So there we were, headed to Castles N' Coasters a wholesome amusement park in the desert... a place…read morefor families, laughter, and apparently, poor decision-making. Now my buddy this man reaches into his pocket and pulls out what I can only describe as a historical artifact. I'm talking a doobie so big it looked like Bob Marley himself rolled it during a greatest hits tour. I said, "Absolutely not. I am a grown man. I got responsibilities. I got a mortgage. I got snacks at home I haven't even finished yet." That didn't matter. Next thing I know, windows are up, car turns into a Dutch oven of bad decisions, and now I'm just along for the ride literally and spiritually. Somewhere between "this is a bad idea" and "why is everything funny," I lost control of the evening. We pull into the park around that magical time you know, that in-between hour... not quite day, not quite night... like God dimmed the lights and said, "Alright boys, let's see what happens." The whole place is glowing neon lights, arcade buzz, roller coasters rattling in the distance. Felt like walking into a carnival dream... or maybe a fever dream. Jury's still out. Now here's the thing about this place it's been around since the late '70s, sitting right there in Phoenix like a desert time capsule of fun. You got four roller coasters, including the Desert Storm, which sounds fun until you're on it reconsidering every life choice that led you there. Then there's the Patriot wooden, loud, and about as gentle as a bar fight. And somehow... SOMEHOW... we thought tequila beforehand was a good idea. So now we're buzzed, slightly baked against our will, and wandering this park like three philosophers who lost their notes. We're laughing at everything. Nothing's funny but everything's hilarious. A trash can? Comedy gold. A churro? Best thing I've ever eaten in my life. A child running past me? I'm emotionally invested in his journey. But I'll give credit where it's due the park itself? Clean. Staff's friendly. Nobody's judging three grown men giggling like idiots. It's got that old-school charm too arcades, mini golf, rides, the whole deal. You can bring a family here... or whatever version of a situation we were. Now the rides... oh, the rides. Let me tell you something nothing will make you rediscover fear like being slightly out of your mind on a roller coaster you thought you could handle. I got scared... not once... not twice... but a few times. The kind of scared where you start making promises to God you don't intend to keep. "I'll be a better man if I survive this drop..." Didn't mean a word of it. By the end of the night, we had the munchies, the laughs, and just enough dignity left to get back to the car without needing a group meeting. For a couple hours, though? We were kids again. No responsibilities. No stress. Just lights, noise, and pure, ridiculous fun. So yeah Castles N' Coasters might be a family amusement park... but under the right or completely wrong circumstances, it turns into one hell of a story. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just... maybe crack a window on the way there.

Also, the Simpsons machine doesn't let you play Lisa. it picks Bart if you select Lisa's button. Another machine is Zoltar downstairs. He only talks, but does not spit out a souvenir ticket. That one actually did eat my dollar. I guess it made up for it because a couple people abandoned their games downstairs in the middle, so the bf and I played for "free". It was on someone else's dime, but I guess that counts, too. We got nachos and drinks from the snack bar. Service was quick. As with any family fun event center, food was a bit overpriced. The female bathroom was nasty. I don't know how often they clean them, but there was paper all over the stall floor. The faucets had a lot of buildup on them. Both the male and female restrooms smelled funky. I didn't play at the putt putt section, but one day I'll be back to do that. Overall, a good arcade/food experience. I'd recommend this place to people. I cannot comment on any of the rides/attractions besides the arcade.

Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park is not a "quick stop" zoo -- it's a full-on adventure…read moreday. First of all, this place is massive. You need time, comfy shoes, and realistic expectations because there is SO much ground to cover. Zoo, aquarium, safari park -- it really does feel like three attractions in one. The aquarium section honestly surprised me. That massive prehistoric-looking fish (looked straight out of a dinosaur era) was unreal. Between the giant tanks and the variety of species, it didn't feel like a small add-on -- it felt like a legit aquarium experience inside the zoo. The animal variety is wild. We saw everything from vibrant macaws perched up high greeting guests, to monkeys lounging in the sun, to antelope practically close enough to admire their horns in detail. The white tiger was stunning, and the big cats pacing in their enclosures definitely command your attention. You're not just looking at one or two showcase animals -- there's a LOT here. It's not super polished or ultra-modern like some major metro zoos, but that's kind of the vibe. It feels expansive, a little rugged, very Arizona. More spread out, less theme-park aesthetic. A couple things to note: it can get warm and it's a lot of walking. Food options are typical park-style fare -- nothing I'd go out of my way for. Pricing can add up with admission and extras, so plan accordingly. Overall, a solid four stars. If you're looking for a full day with serious animal variety -- from aquarium tanks to safari species to big cats -- this place delivers. Just come prepared to explore.

I purchased the annual membership and it costs more than the family plan at the Phoenix Zoo. As a stay at home mom, I was looking for things to entertain my daughter during the week. Most of the restaurants and exhibits were closed the days I came by. I purchased a membership so of course I want to come on a day other than Saturday to avoid the huge crowds, but I felt like I couldn't use my membership to its full advantage because it was practically deserted during the week staff/amenity wise. Could only buy a drink/food at one of the food courts at the front of the zoo which was frustrating considering how huge this place is and when it's hot, the rides were closed most of the time (plus they cost extra, even for members), and the giraffe feedings weren't ever available either. I tried multiple days during the week as well and had the same experience. I'm not sure if the little snack shacks & places are open on Saturdays or if they are closed permanently, but there were a ton of unused/unopened spaces that look like they'd be cool... if they were operable. $261.59 felt like a lot to just walk around in dirt to look at animals in an outdated space. Plus only I could take my daughter alone or else we would need to spend an additional $262 for my husband to have a membership. If you have kids 3+, it would be an additional $133 per child! Greeeeeedy if you ask me considering the Phoenix zoo prices. We didn't renew and will make the drive to the Phoenix zoo. The gas money will be worth the much lower membership price over there.

This is a tricky review to say fully yes or fully no to for recommending to others. I'll elaborate…read more We went to Slick City with our three kids (17, 16, and 12) as part of our GetOut pass 2025. We had the 60 minute play pass. The concept is basically waterless water slides and indoors. Like any action park, you are required to sign waivers before purchasing your ticket and Slick City requires you to buy their grippy socks; you are not allowed to wear grippy socks from anywhere else. Ok, fine, annoying but it's part of the experience. The pricing was in line with other action parks for their 60, 90, and 120 play passes. You get a colored wristband based on the time slot you bought and they call it over the loud speaker when your time is done. There are plenty of slides and varying degrees of thrill, speed, and height; same as a water park. The slides are objectively cool. Where these slides differ is that you are required to go head first on your stomach down every single slide on a mat. Now, for some, this is no big deal. We saw plenty of people not even give it a second thought. On the contrary, we saw a lot of people (mainly smaller kids) climb to the top, lay down, and panic. Were there attendants at the top to ensure people went the right way down? No. Were there attendants to make sure everyone got down okay, weren't injured? Also no. That was concerning for me because we saw some kids get hurt from the way they were either riding, landing, or getting crashed into or dog piled on. Normally at action parks, there are attendants everywhere to keep it safe, but there were none in sight on any slide. There was an attendant at the swing and handlebars, but that was only to be able to pull the swing back from over the pit. We saw lots of skinned of knees and elbows, a busted chin or a nosebleed, and what appeared to someone with a chipped tooth after they didn't raise their head up enough and went face first into the bottom of the slide. We saw a kid get absolutely pancaked on one of the launch slides when someone didn't wait for the last person to go and came down, flew right on top of him. It might just be part of the fun but it felt a little unnerving compared to what we're used to places like this. I am not a helicopter mom by any means either and think sometimes it's overkill with the safety officers, but it felt like there should've been a least a few around the actual slides. Our kids made it out unscathed, so it was all five stars for them this time around. Sweaty, but not injured in anyway. There is also a little gated in play area for little kids, and you can pay for just that area if they meet the age requirements. Any spectator has to be issued a special spectator wristband also. There is a little food court and lots of seating and a party rental space for large groups or events. The bathrooms are centralized but needed definitely attention. There was water and toilet paper all over the floor each time I went in. The soap dispenser was also wonky; if you didn't push the right pressure point, it all came out the top of the dispenser and went all over the place.

