Many many moons ago we used to meet friends here and let the little ones play. They have a water slide, a sloped entry to the pool for little ones, a popular seating area kods like to run circles in to get the water spinning, a lap and open swim area with a deep end, plus diving boards. There is a convenient snack area. They offer swim lessons and swim teams for older kids. There are many awesome experiences we had here with movie nights, holiday parties and watching fireworks. You can even have a birthday party here. They just custome painted the front of the building. It was so much fun to watch them paint it while visiting the park. There is plenty of free parking. We came to the aquatic center for a private party tonight and it was great. You can rent the entire place out which is a plus. There is a huge slide which the kids love, a walk in area for the toddlers, and a diving pool that reaches 13ft. The location is big so doesn't feel too crowded. There are lockers to hold your items as well as a snack bar with tables if you get hungry. The pool is clean and there are quite a few lifeguards which is great for safety. My kids didn't want to leave. read more

This is not a place to swim lanes. The times "open for public" for example in summer from 6 to 7 or something are just unacceptable. You arrive there and there is no lane open because the swimming team has occupied all the lanes. Those kids will splash water all over you. When I passed this over to management they told me that there will be one designated lane for public swimming. This again is not really a good and fair solution. I have paid paid $100 for half a year family pass and was not even able to swim in peace. That was not a good experience. Not coming again. read more

Surprise Aquatic Center had only one lane open for lap swimmers. On a weekend, it was super crowded. The life guards are nice, but they had their work cut out for them with as many people at the pool. All the chairs were taken, so you might want to bring your own lawn chair. There sun-bathers who crowded the lawn so there was not grass to walk on to protect your bare feet. Bring slippers or sandals when you are walking around. read more

I was here last week volunteering for the Special Olympics. It's not your average community pool. The Aquatic Center is huge, clean, and beautiful. They have a nice kids swimming area, lap lanes, diving boards, and few tube water slides. They have plenty of parking spaces. It is located nearby the Surprise Library. If it wasn't so far away, I would come back for a swim. read more

We just had a birthday party here last weekend and was not impressed at all. First I walked into the office , workers in the employee office saw me and never acknowledged me. After 4 minutes I made noise to make attention that I was there and waiting to be helped. Once that happened I talked to the girl for 1 minute told her we had a party and asked if we can get in the room all the workers were rude and didn't acknowledge anyone at that point . Then someone came and got all nasty huffing and puffing and turned the ac off in the room on us and walked right back out mad at whoever . They never came and said a word to us was treated like crap. We got our stuff and left before our time was up since the party was cut short do to someone throwing up in the pool. We won't return for a party. Go elsewhere read more

Being that Surprise is a pretty new and up and coming community, this modest little Aquatic Center is new, clean and perfect for the community it serves. It has a little bit of everything for everyone of every age. Water slides, fountains and wading area, a real (small) whirlpool, a large lap pool, and two spring boards and deep pool for diving. After swimming in my in-laws pool every day for 5 days, coming here was a nice change of pace for the whole family. Never mind every day was either 105 - 116 degrees and our private swimming pool temperature never went below 92 degrees so. This aquatic parks water was just perfect and COOLING. I'd definitely come back here if I'm crazy enough to visit AZ in the middle of July again. Pros: -Clean, affordable, something for everyone -The little whirl pool that whips kids around in a circle. Good fun albeit crowded -Can bring outside food (although sign says you can't). Just be discreet and put it in a bag, but some folks walked in with coolers??? -the shallow baby/toddler area -big lap pool to just mellow out when the kiddie area gets too crowded -shady bleacher area -lots of parking (no shade tho) -snack bar Cons: -Can get crowded / lack of shady areas so grab what you can! -That covered waterslide is SUPER whippy! I suggest you lay all the way down to avoid banging your head on the last turn before you hit water. read more

