They alerted me to things I should do very soon, ie. an oil change and tire nail fix. Luckily I knew about those things and already had an appointment at a tire store the next day, but it's nice to know they do a general quick inspection to make sure things are good. When I got back for the pickup the mechanic was test driving the vehicle, also a sign of a good mechanic shop. The bill was exactly what I was quoted and I was happy with the price. I feel like it was a good value for getting done what I could not do myself. I think some of us, like myself, have a mechanic friend, but I chose to go here because I wanted it done right and I trust they do it right. The car i took in for service was a family van and we need it to work right and to be reliable. I don't know if everyone feels like I do that these days you always have to fight to get things done right or be prepared for something wrong or to cost extra or whatever but this was simple. I had what should have been a straightforward repair after a deer hit my front fender. Based on a…read morerecommendation, I brought my truck to Gene's. The job involved replacing the fender, side mirror, and polishing the driver's side window. I was initially told it would take about a week. After 7-8 days, I called and was told it would be another day, which was fine. I picked up the truck after getting the call that it was ready, but I was in a rush and it was parked in the shade, so I didn't catch everything right away. Almost immediately after leaving, I noticed the window hadn't been polished as discussed, and the replacement side mirror was loose and bounced while driving--unlike the original OEM mirror. The next day, more issues became obvious. The headlight didn't fit properly against the new fender (there was a large gap), and the "Tacoma" badge was missing. I contacted them, and to their credit, they agreed to fix the issues. However, that meant another appointment, several more days without my truck, and another rental. When I got it back again, it looked better--but this is work that should have been done correctly the first time. Afterward, I noticed the paint blending was poorly done and doesn't match well at all in sunlight. At that point, I chose not to go back again, but it pisses me off every time I see it. To top it off, when I later replaced my headlights, I discovered a mounting screw was never reinstalled on the driver's side. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience with multiple oversights, extra time and inconvenience, and workmanship that didn't meet expectations. I can't recommend this shop. Really bummed, as this place has good reviews. I must have gotten a beginner working on my truck :( Just a shoddy job.
