYI your rules seem very strict. Their B day is going to be lame. I'm just trying to be a good parent over here and I'm sad I have to be embarrassed with a few parents eating cupcakes in the parking lot. read more

This is a good place to take the kids ice skating. It gets packed so you all types of levels of people skating around. We had our daughter bday there and the manager Riley made sure we got taken care of because it was a big ordeal trying to get something booked so that is the only reason for the 4 stars is that she stepped up and took care of business. The thing they need to do is work out a better pick up and drop off system for the skates, and also get rid of the bench tables by the window there should be chairs that are stationary. Overall its a nice place to go ice skating just needs to be managed and organized. read more

Took three kids there during public skate. They have never ice skated before. Susana was on the ice as an attendant of sorts, she was amazingly helpful with the kids, made them feel comfortable. They also kept an eye out for people going to fast and making it hard for beginners. Would definitely recommend for learners. read more

Great place to take the family to go ice skating or to watch some hockey. They also offer Learn To Skate and Learn To Play. If you want to watch hockey they have youth programs, a travel team, high school games, and a men's beer league. They used to have GCU play out of the rink but they moved to AZ Ice Arcadia. Inside is a cafe where you can buy food and drinks including alcoholic beverages and also a Pro shop called "Behind The Mask". read more

This is our second time ever ice-skating but I found it over priced! It was fun but if you charge so much for time in the ice and share rentals I expect a decent pair of skates! I've seen better at Goodwill... For public sharing it'd be cool if you had some music playing and maybe monitor the kids hauling ass and kicking up ice at the noobs hugging the wall! Went there today with my son, my neighbor, and his two small children. After skating around the rink and catching the tip of my skates 20 times if finally fell hard taking one of the small children down with me. The reason I caught my skates 1 million times was because the ice was basically nonexistent and there were literally puddles of water, it was so bad that there was no ice on parts of the rink. Tons of others were falling and having the same issue. I notified the safety skater and the rental desk. They safety skater said "it's July" and the rental desk said "we're aware". Well I don't care if it's July, if you are "aware" that your facility is dangerous and you are unable to run it properly then close it down!!! fortunately I am just swollen and bruised but someone is going to incur a serious injury and the facility could care less. We weren't even offered our money back or a voucher for a future day. Will not be going back! read more

Not the best place ever. My kids really enjoyed open skating. There's a few middle aged kids that are regular that take over the ice like they in the place. This also explained why the staff is disengaged and doesn't have customer service training. They are kids too. I'd rather spend my money ey elsewhere Wich exactly what I'd did since there ATM wasn't working and no one provides cash back. There's no help and mo direction no one asks if you've been there before or know how anything works they just charge you and leave it up to you to ask the questions when your lost. I'd recommend bowling or movies over this as they also have posted everywhere that everything you do is at your own risk but never share any sort of safetey concerns for people. I attended my granddaughter's fifth birthday party at AZ Ice Peoria today. While I wasn't impressed with the quality of products this rink uses for birthday parties, the staff more than made up for it. My daughter tried to book Elsa and Anna, but even ice princesses take vacation and she was only able to book Anna. I expected the girls to be a little disappointed; Elsa is all of the girls' favorite Disney Princess. However, the Anna that graced this party won them over 100%. At first, Anna sat by the birthday girl (BG) and attended the party like everyone else. Then, when the BG was opening her gifts, Anna convincingly oo'd and ah'd at every t-shirt, sock, and doll the BG received, while quietly helping gather discarded wrapping paper to keep the table clear for the next gift. Anna then took the girls to the side of the room and led a sing along to all of their favorite Frozen songs. The girls were absolutely rapt. After that she posed for photos and I figured that would be where they said their goodbyes. I was wrong. When it was time to skate, Anna helped the BG get her skates on and patiently explained to the parents the fit they were looking for to ensure a safe and comfortable skate. Then Anna strapped on her own skates and hit the ice with the party attendees. She was warm and kind, patient and knowledgeable as she helped six elementary school kids stay upright on the ice, even helping out a couple of the adults when it was obvious they needed it. She stayed through most of the free skate. When the BG was finished skating and the party was winding down, Anna took her leave. She hugged all of the girls and, ever in character, mentioned Olaf and other personalities from the franchise as she said her goodbyes. At the end, the BG squeezed her tight and Anna squeezed back wholeheartedly. Not once, but twice. The look on my granddaughter's face was priceless. The young lady that played Anna did it so well and with such warmth, I'm convinced the girls really thought she was a princess. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but I hope she reads this and knows that for six little kids, she created magic today. read more

3 visit. Skates were pretty terrible. Lines were extremely long. Ice was super crowded. Several kids that came over after their hockey game and ruined the day for everyone. They were playing hockey with their gloves across the entire rink. Running into everyone and throwing the glove in front of other skaters. They need adults watching the ice and monitoring the skaters. That said my daughter had a great time and I'm sure will ask to come back. read more

