Oil on the driveway. Ugh…read more Called some friends to get a recommendation for a local shop. One said that Scott from Sunland was the guy. We had the car towed over (2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid), and they diagnosed the problem and repaired the issue quickly and at a fair price. Unfortunately, the tech made a small mistake and once we got the car home, there was more oil on the driveway and a check engine light. Ugh, again. So we called back to Scott to see what he wanted us to do. We understand that sometimes mistakes are made and issues arise. How a business owner handles those issues are the difference between good businesses and great ones. This is a great one. Scott was MUCH more upset than we were! He got us back in same day and fixed the issue at no charge! (We should have paid for a necessary part, but he would not charge us.) With everything so expensive these days, and everyone trying to stretch a buck, it's hard to know if you're leaving your car with someone who cares about it as much as you do. Scott does. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough!

Front guys didn't listen to what I easily described and told mechanics something different. I couldn't have been more clear on my description of what I was hearing. Charged me $320 for it, then when I took it back in because they, of course, didn't get my issue fixed, they ignored me again. Mechanic that jumped in so I could point out what I'm hearing, said they were telling him something different. They then tried charging me an extra $410, to which they did end up refunding because the second round didn't work either. After they finally got a diagnosis, it was going to cost me $1,600. Seems like they intentionally ignored me to keep taking my $$, otherwise, why not tell the mechanic what it was I very clearly described?

brought my car in because it was shaking after I hit something, and I specifically mentioned I was…read moreconcerned the rear axle needed attention. I was later told the car had been checked, test driven, and was good to go, and that no issue with the axle was found. The only service performed was an alignment. The very next day, the same problem returned, the car was still shaking and pulling heavily to the right. That was extremely frustrating, especially after being assured everything had been thoroughly inspected. What concerns me most is that I took the car to another mechanic down the road, and he was able to visibly identify the problem right away. That left me feeling like my concerns were not taken seriously, or that the inspection I was told was performed may not have been done thoroughly. I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially for a local business in my own neighborhood. I make a point to support independent shops over big corporations whenever I can, which is why this was especially disappointing. I'm sure many customers have had positive experiences here, and I'm not questioning everyone's integrity. But based on my experience, I felt let down and didn't feel I received honest or competent service. Because of that, I won't be returning.

I know they're only going to recommend services that are actually needed and perform them for a fair price. It was a huge relief when they honored the warranty (11 months after the original service) for a complete A/C system replacement on my wife's car. There was no hassle or argument from them or even an attempt to accuse her of being negligent. They looked at the problem and then fixed it with no additional money out of our pocket. On one occasion the horn on the car went haywire and was randomly honking at other cars. (Just like in the Brian Reagan routine. Very embarrassing.) After checking it out, Hefner's removed the penny that our toddler had forced into the steering wheel, thereby fixing the problem. And they didn't even charge us a shop fee or anything. They take care of their customers.

I booked this mobile mechanic through Yelp for a diagnostic after already having my Jeep scanned at…read moreAutoZone and receiving error codes (injector, spark plugs, and gaskets). I explained this upfront and still chose to proceed with a diagnostic to confirm the issue. I was quoted a flat $65 diagnostic fee by the owner with no mention of pricing ranges or tiers. I agreed and scheduled the service. The technician arrived about 30 minutes later than scheduled, which I was informed of ahead of time. During a brief text exchange with the owner, I expressed concern due to a prior negative experience with another company. The response I received made the interaction feel slightly tense, including being told I could "find someone else" if needed. When the technician arrived, I explained the issues and the codes I already had. During the inspection, the technician began deeper inspection work on the vehicle. I was not clearly informed beforehand that more extensive disassembly or work beyond a basic diagnostic could result in additional charges. Afterward, I was told the diagnostic would actually be $200 due to the depth of the inspection, despite originally being quoted $65. After discussing this, I was ultimately charged $75. I expressed concern that the pricing change was not communicated upfront. The owner later acknowledged that he should have communicated a pricing range and that this was a mistake on his part. I requested a copy of the diagnostic findings I was being charged for. The response indicated there was no formal report, but pictures and a summary were provided. Communication afterward included frustration from the business regarding the reduced payment, despite the pricing change being due to lack of prior disclosure. While I do believe the technician performed the inspection thoroughly and provided useful findings, the core issue was the lack of clear communication around pricing structure, scope of work, and potential cost changes before work beyond a basic diagnostic began. I would recommend future customers get very clear written confirmation of what is included in the diagnostic fee, whether deeper inspection can change pricing, and what documentation will be provided before service begins.