They have a nice place to grab some food, Starbucks, or even an adult beverage. The entire thing is situated within a complex that houses shops, a dinosaur exhibit, a UFO encounter, a center area called the boardwalk with a carousel and soon a Ferris wheel. I really loved the projected scenes on the walls at the entryway. I also think it's really cute that they take your picture when you get to aquarium. We did not purchase our photo although it was very nice one. It was just a little too pricey, $30 for one photo if I am not mistaken. I personally love to go to the aquarium to see their variety of jellyfish and stingrays, and I am always especially happy when they have puffer fish. I was in luck. Not only did they have a wonderful, huge amazing display of jellyfish, but they also had the cutest display of puffer fish. I was finally able to show my daughter what they look like up close. That was pretty special to me. And even better, as I took a picture of these puffer fish on my phone, they noticed my sparkly keychain. When they saw that, they were drawn to it. They came right up to the glass. My daughter was in awe. The aquarium has this amazing rotating display. At first, I didn't know what to think about it. I didn't quite understand what it was. So of course, naturally, my family and I had to check it out. You are seated in a small auditorium. Their seats are more than comfortable, and the auditorium is very well air-conditioned. It takes you through a series of different huge displays. One of them features some of the most beautiful stingrays I've ever seen. Another features sea lions. And of course, a few feature the different fish and sharks. I have never in my life experienced a presentation like that. It was amazing. If we had had more time, I probably would've wanted to watch the presentation a second time. My kiddo isn't so young and teeny tiny anymore, but there are lots of little kids play areas at the aquarium. There is what I called the water table. There is running water that flows through there and the kids are able to use flat panels of plastic to redirect the water through this kind of maze if you will. That's a big favor. Be sure you have paper towels on hand for when your kiddo is done here. They will most likely be wet up to their elbows. It's a cute and fun way to make friends too. They are different opportunities for visitors to get more up close and impersonal with a variety of animals that they have here at the aquarium. We did not participate. One day, hopefully we can. There was so much to see. Everyone at the aquarium was so friendly. There are some Touch pools and opportunities for kids to pet different sea plants and small animals. That is always fun. One thing I had never seen before was a Starbucks inside of a aquarium. This is not just any Starbucks my friends. This particular Starbucks understands that parents need a break too. I'm not talking strictly about coffee. The Starbucks inside of this aquarium offers a small variety of adult drinks. Yes, you heard me correctly. They offered beer. I believe they also offer a few seltzers. Anyway, I thought that was pretty cool. My family and I didn't have an opportunity to actually enjoy anything from Starbucks, but we did take notice of their offerings. If you will be in the area for a couple of days, this is easily one of the better things to be able to take advantage of. If you purchased your aquarium tickets along with tickets to other attractions at the Arizona Boardwalk at the same time, you can create a ticket bundle. In doing so, you will receive a discount on your tickets. I can't quite remember what the percentage off amount was. However, we did purchase tickets to the aquarium as well as to the Museum of illusions. I think that might've given us 20 or 30% off of the combined ticket price. Definitely check it out online. It was a good deal. Parking here is free. They have lots completely around the entire boardwalk area. I really enjoy the boardwalk space. There is a large courtyard in the middle. It is great and perfect space for kids to come and enjoy lunch outside, especially for small schools that come to visit for a field trip. It really is just a beautiful spot. The aquarium and our experience at the boardwalk area was phenomenal. You must take a moment to check out the bathroom. Initially, I thought the whole little thing about the bathroom being cool was some sort of a joke or just something funny to post. But no, it really is pretty awesome. People often flock to the bathroom just to check that out. It can make for kind of a tight situation when the bathroom area is being crowded because people want to see the sharks. But, it was the one time that I could say that there were sharks in my bathroom. LOL Our visit here worked out perfectly. We came here right after breakfast and by the time that we left, it was definitely time for a little bit of a late lunch. There is definitely more than enough for everyone here.