As others have said, the hockey department is very poorly run. Impossible to get anyone to return a call. Once I was finally able to get on a beginner team, it quickly turned into a "we need to win, at all costs and we weren't performing." This is a beginner league and most of us were happy if we were still functional at the end of a game. A win was a bonus, but we were just there for fun. Our goalie worked for the league and started stacking the team with C and B players so that he could prove himself to the other teams. He would then yell and cuss at us in the locker room afterwards because we "sucked and shouldn't be playing" He even threatened to quit the team because of our lack of ability (I wish he had) and said he was just helping us out and he could do better without us. Eventually all of the teams were stacked and as a result it made playing not fun at all. Overall very aggressive playing by higher level players that should not have been in the league. As a result, I was checked from behind trying to get the puck from the corner and ended up rolling my ankle and breaking it. No one from the league followed up with me to see how I was doing. I've played in other leagues where I've had bumps and bruises and the league would check-in. Absolutely nothing from AZ Ice Peoria. I ended up filing a claim with USA hockey for the supplemental insurance coverage and it was impossible for anyone at the league to respond. I had to get the USA hockey division manager to get someone to reply to the claim which only consisted of some paperwork. In addition, the ice surface was horrible. Full of ruts, and the sand underneath was coming through the paint and ice. The face-off dots were completely gone and most of the lines were worn away. It was common for wet spots to still be on the ice through the 2nd period. As a result of all of this, anyone who has asked me about the beginner leagues at Peoria, I've told them to just avoid them at all cost and make the trek to Arcadia instead. It's a shame because the other players on my team were at about the same level and a great bunch of guys and gals. I enjoyed playing and they were all very supportive of each other. read more

Nice place to skate Having grown up in the northeast portion of the country skating in the desert can be an interesting concept. I wanted to take my nephew and get some ice skating in while on vacation and that's when I found AZ Ice Peoria. AZ Ice has two rinks. The south rink is olympic sized, and the north rink is just slightly smaller. AZ Ice is a great place to have a tournament or be a spectator. There is viewing in bleacher style seating and the facility is comfortable and clean throughout. However, the ice at times isn't in the best condition. A couple of times around the rink and you soon find out what ice to stay away from. The location was easy to find, slightly difficult to get into the first time. AZ Ice may not be Rockefeller Center however, it does the job for us Phoenicians. read more

You should never write a review in anger. Luckily I'm only mildly irritated. I've been coming here to watch my husband play hockey for the past 4 years and I've never had any problems with this place till tonight. Before the game, I got up to go to the bathroom and to save my seat I left my jacket, my bag of almonds, and my water bottle. Who's gonna take them, right? I'm gone less than five minutes and come back out to find all my stuff gone. WTH? I asked a member of the staff what happened to the items on the table. He didn't know. I described them. He doesn't remember any food or water but he says he put a jacket in Lost And Found. (Sigh) I keep telling myself I should be glad he put it in lost and found so I was able to get it back, but I'm still having a hard time understanding why someone would take (or even touch) my stuff. We've been taking our 3 year old here for ice skating lessons and the kiddo loves it. At first I was apprehensive - I mean really, she just learned to walk 2 years ago! - but she really enjoys it and I give the instructors all the credit. I think they do a great job at getting her comfortable on the ice without being pushy. The students' ages vary but bc the skill level is the same for each group it works out. I was worried that being with older kids my daughter would get trampled on or something. Haha. We signed her up for the next level and can't wait what skills she's moving on to. There's also a food area but I've never had anything to eat there. The bathrooms could use a little updating but it's usable. Oh yeah and summertime in 60 degree temperature-you can't beat it! read more

Upon returning to Arizona, this is going to be the first place I stop by! I had several problems in the past, but they were all promptly taken care of by staff. Let's start with the ice: This place has two rinks, both of them huge, well maintained, and tons of fun to practice and skate on. There's the "North Pole" which is where freestyle and hockey games are held, then there's the "South Pole," where public skate and lessons are held. This ice is unbeatable - minimal bumps and cracks. This is a very nice ice facility! I've been to ice rinks in So Cal as my little bro plays club hockey and none compare to AZ Ice. The grounds are spacious and aren't freezing cold. The entrance area and sides of the rinks are wide allowing for adequate viewing of games while at the same time allowing for people to pass. Parking is ample as is the food situation with Humble Pie just across the lot. read more

Fund place to take your kids. Not too pricey but I do have issue with only having children running the facilities. The ice guard was on the phone not watching people, the front desk was little kids and there was no regulation of direction, when older kids would skate at exces speeds etc. I would be back but would be worried someone might be hurt. read more

All rental skates in terrible condition!!! Not enough skate mates available so my son had a terrible experience and now fears ice skating.... All this and strictly No refunds policy makes it a never again place to go. Management/ownership has never followed up on our complaint. The worst customer experience. Thievery!