I've been going to Aquatic since last summer. It's a fun and relaxing place. I take my kids there almost everyday. It's affordable and everything you need is there. There's a small store to buy hot dogs, drinks, candies and ice creams. They have couple shaded area. It would be nice if they have a lot more shade than what they have now. If you bring your little ones there, be sure to keep an eye on them because there are older kids there whose parents should be supervising them up close. Some of the kids think it's a place to get rowdy and wrestle in the middle of the park. Other than that, it's a nice and relaxing place to bring your family to. read more

I came here for a birthday party my daughter was invited to. The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because of the service. It's nice to have an inexpensive place like this in surprise to take your kids to when it is hot. I am not a fan of the water slide system. I heard a lot of complaints from the kids about how the enclosed slide hurts them at the bottom and sometimes they hit their heads. I also think they should have some type of slide for the younger kids or the kids that aren't tall enough to ride either slide. My almost three year old was upset she couldn't go down the slow one anymore because she wasn't tall enough. I didn't appreciate the female lifeguard coming up the stairs and whispering into the male lifeguards ear telling him to measure my child. Next time address me the parent and be nice about it I would have gladly listened. Also, I thought it was rude that at the end of my daughters friends party a female lifeguard came in with her reflective sunglasses on and said "Who is ever paying can you come up and pay because we close at 5." Take off your sunglasses! Show some respect for your elders or just respect period. I have nothing against younger teenagers/adults being lifeguards and working there. I do have a problem with the lack of respect they showed. read more

Great spot to take the kiddos. Very inexpensive and fun times. The 7 year old goes from the slides to the diving board and back.....and the tiny human is content with walking around and getting splashed by the water buckets... the only thing you cant avoid is that its well, HOT!! sun block and sandals are a must.....but overall, cant go wrong checking it out. read more

My toddler and i just completed the Mommy and Me Toddler B class and boy did we have fun! The teacher was very professional and fun and very welcoming to the kids. The pool and the surrounding area were super clean. I wish there was more shade and I wish that it wasn't quite so expensive for non-residents but the classes were worth it. The Mommy and Me classes were meant to introduce children 18 mo-3 years old to the water, learn basic paddling, kicking, how to pull themselves out of the pool, how to float on their backs, etc. There was supposed to be 1 day where we talked about CPR but the teacher just gave us a handout and told us about compressions. There was no actual instruction or demonstration about basic CPR and I think that would have been important to receive. For me, that keeps this at 4 stars versus 5 because it was an advertised portion of the class that I felt wasn't fulfilled. I do recommend these classes and the pool really is beautiful. With a great wading area, slides, diving boards, and lots of opportunity for instruction, teams, and socialization for kids there is something for every age group. I did provide this feedback to the aquatic center and the rec department so hopefully they will make adjustments from there. read more

This is a newer pool...but the water is not clean enough for me in recent years. Litchfield Park, which has an older pool, does a much better job of maintaining the water. Surprise does have a lot of nice amenities for the kids, e.g., a water slide. But kids are kids, and they do pee in the pool. Lots of people means debris from skin. Chemistry adjustments and water filtering helps with all this stuff. Sadly, in the height of summer, the Surprise pool water is a bit hazy and a faint ammonia smell wafts off the water surface (that's caused by chlorine interacting with human waste products). I may give them a chance again this summer season. In a prior season, I paid for a season pass and only used it three times as I was so disgusted with the water. To be fair, many years ago, this pool was maintained well, and I had no issues with the water. read more

Surprise has a great aquatic center with a lot of options for the kids. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great.

This is definitely one of the best swim places out there! It's clean, spacious, and best of all, cheap! There's diving boards, a mini whirlpool, a deep and shallow pool area, and 2 waterslides. There are a lot of life guards out, so it feels nice and safe for the whole family. When I went there was an emergency, where a little boy drowned and was taken away in an ambulance. The life guards were so fast in calling for help, getting him out of the water, and getting everyone else out of the water. They periodically walked around checking if everyone was okay and wetting the ground we were standing on. I highly recommend this place to everyone! read more