I hadn't been to this specific location before, but I've gone to the Garden Grove one many times. One thing I noticed right away was that this one felt a bit smaller--just a couple fewer slides and a little less space overall--but it didn't take away from the experience. We arrived around 10:45am, and my teacher grabbed our wristbands in about five minutes, which was awesome, especially since it seemed kind of busy. By 11, we had our stuff set down and headed into the indoor water park. The first thing I did was the white group raft slide (fits about 2-5 people), and it was such a fun way to kick off the day. Of course, I had to try the red group raft next too. After that, my friends and I spent a couple hours going between the wave pool and the lazy river, which never got old. By 1pm, we were ready for lunch. I brought my own food, but I couldn't resist getting dessert after--a double scoop of ice cream from the creamery (cookie dough and mint chip). It was honestly amazing and easily one of the best resort ice creams I've had. After lunch, we went back to the slides and lazy river again. Luckily, my mom had signed the permission slip for me to stay an extra six hours--best decision ever. Around 3:30pm, I started exploring more on my own and tried the solo slides. Just like the group ones, there were red and white versions, but flipped in terms of intensity. The white one was definitely more fun, and I loved the small drop right before the end. My absolute favorite, though, was the red group slide. It starts like a normal twisty slide, then slows down before dropping you a few feet and swinging you side to side--it had all of us laughing nonstop, especially when my friend accidentally bounced up in the air. Around 6:15pm, we grabbed dinner. I got two slices of pepperoni pizza, a Pepsi, and a cookie. The pizza was actually better than I expected, and the cookie--an Otis Spunkmeyer--was so good. Definitely something I'd get again. After eating, I relaxed in the hot tub around 6:45pm. It wasn't too hot, which I actually liked because super hot water can make me dizzy. We left at 7:30pm, and honestly, I was surprised how fast the day flew by. I thought I might get bored after a few hours, but I stayed entertained the entire time. I can definitely see myself coming back here with my family soon. Great Wolf Lodge is AWESOME!

Pros: you don't technically have to leave the premises, which is honestly a huge win with kids you can use Hilton Honors points to book the stay, which is a nice perk (although you don't earn points on the stay itself) they offer water diapers for the little ones, which makes things easier it's very clearly geared toward families and younger kids there are non water-based activities like story time, yoga, art, dance parties, and character appearances, and the app makes it easy to see the daily schedule the water park itself is clean and well staffed with lifeguards, which gave me some peace of mind check-in activities and the overall "camp" vibe are really exciting for kids right from the start make sure to grab the wolf ears at check-in, and ask about the photo op since the email about it may not actually come through Cons: food is not very healthy and also pretty overpriced for what it is kids get overstimulated quickly between the noise, crowds, and constant activity the water park doesn't open until 10 am and closes at 8 pm, which feels like a missed opportunity. earlier hours would make a big difference long lines for things like slides, food, and check-in during peak times rooms are very dark and they do not provide a night light the bunk beds look cute but the mattresses are thin and uncomfortable pillows were lumpy and not great for sleeping they really nickel and dime you for everything. ropes course, bowling, arcade, MagiQuest, etc all cost extra and it adds up fast the passes are basically necessary if your kids want to do multiple activities. we did the pup pass which included a build a bear (very basic, no clothing) and a few arcade games there are people on site trying to sell Hilton Grand Vacations packages, which felt intrusive and honestly a bit annoying during a family trip Bottom line: My daughter was so happy and still talks about her memories from this trip, which ultimately made it worth it. That said, it's not the most relaxing or cost-effective experience for parents. If I were to go again, I would bring my own food or do delivery, bring my own pillows, and skip the bunk beds even though they're cute. I'd also plan ahead for activities and probably just commit to a pass upfront to avoid the constant add-ons. It's one of those places that's magical for kids, but you definitely pay for that magic in more ways than one.
